There was no updated information for what, 10 months? And now this. There is/was a specific purpose for why this information was released at this time.

Something is going on and this is shaking the bushes to flush it out.

Looking back, I see it was 20/20 that did an interview with KP. I missed that. I don't know if 20/20 pays for interviews or not. I guess they could sell the rights to Sherri's story as mentioned.

A media outlet like 20/20 can't sell rights they don't own in the first place. Getting paid for an interview is not selling all rights to one's story, It'd be more like publishing an article with an outlet--the owner of that story would generally sell "one-time rights" (maybe with reprint rights--depends what was agreed to). In other words, media can't sell rights to your story to another outlet--the person retains rights to their story unless selling "all rights"...and even then, it'd just be for that particular article or segment.

At least, that's how it works with print media.

After further research, I have to concede your point. They would have used flags or maybe string but not ribbon or tape and certainly not bumping up against the evidence like that.

So now I had another thought. It's been suggested that it's a sports bra or a waist pouch. What about a detachable hoodie?

I just had a thought pop into my head, too. Could it be something left over from Halloween/Trick or Treating? Like part of a kids' costume? The type of material (based on what can be gleaned from a lo-res screenshot) certainly reminds me of the type of garments worn around that time.

I want to know why LE would share the info about SP's 'texting relationship' with the man from MI if they have cleared the man? What might be their purpose for sharing this info with the public?

Maybe they want the man from Michigan to think that they only know about the texting and nothing else so that he will then slip up and make a mistake. Take all of the pressure off of him so he thinks he's in the clear. JMO.

Obviously if there was a gunshot a neighbor would have heard it and LE would know about it by now. JMO

If it were a black glove as has been suggested, then surely they would have found DNA on it.
Since they have mentioned the other sources of DNA that they found, I can't imagine why they wouldn't have mentioned a glove at the abduction scene.
I can't find where this piece of evidence was ever identified in the media.
Either it isn't related or it is part of the 'investigation' that they are keeping quiet about.

I am quite certain there are countless pieces of, well, things marked at potential crime scenes that may or may not end up in the background of a video that LE never comes out to explain to the public. Just because this particular piece marked - that may or may not even be related at all - generated pages of discussion on WS, doesn't mean that LE will ever address it.
