MADERA, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) — Officials continue to search for a missing 2-year-old Madera boy as they seek home surveillance video from the public near his home around the time of his disappearance.

In their search for Thaddeus Sran, 2, who went missing Wednesday morning, Madera Police urged any residents near 800 C Street for any surveillance video that may show vehicles in the area between 10 p.m. Tuesday and 8:30 a.m. Wednesday to call 559-675-4220.

Officers and other agencies, including the FBI, are searching a one-mile radius from the Sran residence for the child.

Interesting that LE is asking for videos to look at vehicles in the area, while he was asleep. Those videos could show any suspicious suspect vehicles lurking near the home. Or they could show a vehicle leaving the home?

Having a feeding tube qualifies him for some amount if hourly, in-home nursing care via Medicaid waiver. The social worker connected to his pediatric feeding clinic / gastroenterologist would know if he was getting these services. If so, when was the last time he had services?

Typically, families are allowed a certain number of care hours per month and can structure it to best suit their needs.

RSBM - Does anyone know if COVID has caused a decrease or cease in theses benefits? If parents have not had the help they’re accustomed to, I could certainly see them becoming overwhelmed and snapping.

I don't have much to say about this case, but wanted to share my experience with feeding tubes. My niece was born with gastroschisis and has a feeding tube. It is not unusual for her to sleep all night, much much longer than her twin brother. In fact mom says it is common for feeding tube kiddos to sleep well because their needs are being met with the tube. SO what I'm saying is that this little guy may be an excellent sleeper so his parents don't need to check in on him as often. And depending on the level of comfort the parents have, they may not feel it necessary to look in on him often.

Kaydence - I completely agree. As the parent of a special needs teen, you grow accustomed to the child’s routine. Our teen will sleep 10-12 hours. Unless we have plans that require her to get around earlier, we just let her be. We don’t check on her in the middle of the night. Even as an infant, we just used a baby monitor.

I’m really praying this is a custody battle and the non-custodial parent has taken Thaddeus. I don’t like to think of the other options.

Just joining the thread. I, too, hope it’s a custody issue and not something more sinister, though there seems to be no indication of a parental rights issue yet. But even so, the “non-custodial” parent would have to get into a presumably locked home and take Thaddeus (and I assume there’s equipment/gear he needs?) and get out without anyone inside hearing?

This is going to be a bad one I think. I hope I’m wrong.

How long could someone with a feeding tube go without there being severe health issues if they did not have access to the necessary care?

Is it odd that we haven't seen the parents plea for his return as of yet?

  • #46
Have they said when anyone other than the parents have seen this baby since they moved in?

Listening to the news tonight (im kinda local), they said that it looked like someone may have taken him out a window....and that they will be chking the cameras in the area.

Then didnt say the window was disturbed, just that there was no other obvious way at the time.

‪Family of #MissingChild Thaddeus Sran announce a $5,000 reward for any info to find the child.‬

‪While police have yet to officially say anything, an uncle believes Thaddeus was abducted.

Dennis Valera

MADERA, Calif. (KGPE) –As authorities continue to search for a missing toddler, the boy’s family is offering a reward for any information to his whereabouts.

Meanwhile, Madera Police say there have been no major breaks in the case yet. Sran’s uncle, Jujhar “Junior” Singh, said the family believes the child was abducted.

It’s been a rough couple of days for Sran’s family. Singh said all of the boy’s medical conditions — like the fact he eats through a feeding tube — have them particularly worried.

They want him back with his parents ASAP.

“For just being two-years-old, he’s already been through so much. Even though he’s only two, he’s going to remember [this situation] and it will scar him,” Singh said.

The urgency has caused the family to create a $5,000 reward for information to find Sran.

Thanks, @Quiet Time! Until we get more information I'm calling an abduction through a window BS. IMO LE is "considering" all possibilities, in part because they need to appear like they're not honing in on a single theory. It's important for LE to investigate all leads and all possibilities in order to avoid a defense attorney claiming tunnel vision down the road when a suspect is arrested. MOO.

What are the odds that Thaddeus was capable of climbing out a window and crawling so far as to be out of search range by morning? Or what are the odds that a criminal combed the neighborhood looking for a child and decided a house that was fenced in on all sides was a good target?

P.S. And who wants a special needs child that requires much care and a feeding tube? Would an abductor take the time to purchase medical supplies? I think not. MOO.

Do we have a map of the area he lives in? Not feeling this at all. I’m hoping he’s safe but ugh. MOO

Hopefully they checked the dumpsters ...

Ugh. It is usually a completely unbelievable story that an able-bodied child leaves their home on their home in the middle of the hight. But a child like this? Nope. Nope. Nope. Something stinks.

Yeah...dont think this is gonna end well...

If I owned a hinky meter it would have exploded shortly after opening this thread.

-The ole' went to bed, woke up and the child was gone story

With the addition of:

-recently moved

-child is special needs

I wish this was going to end well, but most threads here with similar circumstances did not have happy endings.

Have we heard where they moved from?
Would a child with these needs need to see a doctor regularly? I'd be curious to hear the last time he was seen by the doctor...or anyone else, for that matter...
I want to believe someone thought they could take better care of him than he was receiving from his mom and decided to take him.

It seems to me that if a stranger were to abduct a toddler, they would not choose one with visible special needs. If they did, I'm expecting it wouldn't take them long to find he was more than they bargained for and got rid of him. Going into a home and snatching a child requires more preparation and thought than taking a kid you happen upon at the park for example. IMO.

My heart hurts for the family members that have no knowledge what happens to him (may be all of them), I can't imagine how stressed they must feel :(

Hoping with others for the non-custodial-parent scenario.

Does anyone know why an Amber Alert was not issued? I thought that every missing child that was thought to be abducted would have an Amber Alert. This doesn't sit well with me at all this baby needs to be found asap and wouldn't an amber alert be the quickest way to get his face and information out there for the public to help?

Does anyone know why an Amber Alert was not issued?

There is specific criteria that must be met prior to issuing an Amber Alert. Because this child seems to clearly (imo) meet all other criteria, my best GUESS is that an inability to confirm that an abduction has occured is what is holding up an Alert from being issued.

From California Highway Patrol's website regarding Amber Alerts:
AMBER Alert Plan

California AMBER Alerts are initiated solely by California law enforcement agencies. Law enforcement agencies must follow strict activation criteria before an alert is activated. The agency's administration must give approval before initiating an AMBER Alert. The primary consideration in the development of the activation criteria was the identification of those abducted children who are at the greatest risk of serious bodily injury or death.

In order for the California AMBER Alert Plan to be activated, law enforcement must be satisfied the following criteria have been met:

  • It has been confirmed that an abduction has occurred, or the child has been taken by anybody including, but not limited to, parents and/or guardians.
  • The victim is 17 years of age or younger, or of proven mental or physical disability.
  • There is reason to believe the victim is in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or death.
  • There is information available that, if disseminated to the general public, could assist in the safe recovery of the victim.
The AMBER Alert cannot be used for custodial disputes or runaway cases that don't meet the criteria. Law enforcement agencies are encouraged to issue an Endangered Missing Advisories for cases that don't meet the criteria.
