I agree the $$ for AJ and team is for a defense that will not doubt lead to a plea deal for a more mental care (within a prison since he committed two murders) for the rest of his life. They don't want him on the street but they don't want him in general population. The death option will be off the table. This will never see a courtroom...the family would have to testify and relive this whole awful event.

I was considering how cut and dried this case seems to be, and that makes me suspicious. Everything has been presented to us; victims, motive, method, alleged perpetrator, all wrapped up and ready to go. I'm not buying it.

A few Websleuth members, have already posted about apparent inconsistencies, in the timeline and location of Nick. I was thinking about how a 32 year old chronic drug addict, allegedly murdered two able bodied healthy adults, in their own home; a multimillion dollar mansion, in an affluent suburb in the Hollywood Hills.

It's possible a deranged, angry chronic drug addict murdered Rob and Michele Reiner. However, a murder and crime scene such as this, is more consistent with an experienced, violent and vicious killer. Someone who, either held a deep-seated personal grudge against the Reiners, or was paid to murder them.

I hope you are correct. I think that would be best for all. Him, the family (living victims), society, etc. and it would honor the deceased victims' apparent decades old wish to help their sick son. JMO

The Sinclair Gas station is about two miles from the hotel. And the hotel is five minutes from the metro train stop, which goes directly to the Exposition Blvd stop where Nick was apprehended by cops.

Prosecutors have alleged N Reiner stabbed his parents in "approximately the early morning hours" on Sunday, according to a news release. But a specific time has not been disclosed.

12/12/25 Friday: One source told the Daily Mail that Rob & Michele ate at the Amici restaurant Friday, the night before they attended a holiday party at Conan O'Brien's house with their son.

He then crossed the street before pausing outside a consignment store called The RealReal & then heading up the sidewalk.

What I have seen is that there was blood in his hotel room bathroom and bed and a sheet over the window but I have not yet seen anything about Nick being covered in blood ? Did I miss it ? Easily could have as I have not 100% followed this thread - appreciate it

So very sad that the remaining family is dealing with all of this….I can’t even imagine. Losing both your parents in this horrible way and your brother arrested for their murders….and having the whole world watching.

Now they are arranging a funeral….and it is also Romy’s birthday next week without her parents who she was so close to.

If he indeed checked in to the hotel in person as I have read and had no blood on him - how did the blood get into the room ... did he secure the hotel room first and then go back and murder his parents only then returning to the hotel ?

So that would seem to indicate that the parents were killed after he checked in @4am and then he returned to the hotel after the murder. Maybe indicating premeditation?

Or maybe after/during his fight with the parents they said you need to cool down and get off of this property tonight pls go get a hotel room and that's when he left with his little red knapsack.
Earlier the parents took him to the party bc they were worried about his mental state and did not want to leave him alone - so I think maybe not likely but certainly possible.

Lots of loose ends this early in a case of course. Sorry to ramble on

IF Nick were ever to be released, I fear he would go to where he was familiar with -- his siblings.
Which could put both of them in danger.
Imo, he needs to be locked away somewhere securely for the remainder of his days.
No other option seems safe for others or for himself-- he's a danger to himself as well.

I don't think his defense would be to trash his Dad. I think his resentment finally came to escalation where he wanted to silence everything and his impulse behavior took over. Seems like he may have fantasized killing of Dad in his mind. I think Dad was intended target and Mom was because she was there.

Will be interesting to find out whose DNA is all of the blood and blood splatter in motel room. Maybe he tried to self-harm in motel room after the killings. If the blood was just from his parents, I would think blood would be in the motel hallway carpet floors leading into room 207. I don't think his parents would kick him out early Sunday moning cause of a fight or I would expect they would get him a hotel room for him. They would know that asking him to leave would cause a huge fight and I just don't think they would risk that without security or other family members there, as he tended to freak out (per his Being Charlie interview). I think he acted on impulse when both parents were asleep.

I would think he would shower at parents house or guesthouse. Would be interesting to know what clothes if any were left in hotel room or found in backpack. If he did not change and or shower at home before leaving home post murders, there would be trail of blood everywhere he walked in my opinion.

I’m mostly through the thread. I just have to say I’m sorry, but there’s no excuse for what he did to his parents. I don’t feel a bit sorry for him. I’ll save my sympathy for his siblings and parents. What a loser. He had advantages most of us never have and threw them away. He’ll find out now how lucky he was.

I would like to more about the motel timeline. Check in 4am and then housekeeper cleaning later that morning does not seem right. With all blood splatter on walls and in room, I would think motel would call police which did not appear to happen, as daughter's roommate did. Sounds like check in at 4am would be until next day and that is was police detective work to get housekeeper to enter room 207. NR probably had a habit of staying in motel rooms during binge drug episodes. Also, sounds like NR went to party because his dad wanted to keep him exposed to celebrities, producers, writers, etc. Just weird to think it was to look after a 32 year old. Maybe he went to party, left, got high, returned buzzed, triggered fight with Dad in public, taken home, murdered parents to silence any yelling, and back to motel.

If he did not change and or shower at home before leaving home post murders, there would be trail of blood everywhere he walked in my opinion.

Other possibilities -- He could have cut his hand, let's say, during the murders, and wrapped it up tight as he transported back to the hotel, but then unwrapped it to try to clean up once in his room and it started bleeding again. OR, maybe he brought his bloody clothes with him in a plastic bag and tried to rinse them in hotel sink/shower but made a mess of it.

We haven't heard of any bus/taxi/uber driver noticing bloodstains (even on the seats after the fact, if he was wearing dark enough clothes to conceal blood during his ride), or any mention of bloodstains out in the street.
