There is little more information than the unidentified female child has died, at the moment. She was shot this evening (Wednesday). And that the suspect is a male.

The girl, thought to be between 7 and 9 years old, was found on the sidewalk. A man in a park nearby said he heard 3 shots and tires screeching.

Thanks Zweibel, not much information but the article said the girl was only 7, this is just terrible.

I wonder if they updated that, or I just didn't see it? The OC Register is reporting she was 9 now, and seems to have the most details so it may be correct.

She was shot on West Greenacre and the area's know for gang activity. I strongly suspect that the little girl was not the intended target.

Ximena was a little over a month away from her 10th birthday when she was shot. She died a half-hour after being taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, said Lt. Bob Dunn of the Anaheim Police Department.

The gang members arrested in connection with Ximena’s death – Ricardo Cruz and Alfredo Miguel Aquino – had been released from jail in mid-July, after pleading guilty to felony weapons possession, despite recommendations from probation officers that they serve more time.
