Ok... so let's say that Merritt puts on gloves, how is there no DNA on the door from Merritt? If his DNA got on the gloves from handling them before he gets in?

They will weigh all of the evidence together in total, and will come up with what they believe is the logical conclusion about his DNA being found based on it and all of the other evidence presented to them.

Chase is NOT a major contributor to that DNA. Not any of it. Joey is the only major contributor we've been told about.

Sounds like he was sure at the time he made that statement that he hadn't left his DNA behind on the driver's side.

He's not the first one who thought this, and then found out later, they weren't as careful as they had thought.

If Chase didn't think he left DNA on the steering wheel-assuming he is guilty-then no reason to lie about anything. Especially no reason to lie about being a passenger.

DNA degrades over time, especially if exposed to the sun, add to that, how many times were the same things touched the 6 weeks after he said he was in the Trooper?

If the DNA got there either by transfer or directly from Chase on or after the 4th, it had only been there for days by the time it swabbed.

It's also possible CM's statement about being in the Trooper is 100% false, based on WHERE the DNA has been actually found, trace or not.

I don't think anyone wiped down anything... my only reason for that is that there is DNA found, some is inconclusive. Some is a mix of JM/SM/unknowns.

Can't wipe away one DNA profile and leave the others ;-)

That doesn't matter. Chase is not on trial for being a passenger in the Trooper, he is on trial for murder. And the state contends that part of the evidence that Chase is the killer is that he drove the Trooper to the border. And the proof that he drove the Trooper to the border is that minor and trace amounts of his DNA are found on the driver's side of the vehicle.

If the state can't prove Chase drove that Trooper, they have no case.

I'll clear it for you: CM's DNA was NOWHERE to be found on the passenger side of the Trooper. 0 Goose egg etc. The DNA expert TESTED the front passenger area: door/handle/window switch with 0 results.
