CA - Kobe Bryant, 41, daughter GiGi, 13, & 7 others die in helicopter crash, Calabasas, 26 Jan 2020

Ive learned so much more about him after his death. Obviously there is a lot being reported on his deceased daughter Gigi. I haven’t though come across much info on his eldest daughter, in general. Volleyball is referenced in regards to being her favored sport. Does anyone know more about her, school, etc? I’m just hoping that she will be a good support to her Mom and 2 sisters as they each grieve together.

Hopefully she won't get overwhelmed with responsibility...they are all in such a vulnerable position, it could get too much for her. Hope everyone involved will get some good counseling.

ABC suspends correspondent over major mistake in Kobe Bryant crash report

https://pagesix.com/2020/01/29/kobe...over-major-mistake-in-reporting-deadly-crash/

ABC News has suspended Matt Gutman, the chief national correspondent for the network, after he erroneously reported that all of Kobe Bryant’s children were involved in the fatal crash that took his life and that of his 13-year-old daughter Gianna.

Before Gianna’s death was confirmed, Gutman said during a live report that Bryant’s other daughters — Natalia, 17; Bianka, 3 and Capri, 7 months — were on the helicopter as well. He later corrected the error and apologized, writing on Twitter, “Today I inaccurately reported it was believed that four of Kobe Bryant’s children were on board that flight. That is incorrect. I apologize to Kobe’s family, friends and our viewers.”

This close up will show there was no chance of survival. The passenger area was literally disintegrated. The impact into the mountainside was the equivalent of two vehicles hitting head on with each going 80+ miles per hour....IMO. Still doesn't seem real. Had my first helicopter experience last year....will never do it again. (It just felt as if I was defying gravity instead of the flying/soaring experience of a fixed wing aircraft.) ps. Just click on pic to enlarge, ok?

If anyone wants to listen to it. A pilot on city-data doesn't hear anything unusual.

You hear the blades, then a thump, then it replays.

I hate all this technology for the families that are mourning.

New audio of Kobe Bryant helicopter crash discovered; aircraft did not have terrain warning system: NTSB

I agree. This is some news outlet hard up for a click.
I mean. It’s obviously a mounted home camera with no visual of the crash but an audio that could be ...or not..connected to this tragedy.
Have respect, give it to the investigators....not the press!

I believe this sums it up: descent to impact was probably less than a minute. Peace and comfort to the family, friends, and community. :(

New audio of Kobe Bryant helicopter crash discovered; aircraft did not have terrain warning system: NTSB

National Transportation Safety Board investigator Jennifer Homendy said the pilot had rapidly ascended to get out of a cloud bank and the helicopter was at 2,300 feet when it lost contact with air traffic control. It then descended at more than 2,000 feet per minute.

“We know that this was a high-energy impact crash, and the helicopter was in a descending left bank,” Homendy said.

The helicopter crashed on the hillside at an elevation of 1,085 feet, the Times reported. The plane was about 30 feet from clearing the land.

From your link...

- A devastated 16-year-old, Lexi Altobelli, who lost both her parents and little sister in the crash had the heart-wrenching task of traveling to Los Angeles to help identify their bodies, her grandfather told The Sun.

A 16 yr old identifying bodies?

MOO

I think the grandfather's words were most likely misreported by The Sun -- no less. Identification is obviously not being done by family members.

Although not confirmed, I believe Zoboyan probably flew Kobe to the Mamba Center on Saturday -- like countless times before. Death needs no excuse. RIP to all the victims.

From the NTSB presser Tuesday:

The NTSB's Homendy said Zoboyan had a "good amount of experience," with over 8,200 hours of flight time. The day before the accident, he flew from John Wayne to Camarillo, but the weather was clear and he took a more direct flight path, Homendy said.
