I am not going to add it to "cultural differences." If it was so common why are her sisters so shocked?

Her sisters didn't express anything but acceptance til the autopsy came back. Prior to that, they only made positive statements about Jonah and they all attended Rebecca's funeral in peace. You'd think if they thought suicide wasn't a possiblity, they would have gone public with their protests. Remember, according to the sisters, Jonah told them it was suicide from the get-go.

I don't think so. They have never expressed "acceptance." And her sister has been saying no way RN would kill herself long before the investigation was complete.

Acrylic paint is almost always squeezed from the tube directly onto the brush, particularly when painting block letters or signs. That's the beauty of acrylic paint - it gives a nice, solid block of color.

Also, artists who paint in block letters are painting in form, meaning that it doesn't resemble one's handwriting at all. A good artist can duplicate a font so that it will appear to be produced by a machine because the letters will be precise. You wouldn't be able to tell block letter painting (if done by someone who knows art) from one artist to another.

My humble two cents as an artist.

I really couldn't disagree more. Paint is almost never squeezed directly from the tube onto a brush, or dabbed from a tube.

I discussed this with my mother who has been doing calligraphy for 30 years. She used to make banners for all sorts of occasions using acrylic tube paint and has never used the paint in that manner. She doesn't remember anyone in her group that has used this method, either. Over the years this entails at least 20 people as the group has grown and changed.

From two art instruction sites that I could find online for free,
both include a palette or other (saucer) for an initial deposit of the paint.

More than likely the description of block letters has to do with with a printing style (as opposed to cursive) that is, by default, wider because of the width of the brush. The style of printing will still carry the characteristics of the writer. Only stencils would deliver such a uniform look as to be devoid of the writer's innate style.

I can always identify my mom's style whether block, cursive or special font.

This is why it would have been important to publish the photo of the message on the door in order to see if anyone could recognize the style. Also it should have been examined thoroughly by a handwriting expert.

I don't understand why some people have this idea that asians have a monolithic homogenous culture. there are so many countries in asia and each one has their own cultures and beliefs. so whatever suicide beliefs there is in korea, japan ,etc does not necessarily apply to other asian countries and vice-versa.

secondly, asians who grew up in other countries in europe, or United States, etc do not necessarily have the habits or beliefs of their immigrant parents. Who among you have asian friends who are already americanized as apple pie ??
You might as well think of these americanized asians as "american with an asian face" . they may still be eating asian food, but they have that american attitude or beliefs already. comeon guys !!!

can we make a separate thread about the cause of Maxie's death ? geez whiz, the title of this thread is "Rebecca Zahau Nalepa Was Rebecca's death a homicide or a suicide?"

I don't think so. They have never expressed "acceptance."

They praised Jonah when Rebecca's death first was announced. The sister gave a statement to the press that was nothing but positive. She didn't say, "Jonah says my sister killed herself but we don't believe it". She praised him.

You are correct. I only mention the suicides in a sweeping statement because that's how suicide statistics have been assembled. They list Asian women as the leading victims of suicide.

You can even check out the paint company's website and they'll list the ability to squeeze the paint onto the brush as a bonus.

I'm a prosessional artist and I've taught art at university level. This really is the most common way to use acrylic paint, but none of that has any bearing on whether or not Rebecca painted that note.

Do you have a link for her/their praise?

I have many more questions about the way Max died than I do about Rebecca's death.

IMO

yes please do. time to break out the conversations to topic specific. for example you may want a thread to discuss the autopsy or other specific issues.

  • #532
then someone should create a separate thread about it. it deserves its own thread.

Once again the freeze frame from video shot by helicopter and the SDSO PC photo.

1) looking at the shadows in the video frame, what time of day does that indicate it may have been taken?

2) the photo as shown in the PC, as far as I can tell, has no shadows .. was this taken the same day?

I have my own ideas, but would like yours ..

The link has been posted in the links thread.

Examiner.com did an interview with Anne Bremner. Here is what she said:

http://www.examiner.com/news-analys...ahau-family-attorney-debunks-suicide-findings

Reporter: How has the closing of this case, calling it a suicide, personally affected you and your beliefs in the judicial system?

Anne Bremner: "It has disillusioned me. I never used to think that there was a different standard of justice for those of wealth."[/I]

Where have you been Anne? Surely you jest!! OJ, Baretta, Ted Kennedy, Will (Kennedy) Smith, etc! :maddening:
