BREAKING: Police confirm body has been pulled from river at Mallard Point in Fish Creek Provincial Park. Medical Investigator en route.

All posts refer to a body. Not sure if that means an alive body or not.

A man was last reported in critical condition after being rescued from the shores of the Bow River Saturday night.

A boater reportedly found him on a sandbar downriver from the Peace Bridge.

Paramedics arrived on scene, applying CPR and rushing the victim to hospital.

It’s not known how the man ended up in the river but police don’t suspect foul play.

The Peace Bridge is downtown.

Both police and fire were called to the area near the east end of St. George’s Island around July 29 2:15 p.m., where they found the body of what appears to be a young man in his late teens or early 20s. Homicide detectives are also assisting.

So this is the second body one on the 29th and one on the 30th of Aug.

I know it's best that the found gun be unloaded, but in a way.. too bad the guy couldn't have just stood guard over it until LE had a chance to fetch it properly and safeguard any prints as much as possible. Whatever or whomever the gun is from, it would have been good to get the prints before anyone tampered with it.

Apparently it was loaded and the guy who found it, unloaded it,, that's even more whack.

I recall that one of our WS members who attended Court said that DG was 'diminutive', I think she said 5'7? And at the time, I was thinking the same thing.

Does anyone remember DG's height? I thought I read he was 5'4, I checked the wanted poster pic I posted but the text is too small and I can't tell if it says 160cm or 180cm. Nothing of relevance really, just curious if he's 5'4, as then he'd have quite the challenge to overtake AL.

That is pretty dang slight to be taking on and lugging out a 6' man and others.. but I suppose he seems in good condition.

When I saw him via CCTV in court I estimated him to be about 5'6" or 5'7" and about 65kg.

Maybe people are drowning because they think the river is a good place to go swimming.

The river is the city drinking water and it winds through the middle of the city, then South to other smaller cities. It is not a good place to dump bodies, as they will always be found. Some people commit suicide in the river, but there are many more accidental drowning. The river is shallow (3ft), but the current is strong and it is mountain run-off (very cold). People get into the water thinking it's fine, but if the current grabs them they're pulled into the middle of the river, tumbled around, and many drown.

It seems that any story/crime out of Calgary is related to the DG case.

So considering the location, the guy just found it after not cutting the grass for two months or like other lazy Calgarian's he doesn't have sod (it's an odd trend in cowtown to just leave a lawn as dirt). If a machine gun was used, a suppressor may have been added to reduce noise.

On a serious note, believe it or not, but Parkhill is not exactly a quiet community when MacLeod is in full rush. People in that area seem to get desensitized to backfiring cars and Harleys and the constant whirr of traffic that common noises that startle most of us are brushed off as a Macleod thing.

No other crimes in Calgary appear to be related to the triple murder in Parkhill.

A pillow case with a gun and a cell phone were found in the deep NE. NE Calgary is home to many new immigrants, and gang activity is more common in the NE than in any other part of the city. Parkhill is in the SW. The SW is more expensive and home to many established professionals. There is little to no gang activity in the SW. The population of the city is 1.2 million people. There is no reason to make a connection between a gun in the NE and a triple murder in the SW that happened two months ago. There is no "odd trend" in Calgary for people to "leave their lawn as dirt". Parkhill is near Macleod Trail, but in the middle of the night on a holiday weekend, there would be little traffic. There are noise bylaws prohibiting the use of vehicles that produce noise over 96 decibels, so loud backfiring cars and unreasonably loud motorcycles are prohibited.

If there were loud gun shots in Parkhill on a quiet holiday weekend, someone heard it and knew that it was not a normal sound.

I have been looking at the most wanted poster a few times today. That was quite the list of charges. I wonder who DG did his criminal deeds with back in the Richmond area. I wonder if he still had a property or hiding place he could access in BC. I believe it was 4 days before LE contacted him as POI. He could have made it out to the lower mainland and back easily. It was a long weekend so traffic would have been heavy but also a good time to blend in and keep the speed to a minimum. Hmmmm....

We drove from Ottawa to Montreal on the June, July and August long weekends. We always go on the Saturday night, and surprisingly there are no huge traffic snarls to deal with, on the highway or even in the city,... everyone is already at their destination.
Traffic could have been a non-issue if he was enroute to BC, the end of the month being a popular moving day,...he would not be conspicuous with something wrapped in a tarp and maybe a couple of mattresses?

Thanks for that info on the river in question. When I looked up 'fish creek body' yesterday, it came up with what seemed like a few bodies over time - accidental, murder, suicide (actually I dont' recall seeing a suicide, but I guess they don't announce those findings).

I have only recently heard about the "Mr. Big" controversy. The confessions were played on the show and I would speculate that if the men felt their safety would be in jeopardy by not confessing they would have offered a very straightforward confession. They seemed to be pretty relaxed and proud of the confession as it happened. My uneducated opinion is that they are guilty. Of course, the appeals were based on other interviews and testimony not being presented during the trial and only the confessions. That the jury relied on the confessions and that was all they needed but if other information and testimony was presented they would have had reasonable doubt. The one guy was not remorseful at all in his 2 hour statement before sentencing and his mannerisms were pretty odd. Dare I say... A younger version of a DG.

Yes, I caught the end of the show and did watch this case on another show (maybe Fifth Estate?) and saw the undercover video you speak of. Frankly, I feel the same way you do, from I saw and heard they seemed extremely cocky and acted like they were stars of a Hollywood movie and that this crime was a joke to them (of course, this is what I saw as an outsider looking in - not a trial/jury member).
