Any updates?
Yes. Monique "Pebbles" Santiago was ruled out as being this Jane Doe by a Forensic Odontologist at the New York State Police Department. I am in the process of trying to get Monique listed as a rule out on Jane Doe's exclusions list in NamUs.

Also, that was me that added you on FB yesterday. :)

I came across this girl, biracial (Hispanic/white) missing with her parents when she was 8 yrs, from Los Angeles, in 1982. She would have been 21 when this Jane Doe was found. There is only one picture of her, her facial appearance is hard to see and she was a small child at the time, so hard to compare with the recon. What is your opinion on this?

She's already on my spreadsheet but I did not know that she was Biracial. Good find! NamUs just lists her as White/Caucasian.

Are you related to Yani? She and I have been talking for a few days over Facebook Messenger. She thinks this girl may be her sister.

Welcome kms2089. I feel sorry for you and your family having to endure all of this. From experience I know California will not show post mortem pictures of deceased in public. That is to say if there are such pictures. We only know the reconstructions. I strongly advise you to contact the medical examiner in this case.

I have some good news about this case. While talking to the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner-Coroner's office last week, I found out that they found our Jane Doe's jaw bones in a storage closet.

Someone at the Coroner's office was organizing a storage closet and found the jaw bones. They also found the remains of more than 50 other unidentified decedents found from 1966-2001. All of these remains (including our Jane Doe's jaw bones) have been sent to the California DOJ for DNA extraction. The person I talked to said they prioritized shipping on our Jane Doe's jaw bones (probably because I've been emailing back and forth with them almost weekly since March) but said to keep in mind that the process can take more than two years because the California DOJ is severely understaffed.

To say that I'm excited about them finding Jane Doe's jaw bones is an understatement.

Over the past two months, I've posted this Jane Doe in more than 100 missing persons groups on Facebook. These groups are based in Mexico, United States, Ecuador, Colombia, Guatemala, and specified regions in these countries. I had someone translate the post to Spanish for me so I could post it to the groups based in Spanish-speaking countries.

When I say I posted it in more than 100 groups, I don't mean that I just posted it 100 times. After all those posts, I found the post that was most successful and shared it once more to all of the missing person's groups. A few weeks ago, a family member of a missing person kept seeing my posts and after doing some research, they strongly believe our Jane Doe might be their loved one. I've been helping the family as needed with contacting agencies, etc, But it is going to be a long process before we find out if their missing loved ones and this Jane Doe are one in the same because of the amount of time it will take to extract DNA from Jane Doe's jaw bones.

EDIT: I'll post updates about Jane Doe's jaw bones as appropriate but will not be posting about the missing person because of confidentiality.

Thank you for the update @WebSleuth91. Good work! Good to know they found jawbones. This will make it much more likely they can subtract DNA. I hope it's going to work. At least there is something left of her to work with. I hope sincerely they can. Makes you wonder about the accuracy of the reconstruction, but they made one, which is great! I wonder though how they came from A. (the story, her being murdered and burned, the stats etc. to B. (the found jawbones) What happened in between?

I hope the family, you are in contact with, will find out in the future if Jane Doe is their loved one. In the mean time we have to wait.....

@Nauticalguy I contacted Aransas PD several months ago and I left a message with the Chief asking if Elisa's dental records were available for comparison to this Jane Doe's but I never heard back from him. I have been busy helping another family who thinks this may be their missing loved one, so I have not reached out to Aransas PD again. I will reach out to Aransas PD again tomorrow. Did you know Elisa? The reason I ask is because I noticed that you also visited Elisa's Websleuths thread.
