CA - Murder victims Identified as Rob Reiner and wife Michele - LA Dec 14 2025

Thank you that is a really good clarification.

I was surprised to read it was in a restaurant because in podcasts etc Conan’s annual xmas
party has been described as taking place
in his home

The article is unclear but reading the paragraph previous to the restaurant mention, it seems the restaurant event was a few months prior to the Christmas party.

Yes the reporting is confusing. CNN reports the Christmas party was held at Conan’s home.

A source told CNN that 32-year-old Nick Reiner was seen having an argument with his father at a holiday party Saturday at Conan O’Brien’s home. The couple’s daughter discovered them Sunday in their Brentwood home, according to a source.

This sums up what NR wanted to do......

“I come from a nice family,” he said. “I’m not supposed to be out there on the streets and in homeless shelters doing all these… things.” “just wanted to get back to my old life of like smoking weed, kind of taking some pills, like doing whatever I wanted.” “Just everybody use or don’t use… whatever.”

and asking people if they are famous, taking inventory so he could throw it in his parents face later? Seems like he was always looking for something to blame them for.

I think many people are eternal material optimists, believing there's no problem that can't be fixed if we throw enough money and science at it. Or enough love.

For myself, I believe there is a tragic side to life, and human nature. And no one ever is or ever will be, guaranteed a happily ever after.

What I think about is, who were the monsters who introduced young Nick to drugs, and sold them to him over and over again, profiting from this misery.

They know.

But they can't give up either.

My friend sat last week tears running down her face "all the kings horses and all the kings men couldn't put him back together again" she paraphrased the ages old fairy tale.

The futility, the dread, the inevitable.

They know but they can't give up either. It's the human in them.

Imo

In my opinion only, when I saw pictures of him from several years ago and recent pictures, my first thought was that he had been prescribed one of the newer generation of antipsychotics.

Now, that is interesting. I have really wondered about those drugs. Especially "Black Box" use, prescription off label usage. And the effects on developing brains of teens. Having followed several of those cases, of course, they end up badly, with the adults ending up usually in prison for some extreme violent event.

Chicken and Egg....did these kids up being more violent due to the psychopharmaocology? Or were they on that path anyway?!

My opinion is Nick was high on something and maybe got paranoid from people giving him awkward looks at the party due to his behavior. He probably over-thought it and concluded it was some kind of conspiracy from his father and may have confronted his parents who probably re-emphasized how uncomfortable he was making the guests. He may have snapped and taken their lives then.

60 years ago before Reagan, he would have been institutionalized and this couldn't have happened.
I agree. We need the ability to civilly commit people to long-term institutional settings. And jail isn’t what I’m referring to. It’s been proven over and over again. Jmo

He is 32 now and Idk when he was possibly prescribed these drugs, if at all.

But Congress closed most of those institutions in the 80s and 90s.

Now is the time I wish I could use multiple reactions on your post. Every word of it resonates. being the parent of a seriously mentally ill child I recognize all of it. It's the parent in them.

⭐ 👏

How does one wash their hands of their child? Even when tough love hasn't worked, throwing resources at it hasn't worked, loving it away hasn't worked, they are still your child. 🫂

That's addiction talking: It's so.simple - just give me endless money, a nice place to live, and leave me alone to be high.

I guess thats what he meant when he said said “ do it my way” he didnt want to go to a treatment centre. He wanted to “ rehab “ at home. Good luck.

Personality disorder psychiatry definition "a deeply ingrained pattern of behaviour of a specified kind that deviates markedly from the norms of generally accepted behaviour, causing long-term difficulties in personal relationships or in functioning in society."

The more I read about NR, the more convinced I am that he has a personality disorder, rather than a long term mental illness. However, due to his addiction issues, it's certainly possible there was also some drug induced psychosis at play.

MOO

Other than working with his father 10 years ago on the film does anyone know if NR held a job?

I suspect he never even tried to hold one. After all, he was from a "good" family

Not lost on me that he seemed to resent his father's success and yet also seemed to think that success should afford him a life of ease and a nonstop party.

Rob Reiner and his wife Michele were found in bed with their throats cut and may have been asleep when they were murdered, a source close to the investigation claimed to the Daily Mail.

The gruesome detail could help establish a timeline of the killings, for which the couple's 32-year-old troubled son Nick has been arrested.

Sounds like they were ambushed.

Even in childhood pictures he has those ‘dead eyes’ that peeps are commenting on.

He’s been a very sick person for all of his life I’d bet.

Yoga teacher said he screamed like the world was on fire.
