I seen that picture only once and I could hardly even look for more than a couple seconds :( I don’t even know what to think at this point. But I can’t look at that pic again. Poor little guy.

I blew it up to 400%; IMO, I'm convinced it's just something behind his left that's casting shadows down.

I thought the coloring was kind of strange to be bruising -mom of 4 boys here- my nephew had those wash off tattoos that he put on his wrists and at first glance I was like “what the heck happened?” Then as he came closer I seen the super faded design, I thought he was seriously hurt at first. As for little Roman I looked at the photo and couldn’t bring myself to zoom or even look that long so I don’t have much of an opinion about it other than I hope it’s not injury like you said and is just shadowing

Placerville police said Thursday they have identified the biological parents of all the children involved in the investigation and that they will be in contact with them.

Police said they are purposefully releasing few details in the case, explaining: “There is very sensitive information that if released, could jeopardize the investigation.”

“PLACERVILLE, Calif. —

Brian Hinton said Saturday started off as a regular workday. The electric lineman was working alongside Jordan Piper, the father of 11-year-old Roman Lopez who was found dead that night.

‘Everything was normal. You wouldn’t have expected anything. It was like any other day,’ Hinton said.

Roman was reported missing Saturday morning. He was found dead hours later. Police said Roman’s death is suspicious and are investigating.

Investigators said Roman’s autopsy was completed Tuesday but did not release any details.

‘We do not have the pathologist’s report and will not be providing any further information in reference to the autopsy,’ Placerville police said in a news release Thursday.

Both Hinton and Piper are from out of state. Hinton said he met Piper in October when they both started working in Placerville and became friends. Hinton said they are linemen working on a fire-hardening project to rebuild infrastructure for the electrical grid.

According to Placerville police, Piper moved from Michigan to California for work. He brought his wife Lindsay Piper, his son Roman and seven other children along with him.

Hinton said Jordan Piper and his family lived in several rentals before settling into a house on Coloma Street in Placerville after Thanksgiving. He said that foothills neighborhood is where he ended up searching after he noticed Jordan Piper left work early on Saturday around 11 a.m.

‘I said, “Hey, where’s Jordan at?” He said, “Oh, he had a family emergency. He had to run home,”’ Hinton said.

About three hours later, Hinton got a text message from Jordan Piper with photos of Roman.

‘That’s when he informed us, “My son’s missing.” You could tell that he was upset on the phone. He had a hard time talking,’ Hinton said.

Hinton met Piper at the Home Depot parking lot in Placerville to help with the search.

‘His cheeks were flush. His eyes were red. You could tell that he was crying. You could tell that he was shook up,’ Hinton said. ‘He told us that his son, they believe he ran away, that they’re certain he left between midnight and 6 a.m.’

About 40 coworkers and law enforcement teams helped search for Roman until around 10:30 p.m.

‘We went over near the house and started searching on foot, knocking on doors, looking in sheds, looking in dumpsters, garages, trailers, anywhere that we thought he might be,’ Hinton said.

He said the next morning he was shocked to learn that police had found Roman’s body. Hinton is now on the road heading back home to Ohio because their job in Placerville is done. Days later, he said he is unable to make sense of what happened.

Why would a pathology report take that long?
I thought it was a toxicology report that takes so long?

Okay - here's the picture of Roman in the library. I do believe they are bruises... light shadow does not have a black/blue hue to them in the rest of the pictures.

A toxicologist studies medications and other substances and determines the harmful effects. A pathologist studies cells and tissues to determine the presence of disease.

Thank you Niner, that does look like bruising. Where did this picture come from? I've looked at social media pages and don't find that particular picture.

I don't recall "where" I got this picture - I just had it saved on my laptop when I first saw it.... sorry! :( It was right in the beginning of the case - could be back a few pages - or... from an article! Yes, I'm old.... :)

That picture showed up in post #53, I’m pretty sure it came from a closed FB group.

By searching ED sheriff arrest logs and inmate info you can see a 20 year old was taken into custody in on 1/11 and has felony charges (he has been arrested in Placerville a few years ago. Here are his recent charges :
CHILD CRUELTY:*** INJ/DTH
$50,000.00
664/245(A)(1) F ATTEMP ASSUALT W DEADLY
$50,000.00[/QUOTE
This information seems to now be made more difficult to find but the bail
Has increased dramatically....

Looking at that picture, I’m in tears again. I tried to reach through my iPad to stroke his little face and hug him. Who could harm that precious boy?

i tried to find this and I couldn’t, I think it’s harder to find now. I responded asking if that was a relative to Roman and some people here said they didn’t think so. Can you still pull up log off when that guy was in custody?

Whatever else is going on, I am not getting the impression that either parent is responsible for their son's death.

This is so sad.
Do we know the ages of the three older boys in the home?
And , the post above references the children reading about Roman's death in a case manager's file. Do we know if all children appeared together in family/dependency court? I'm not familiar with CA law regarding how long the state can investigate guardians while keeping their children away (temp placement). The parents must have requested a hearing?

I really wish we knew more about this guy. Just speculation but I am wondering if this 20 year old somehow is responsible for giving Roman drugs. It seems to me they are waiting on toxicology report before announcing cause of death. Both Dad and Stepmom spoke to newspaper yesterday, so they are not in custody.
