That has not been proven. Do a little research on touch and transfer DNA.

This witness does briefly talk about that...

He basically says how the DNA gets there depends on a lot of factors. Finding DNA just tells us that it's there, it doesn't tell us how it got there. He actually uses the example "if I shake your hand, and then touch this counter, your DNA will be on the counter now".

I bet the defense was happy to hear that example LOL

His DNA just magically appeared? Really?

Handling the gloves PRIOR to placing them onto your hands works for me.
....and rubbing your nose with said gloved hand........scratching your ear.........

They swabbed the drivers interior door handle, power window, and door lock controls.
JM major - assumed
SM trace - assumed
another trace low level contributor, no conclusionary statement. << couldn't even conclude if it was male or female.

He only looks for allele's that don't belong to the McStay's because he is assuming they are there, it was their truck.

The passenger interior door handle, power window and door lock controls were swabbed.

Mixture of 3 individuals. No conclusions.

See photo... the top one is from the drivers side but it cuts off.
So say he's wearing gloves and only one of the gloves has his dna on it, say he sneezed on his right hand. He uses his left hand to open the door and close the door. He uses both hands on the steering wheel and his right hand on the gear stick /air con.

No. His DNA didn't magically appear, but DNA can be left on an object by someone other than the person whose DNA profile appears.

Do you know about transfer DNA? Look that up.

After listening to the Pros DNA "expert" today, if they can't place CM in the home during the murders, which INV Fisher (SBSO) stated in a press conference, the State can NOT just theorize CM was in the home then.

The State MUST have/show conclusive evidence supporting INV Fisher's claim, otherwise CM's reasonable doubt just skyrocketed today, IMO.

That doesn't mean that another "expert" is yet to testify about the results found in the home either.

I agree Edmo. It's troubling. I recall after CM was arrested, and reading that they went to the home, they sure made it sound like they did a bunch of testing and it sounded like they had some evidence. I do not think this is the case. Part of the reason why I am having a hard time believing things that were released in the media, and even the preliminary hearing.

IF it was on one spot, maybe.

The cheque evidence puts him in the house Edmo. He raised a cheque next day with the same memo line, without communicating with Joey between times.

If you don't know what transfer DNA is, there's really not a whole lot more I can discuss with you on this.

Right, but if that is believable for him to be driving the vehicle, is it not also believable that if the defense uses what they said in their OS's, that they shook hands (Joey's right hand), Joey gets in the truck (using his left hand to open the door), grabs the steering wheel with his right hand, and then puts the vehicle into gear again with his right hand... THIS would leave transfer DNA.

I mean, this criminalist just said the same thing in testimony... so either he is making it up too... or it's a believable theory. JMO

Maybe I am mis-remembering DNA vs evidence INV Fisher spoke about finding in the home? He did mention they believed the murders occurred in the home, that I do remember.

Was it the same amount as well?

WHY would CM fondle those items then?

I shouldn't really comment on this next before I watch today's testimony, but...I don't understand by Jones wouldn't have compared the profiles he had from the Trooper to Joey and Summer. He had their DNA, or at least he had the DNA of relatives by which he identified Joey and Summer.

Why assume?

  • #975
I don't think anyone wiped down anything... my only reason for that is that there is DNA found, some is inconclusive. Some is a mix of JM/SM/unknowns.

Can't wipe away one DNA profile and leave the others ;-)

If the vehicle had been wiped down, the case would have gone from "missing" to "foul play" almost immediately. The killer wanted to control the narrative.

You are a lot of fun to talk to, but I can tell you don't know about transfer DNA, and without that knowledge this discussion really isn't possible.

Then YOU explain how CM's DNA WAS found on those items?
