Rob Reiner said he believed his son Nick Reiner was in "a really good place" during an interview just three months before the director and his wife Michele Singer Reiner were killed.
In newly resurfaced clips from Reiner's September interview with NPR, the filmmaker, who was promoting Spinal Tap II: The End Continues at the time, revisited his 2015 movie Being Charlie, which he directed and Nick co-wrote. The film follows a teenager struggling with addiction, echoing some of Nick’s self-described “dark years” after he started to use drugs at a young age.
