I agree for the most part, but there are many killers/rapists who has a loving, nurturing home.

I agree mostly NURTURE. But Nature plays a factor, too.

By all appearances, AJG's mom is a lovely, caring mother. And she is his parent, and off-topic. I can't see where she did anything wrong.

For me, I think it really varies and there are so many factors. I think some things people are born with. Some are learned. Maybe some psychopaths are born that way. Maybe others are made. It's really terrifying. Especially if you, yourself, are trying to raise a good kid.

I do not have a link for this because I researched it a few years ago but there are some factors that put a little new twist on nature vs. nurture for anyone so inclined. Google seasons and pregnancies. I was blown away. Different times of year and in different climates fetuses are more or less prone to this or that disorder when born. That is not dna or environment but it is ' nature' in a way. Fascinating read for folks who are bored or like this kind of information .

In a similar vein, I recall reading a book by Oliver Sacks that discussed a study linking masochism to severe illness at a young age. Apparently being ill at a time when our brains are still developing and neural connections are still being made led to individuals forming "mental" or "subconscious" links between pain and love. Picture a child who is hospitalized numerous times who undergoes painful procedures and is subsequently comforted with loving gestures by parents. I hope I explained this well enough. I can find the actual reference if anyone would like it. Oliver Sacks has several very interesting books about the brain and unusual neurological disorders. I'm sure many have heard of "The Man Who Mistook His Wife for a Hat."

This crime is so horrendous that I cannot even consider the grisly details. Suffice to say, there is no punishment on earth fitting for his crime. I personally don't care about the why's and speculation because nothing could adequately explain what happened. I truly believe there are "bad seeds" among us -- no matter what age -- that do not fit into any category. Thank God he is off the streets. Too bad little Maddy paid for it with her life.

BTW, my parents never let a male baby-sit us back in the dark ages, nor allow us to "climb all over" any male relatives or family friends. My stay-at-home mother kept a close watch on us, and drilled into our heads to always be mindful. Mom would have gone nuts if a male teen-ager hung around us when we were young. No one could have seen this one coming so that makes it even more horrific.

RIP dear Maddy, and fly high with the Angels. We will never forget you.

Your mother had good sense. Wish mine could've seen that about her brother!

I clarified gender.

I said, Children: I have no idea if his attraction is to younger females or younger males or both

It's opinion and it's not off-the-wall looking at the charges against him

I think there is some evidence to support that speculation that he was attracted to younger kids. People witnessed him playing with the 8 yr old girl a dozen times, out behind the building. It is hard for me to imagine my son at 15 spending that much time with an 8 yr old girl. I would have found it very odd.

I can understand a neighborhood group of mixed ages playing together at the pool or something. But to be engaged so often, one on one, just seems very strange behavior for a 15 yr old boy, imo.

K

Do you think sociopaths/psychopaths are born that way or become that way due to trauma, neglect, etc.? I don't know the answer but I do suspect many are "made", especially if the abuse/neglect is a constant or near constant. Can you imagine how that could warp/rewire a mind? I am making no apologies for offenders.

Mamamerced: I think they can be born that way, or born with an inclination that is brought into full bloom by abuse/neglect. There are people who have been through horrific childhood abuse and never turned that experience outwards onto others. There are other people who may have experienced what some would call an ideal childhood and yet commit horrific acts. This is based on personal experience/observation only; I am not an expert.

http://www.criminaldefenselawyer.co...e/sex-crimes/public-urination-law-penalty.htm

Also, I know personally of public urination arrests in FL and LA which resulted in mandatory SO registration.

This talks about urinating in front of children . I do not know anyone who has been arrested as a sex offender for public urination. I think people say things to pretend it is something that is not a big deal. I would really like to read a case where that happened,

Sex offenders are the biggest liars of all and they have their supporters.

In Minnesota, the civilly committed sex offenders sued the state successfully saying it is unconstitutional to commit them after serving their prison term.

These offenders have done the most heinous of crimes. It makes me sick to even read a little about their crimes.

Anyway, here is the reference to public urination.

I am new enough that I don't know where to start such a thread. I actually meant an annual gathering IRL.

But a basement party works, too!
The poster TexMex will offer you virtual BBQ on many threads. Look for him/her.

Worth reading about APD: http://www.friedgreentomatoes.org/articles/apd_sociopathy_psychopathy.php

Excerpt from doc 'On the other hand, the field of criminology tends to treat APD as so synonymous, in fact, with criminal behavior that practically all convicted criminals (65-75%) have it, with criminologists often referring to it as a "wastebasket" category. Antisocials come is all shapes and sizes, and psychologists consider the juvenile version of it to be a juvenile conduct disorder. The main characteristic of it is a complete and utter disregard for the rights of others and the rules of society. They seldom show anxiety and don't feel guilt. Although many people would hope that there's an effective treatment, there's really no effective treatment for them other than locking them up in a secure facility with such rigid rules that they cannot talk their way out.'

Could be both! Donnie Darko is a cult classic and the song seems to reach to a lot of people.

And old(er) people! It's one of my favorites.

No longer available. What was it?

It was a picture of his IG that was posted where Ajg was saying she wasn't an ex girlfriend, at the end he says maybe she's an ex almost. It was weird and now it won't come back up.

"People who like sex offenders"? My goodness, that seems like a rather groundless brush-off.

Well, in the state of Minnesota, the sex offenders who are civilly committed just won their case claiming that it is unconstitutional that they are civlly commited.

They got lawyers to bring this case forward. These are the most horrible of offenders. If you can read their crimes, you have a stronger stomach than I do.

So, yes. There apparently are people who like sex offenders.

Groundless? Think of these people , some who have raped infants, out in your neighborhood. Ho hum. Just a new neighbor.

That wasn't posted by him yesterday. It was cached or whatever (I am not sure how to use that word) yesterday. I can't recall when that one was posted but it definitely wasn't yesterday. His last Instagram post was Sunday (still haven't found out the time) and it was the Mad World video.

Oh yes. There are people who LOVE sex offenders. There is a very popular and large online community for friends and family of inmates and there is a specific section for those who "Love a Sex Offender" and a subset of that section for those who love violent sex offenders. :gaah:

Here is a report, very easy to read, about a brain scientist and psychopathy.

http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=127888976

I will never in one million years think that a little baby born will be a psychopath unless there is abuse or incorrect parenting. Incorrect parenting can be shaming, or leaving a baby in a crib and not paying attention to the baby. Or not answering the baby's cries. Those kinds of things.
