For families that are actually home schooling, and not using it as an excuse to isolate and abuse their kids, yes, there are HS co-ops where the kids/families go to regularly scheduled classes/events like music lessons, sports lessons, the library, and a bazillion other educational destinations. For families that aren't actually home schooling, they almost never show up on the HS radar, and almost never known by any other HS families in the area. It's hard to tell from what we know, if these kids were actually being educated or not. I'm sure LE has interviewed all the kids and have a really good idea of what was really going on in that house.
Exactly. That^^ is an important distinction.

When a family really is homeschooling, and doing it sincerely and correctly, there are lots of other interactions with teachers, librarians, coaches, other parents, and friends.

When they are not, they are secluded and can do all lessons online, with very little interaction from prying eyes.

I agree and it is up to the CA GOVT to make a choice on funding to help and assist the agency. They need to make the decision to put $$$ where it obviously is desperately needed.
Not knocking the social workers but the ones who control the purse strings.

I would not have even been aware of this extreme problem in CA if not for Noah McIntosh's most atrocious & despicable case.
Yes my heart bleeds for his Mother.

lets not forget Gabriel Fernandez.

CPS couldn't have been involved as of yet since they just moved to California like 3 weeks to a month.

they moved here a few months ago they were living closer to Tahoe before.

I think it was Hart.

OT, but the military aspect made me think of the little boy whose sperm donor was in the military. The girlfriend was raising him and abused him terribly. He was hospitalized in terrible condition and we didn't know if he would make it. He had some weird nickname? Anyone remember that? I was wondering how he was doing.

yesss from the inland empire.... i forgot that case.

That was my question. Kid looks super bruised. Why no call to the police?

idk who took the pic but it was at a library. they "home schooled him because they move a lot". sounds familiar.

In the interview with the mother of the three kids that were living with Roman's parents, she mentioned that Roman's Mom had been homeschooling the kids.

So I think there's your answer, once again Gitana, about why no one called police. If the kid's aren't in school every day, fewer chances for anyone to notice bruises and other injuries. :(

his step mother.

Welcome JMapes. :)
Thanks @margarita25! I've been lurking long enough and felt I should jump in to participate. These are terrible tragedies that bring us together, but I'm glad the togetherness comes from all of us caring so fiercely.

Apparently not familiar that 911 is NATIONAL.
I suppose if one moves around frequently it might be confuzzling.:rolleyes:
Pure speculation on my part though.

Yet, didn’t they find him in the house they all lived in?

That's what they said.

I'm forever misplacing my salt shaker.
