No, but first person testimony doesn't count now? Right.

Memory is fallible. But there is one other issue, why didn't the state also bring in the customer service rep who spoke with Chase the day before, on the 8th?

OK. He risks being seen in the Trooper at Metro, drives the Trooper to the border and arrives at 10:30? Then he, catches a cab? Gets home. That could be true. It's a nice theory. Where is the proof that this occurred?

The Trooper was "first spotted" around 5:30 pm, according to the Sentinel Security Guard's Testimony. The "mall" closed at 10 PM. They normally called for towing once the mall closed.

I do have a question for the group: is anyone here actually familiar with the Quickbooks program? Have you ever used it? I g
I am not sure why you say that. The call to QB was made from Chase's cell phone. So that is pretty damning evidence.

And some of those checks were written out to be made payable to Chase and put in his personal bank account, then cashed out.

Again, pretty damning evidence. I don't think the defense is going to be able to convince the jury that Joey gave his sketchy employee permission to go into Joeys bank account and write himself checks.

Those were backdated to the 4th. WHY would CM do that if he had 'permission'?

It's only damning if Joey didn't know about it or approve. If Joey was fine with this. If he asked Chase to take this on, then there is no fraud at all.

I have no idea and don't know that to be true?

Yes but Chase pings near Corona at 1:30; is writing checks by 2, and on the phone with Qbooks until around 5.

Then you have missed some of the testimony. You can access it on Law & Crime Youtube.

True. What does that prove other than that he made that call?

It proves that Chase was attempting to delete the QB history. And why would he do that?

I don't believe that joey asked him to do that. Chase failed in his attempt because her didn't have all the necessary info to do so. If Joey had asked him to do it, he would have given him that info.

And it makes no sense that Joey would ask CM to do that anyway. Joey would have done it himself or have Summer do it. Why give an employee all the secret passcodes to your banking info?

OTHER than CM forging his signature, days after he went "missing."

I can answer that, but it's complex and involves the way in which Quickbooks works. I've used the progam, there are alternative explanations possible.

Really? Believe what you want brother. His signature was KNOWN and compared to those AFTER he was missing, FACT!

We have seen the cheques, but other than that, we don't have any testimony yet about when those were done (other than the one on Joey's computer on the 4th, which isn't the one's we saw written to MSM), where they were done from, if the signature's were actually compared by an expert or not, etc. That testimony hasn't come yet.

Maybe. But we don't know that this happened.

Do you know anyone with a gambling problem? If you knew that person went into his boss's home, got into his computer business account and wrote himself some checks, and signed them himself, and then put them in his own account, and then later visited 2 casinos and took out cash from his ATM----would you assume that gambler was going to actually gamble?
Occams' Raser.

I have used the program too. And there is no way I would have given a sketchy employee, with a gambling problem, access to my QB account.

Again, 250 Billion industry. Most people who gamble don't kill anyone. Ever. The gambling in and of itself means nothing. And where is the proof Chase had a gambling debt?

I could've sworn, I heard her testify that she arrived at work around 8 and he was usually already there. But then, the sound quality on that site (and even Youtube) is so poor, I can hardly hear it. From what I recall, she seemed confused and couldn't remember a whole lot.

She did say that, but I think that was an in general comment, on a working day, she would get there at 8am and he was there already. I don't think it was specific to the 8th though. The conclusion has been... that it would have had to have been at 8am to make the timeline work for him to be back to Corona and his phone ping at 1:30pm.

You wouldn't. But Joey may have.

I don't recall her saying she got to work at 8 either. But I could have missed that. She did seem certain she saw Chase on that Monday and that it was mid-morning. And she had good reasons for remembering.

No idea about that, sorry.
Must have been another local then. I do recall the comment and it was a local.

  • #998
The Forensic Anthropologist testified that she HAD recovered NUMEROUS bodies from exits in Victorville, if that is what we are referring to?
yes LOL

Are we talking about bodies being found off several exits in Victorville? If so, the FA said she was familiar with the area AND had recovered numerous bodies in Victorville? Otherwise, I'm stumped?

There is no recording of that call. And Ryan wasn't asked about that call until 4 years later. But even if Chase did say he was Joseph, there could be innocent reasons for that.

I'm open to all possibilities in this case. LOL

No record of which call? the calls the day before? There was record of it, but not that Baker could see for whatever reason. The defense even named the rep and asked a question if he knew why the State wasn't calling him instead. Which of course got objected/sustained LOL
