Trace or NOT, HIS DNA IS found on those items.

Right, but he also said that he can't say the mode of how it got there ;-) We WILL hear more about this later, and probably with this witness... probably tomorrow because they are going blah blah blah.

The defense said in their OS that they think it got there by transfer DNA. I want to hear more :)

From wearing gloves as well.

Only if skin cells slough onto the glove first.

And it can get onto an object by way of a transfer.

You have to weigh where the DNA was actually found, Major-Minor-Trace vs CM's statement, IMO.

Handling the gloves PRIOR to placing them onto your hands works for me.

Right, but that still doesn't prove how the DNA got there. What I imagine this will come down to is war of the experts. And the jury will decide what they think is most likely.

Here's another thought along this line. If Chase lied about being a passenger in the Trooper, how would this have helped him?

If Chase wanted to explain his DNA on the steering wheel, wouldn't a lie about having driven the Trooper be more effective?

Who would there be to contradict him?

Sounds like he was sure at the time he made that statement that he hadn't left his DNA behind on the driver's side.

He's not the first one who thought this, and then found out later, they weren't as careful as they had thought.

Then why didn't his DNA show up on the passenger side/door etc?

I *believe* the Defense is trying for "unknown" persons DNA being found in the graves. However, so far, the Pros expert testified NOTHING of any DNA has been found in the graves, so far.

That's most likely because investigators didn't find DNA in the graves, the defense's experts did.

Well he couldn't answer "why yes. I was in the Trooper on the day I murdered the family". He needs a reason to explain his DNA possibly being found in the Trooper. And for me, it is too big of leap to think CM would be thinking his DNA could be found on steering wheel vs his DNA being in found in a random location.

The way this cross is going I think McGee is succeeding in increasing the jury's trust in this guy's opinion and results. He isn't discrediting him he's almost consulting him.

Because he was a passenger in the trooper weeks before. If his DNA in the rest of the vehicle got there by way of Joey, that would have been more recent.

He could have said he drove the Trooper when he and Joey went paintballing, why not?

Because he was a passenger in the Trooper.

You can't have it both ways. Either his DNA was left on the door/passenger side, or it wasn't. They tested those items .

They will weigh all of the evidence together in total, and will come up with what they believe is the logical conclusion about his DNA being found based on it and all of the other evidence presented to them.

Yes, so when they put on their expert, and if the State wants to call him back, they already have him on the record.
