Santa Clara LE is on...says they know there is a chance she is not alive, hoping she is, of course, but also want to put the "bad guy" in jail...

Statistically it's far more likely she left (at least initially) willingly, than not.

Statistics really don't mean much to the individual child victim (Sierra) that has disappeared without a trace as it is unknown which statistical group she falls in.

She could just as well be in this group:

• Each year 3,600 to 4,200 children are abducted by someone outside the family; 1/2 of them are age 12 or older; 2/3 are female.-Finklehor

NG (hysterical) producer trying to push the handcuffs and condoms back into the story...
Sheriff does say they are "anxiously awaiting" forensics on all items submitted to lab..."great amount of items being processed" (phone, clothing, Sierra's DNA, etc....)

"We believe she was taken-could be an acquaintance or a stranger" SC County Sheriff

Just catching up, are the cadaver dogs still searching?

Has anyone thought that just maybe that the phone could have been tossed underhanded from the passenger side. You could chuck it quite far that way.

I have a pretty good swing. If I was wanting to fling the cell phone out 20-30 feet I would sling it out of the window sideways like a frisbee.

IMO

Just as I thought. LE really doesn't know.

Mom left at 6AM...was told that last text was after 7am, right before she would be leaving around 7:15...bus comes around 7:25...took the picture of herself close to the time before she left...

On my side of the country (east coast), kids do go to the mall. My daughter and four friends went today, in fact. I just had a talk with my daughter about why you don't give your number to a guy you meet at the mall, including that he could be a perv/stalker. Her friend group is pretty naive, IMO, although she has "dated." Still, I don't think she understands that an older guy could pose as a teen, for instance.

While I pretty much believe Sierra was abducted, it's possible that she was abducted by someone whom she had contact with in some shape or form. That could include someone she met at the mall, met somewhere else, etc. JMO.

One of the only things I liked about FB when my kids were in high school was that they learned to scope out new friends and potential dates by looking closely at their FB's. If my DD and her friends met some guys from another school at the mall or a football game, the FIRST thing they would do when they got home was sleuth his FB. LOL They could usually find other friends on the guys FB that they had in common then the girls would ask those friends about them. Worked great, imo.

Mom says she was always in a rush in the morning, thinks it would be close to 7:15AM when she left...does not know if the photo had a message attached...

Sounds like semantics;

Statistically, it's far more likely she left willingly. That's the "statistical group" she most likely falls in.

The message and photo were separate...nothing critical to investigation...something about school...

So Santa Clara LE really didn't say anything on NG. Could be alive; could be dead. Could be an acquaintance; could be a stranger.

Believe she was planning on going to school...would have told someone if she wasn't...do believe it was an abduction...books and bag were in one location, wedged between a building and a cactus, sheriff says...(wedged??)

  • #417
Sheriff says they can't tell if bag was placed or thrown, either could have been done...

Sheriff: text sent to friend. Friend answered back. No big deal ... it was about SCHOOL. Text was sent around 7:11 am. Sheriff believes she was going to school. Talking to all her friends, Sheriff believes it was an abduction. Everything was found together (purse items/book) between a building and a cactus (bush?). Hard to tell if thrown or placed there. EIther could have been done Per Sheriff Laurie Smith.

NG said "wedged". IMO

Well, that was something we didn't hear before. Maybe the bag was actually "secreted".
