I am worried about who Ashlee would be trying to hide her from. If Ashlee has mental health issue who knows what she is thinking and if it is reality based.

I'm more worried she might have sold her. In which case, the chance she is dead is incredibly high.

According to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s Office, security footage captured Melodee at a “local car rental business” on October 7. She was seen in a hooded sweatshirt and likely a wig, “that is darker and straighter than her natural hair.”

I wish they weren't being so vague about the location of the local car rental business. Sounds as if it is local to Ashlee and Melodee. So if that was the last sighting of Melodee that LE can confirm, there is nothing to indicate Melodee wasn't handed off to someone PRIOR to Ashlee heading to Nebraska. MOO that child could still be in Santa Barbara or anywhere along the way to Nebraska by way of Kansas.

Why aren't we seeing the picture of Ashlee at the car rental agency? I guess that will come out later? Wondering how they know Ashlee also wears wigs, was she wearing one that day? These new photos of her do not look anything like the pictures on the news, how will someone ever recognize Melodee?

Now we know she rented the car 10/7 and returned 10/10, that was a quick, focused, trip - Santa Maria to Nebraska; 21 hr 37 min (1,456.6 mi).

I feel more than ever that Melodee was dropped off with someone to prevent her from being removed from Ashlee's custody again. There was absolutely no need to try and alter their physical appearances, that's very troubling and speaks to her state of mind. So this makes me worry about who she may have been communicating with online - scary possibilities.

I went back to look at her Pinterest profile again, it's gone.

MOO she was asked about social media rumors and assumptions and that was her response. I imagine Melodee's extended family is very concerned given how Ashlee allegedly shut them out of Melodee's life years ago. If Melodee is alive and safe there is zero reason for Ashlee not to produce evidence of her alive and safe. Zero.

So yeah, not gonna speculate or judge the extended family members who are rightfully worried. JMO

I'm way more concerned with Ashlee's motives at this moment. Family is keeping Melodee's image, name and story in the press. That is all they can really do at this point. The rest is up to LE.

That's just one example, there's been a few similar stories like that in recent days from family members. I'm not unconcerned by Ashlee's odd actions though, to be clear....I'm concerned by it all, but I think we need to step back from some of the media hysteria and these smear stories and consider that Ashlee may have her own reasons for wanting to hide Melodee away. She may also have her own reasons for preventing contact with family members. We don't know what else is going on in the background. If that is the case, there's no doubt she's going about her mission all the wrong way of course. I hope she starts cooperating with police soon.

I agree with you in part, but disagree on some points.

Were all the details necessary, particularly what Ashlee’s Mom stated. Not in my opinion, it could have been edited down to brief facts and the point still made.

You mention Ashlee may have her own “reasons” for hiding and keeping Melodee away from family. But I’ll point out that both times she was removed from Ashlee’s custody - Law Enforcement and CPS made those decisions. The family seemed to have nothing to do with the separation and were only notified at the time it occurred. They also know many more details than we do about her history, so our context of what is happening is very different than theirs.

CPS doesn’t remove children for no reason. She was about to be removed again because Ashlee didn’t have her in school. That’s concerning just in itself, God knows what she’s been telling her about why.

Melodee is going to need therapy when she’s found.

My guess is they already know where she went, hire cars generally have trackers on, and can also be tracked via road cameras and CCTV. The fact is they know Ashlee returned home. They just need to pinpoint where Melodee is. Tips seeing Ashlee in a certain location isn't going to help LE if they already know she was there. All moo

If they know where Ashlee went, why haven't they found Melodee yet? I respectfully disagree that tips from the public pinpointing where Ashlee was at specific points in time, wouldn't be helpful. JMO also.
