I think he will indeed be locked away for good. If the evidence proves it, he will be convicted of two murders.

He won't be "homeless" anymore and he won't have to stress about not living up to his father and grandfather's talent and fame because there is no chance for that now. He killed his potential, hurt his family immeasurabley, and solved all his problems. And, he perhaps will still be able to use drugs in prison as, from what I understand, they can be had for a price even behind bars.

He's another case of someone who failed to launch (or thought he failed - there is always time to improve!) and then destroyed everything around him. He's a bit older than most "failure to launch" destroyers, but I think he lasted longer because he had a family who, out of love and good intentions, propped him up.

I can think of several A list actors whose sons are embarrassments, with drugs, born with silver spoons yet did nothing on their own.

Curious if the argument was about Nick asking for money ??

Maybe he was so zonked out on drugs that he stumbled back to the guesthouse and was found blood soaked, passed out. I know, wild theory time.

But his sister would probably know where he was staying.

It seems ironic that drugs took out Carroll O'Connor's son Hugh as well. I remember the public service message from Carroll O'Connor talking about doing everything to get between the kid and the drugs.

Such a sad tragedy, but even sadder that it has become a true epidemic in our society. The jails have a revolving door of drug offenders coming and going. But for the Grace of God go I....

Amateur opinion and speculation

Or prehaps they caught or were told he was doing drugs at the party

Yes, I feel the same….but have a feeling nobody will be posting bail for him.

God I hope not!!! Unfortunately there are some making their deaths political and celebrating them already.

It was very clear that being called "Meathead" really, really bothered him. But then again, Ron Howard still gets called "Opie", Melissa Gilbert still gets called "Half-pint" and the list goes on and on. While Rob considered it derogatory, it was, in fact, an acknowledgement that he was a much loved extended member of many households in America, and around the world.

Amateur opinion and speculation only

Thank God. I was worried about him being released.
I have the impression that LAPD and Brentwood police were keeping a very close eye on him while they waited for search warrants and built their case to charge him. I'm guessing he was on the property most of the time, under their close observation.

It's possible they had been called to the Reiner residence before when Nick had his violent arguments. It's a good chance he was already known to them, especially if he was "living on the streets". I don't know that, but I wouldn't be surprised if something like that comes out.

JMO, but his family no doubt can afford the best defense attorneys who might push for some kind of diminished capacity defense. Big difference between first degree murder and manslaughter.
If he was still on drugs (meth?) they might present him as going into a drug induced frenzy and suddenly attacking them.
And how severe was his supposed mental illness? Had it been diagnosed, or is that a non-factor?
Just speculating here.

On a related point, he might be going through withdrawal right now in jail and that could be hellish. I hope they have him on suicide watch.

I could be wrong here, but I get the feeling there were only two people that were willing to defend him in such a way. And those two people are now dead.
