I was away for a couple of days. I don't know why, but I always hope I'm going to log in to find some miraculous news when I take a break here. I was especially hoping for news in Susan's case. Nothing new, in any of the cases I've been following.

Maybe it's just me but it seems like almost everyone has.

I should clarify, I haven't and I know many of us here still care, but I also feel pretty much lost on what else to do. It makes me very sad for her. Whatever has happened to her, even if it's "missing on purpose," I so want her to be found.

They've always been pretty responsive when I posted on the Roseville PD Facebook site, in that I usually hear back quickly that they're still looking for her. It gives me hope they're still aware of her, but I don't know that there's any active searching going on. It doesn't seem like it. IMO.

I know... same here.

I think people DO care but unfortunately I think it's mostly those of us here on WS, who care but don't know what else to do. It makes me want to cry for her. (ok I admit it, I HAVE cried for her). I literally feel sick when I realize she is or was so close to me geographically speaking and I feel like there's nothing productive I can do at this point. I've gotten the word out to friends/family who live and work out there including one at the trainyard and one in LE, but nothing has helped. Hoping, wishing, worrying, crying, screaming, etc. won't get her found. It's so frustrating.

It Starts with the Police and family. When the police no longer seem to be productive in the search for Susan, then it HAS to be the family.
From what I have read, the family has hired a private detective. Maybe there are no leads. Maybe the family IS that private, BUT they weren't THAT private to start a facebook page for her (which is no longer updated) and HER SON was a member, or still is a member of web sleuths, but does NOT post anymore, so the family was NOT that private in the beginning because there are posts and interviews of her son and her husband gave several interviews.
It IS SAD, but if the family is not willing to provide media help, and at this point I am not even talking about TV stations, but forums like websleuths and her own MISSING facebook page, then there isn't anything anyone can do to MAKE the family WANT to speak to the media. Maybe they feel they have done the necessary steps, maybe they feel they got her name out there, maybe they don't feel a need to continue. I cannot understand this, particularly when her husband feels she was kidnapped and both her husband and her son suspect foul play. Maybe in their mind, they feel they did the (minimal) for Susan which was good enough for them.
Sad, yes. But it starts with the family....................and they don't outwardly show that they are Now interested in Susan. Whether that be fact or fiction, who is to say. ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS. Maybe they are speechless. Maybe their vocabulary and thought process is limited. Maybe it is the way they cope.
We KNOW that WE CARE about SUSAN.
I guess if the family cares, then they show it differently, or don't show it at all anymore.......it makes a person scratch their head to even know that they USED to give interviews, USED to post here and USED to post on her facebook page. Everything is in the PAST.
I guess that's where Susan's memory will be to them, publicly speaking, all in the PAST. They seem like they've moved on.......

This is my opinion only, but honestly if I were a family member of Susan's I would be very disheartened to read some of the criticisms and judgements cast by complete strangers on this thread. And I sure wouldn't feel like posting here anymore.

We have NO IDEA what Susan's family is going through! Please remember there was a grandbaby that was born into this family not all that long ago, and from the way Susan's son's post was worded, it made me suspect there were complications with the pregnancy/birth. Those complications may have continued and further stressed a family that is already under an inhumane amount of stress. They may feel like their attention must be directed to the person they CAN help (the baby, or perhaps the mama) and that the professionals (police, private detectives) are in the best position to help find Susan.

Please, can we give just this family the benefit of the doubt and not make statements that imply that they don't care about finding Susan?

As far as the facebook page that the family no longer updates, it has always been positive, so it does not make sense why the facebook page is no longer being updated if it was because of posters. I have not read any criticism's or judgments on the facebook page that would deem that the family or administrator, etc, would not want to post there anymore.

I would understand the fact that there is a new baby in the family... And there may be some subsequent concerns with baby and/or mother...

But that does not explain to me the WHOLE picture...

I have witnessed justifications of each and every action of an individual( not this case)...

but when ALL the picture is looked at... In TOTAL...

then experience tends to keep us asking those questions that have been avoided... And not answered...

As an example to my post above...

a person calls in sick to work one day... Says s/he has a migraine... Can't come in...

Calls in sick the next day... Nausea from migraine...

Next day... Calls in weak from nausea from the migraine...

Next day work gets a call... Person has to go to the doctor to get a remedy for migraines...

Person calls in the next day... Couldn't get in to see the doctor the prior day... So will have to miss work for a doctor's appointment today...

In the example above... Each of the "excuses" were quite valid...

But taken as a whole... The boss is wondering if this employee with a migraine is actually in Las Vegas... Or somewhere other than in his/her sick bed...

No one has been cleared in the investigation by LE...

that would seem to me that LE is not being provided the answers they need to solve the case, either...

I will bow out of this thread and keep my opinions to myself. But I would ask again that you all consider who might be reading this thread and how hurtful some of these posts may be when taken in a different light.

My point is, that we don't have the whole picture. Honestly (and this is not directed to you in particular, IHAVENOCLUE) some of the posts here read as feeling quite entitled to know every little thing about Susan's family. Which to my mind, is quite inappropriate.

Answers to questions here may have been avoided, but there may well have been very good reasons that have nothing to do with anything suspicious on the part of the family. And besides, why would anyone here think the family owes Websleuths anything?

I must be missing something....maybe I just haven't been here long enough.

Just as there could be innocent reasons why they are not posting here, there could be similar reasons why they are not updating the Facebook page.

I just think its a huge leap of assumption for posters to pronounce the reason for lack of updates is because of a lack of caring on the family's part.

I'm sorry if I ever seemed to be directly criticizing the family. I'm not. I think they're in a horrible position. It's just so very frustrating to be local, wanting desperately to help, and having no idea what to do.

I will admit it adds a layer of frustration when the family doesn't seem to even be looking for her anymore - but I know there might be a dozen reasons for that.

I want to see her found.
