The money would have been with the Official Guardians Office until they reached the age of majority.

I think IF we are to believe that the adoptive parents spent their money, we'd need more proof than this statement.

There are limited reasons that parents can access monies being held for minors.

They were adopted by a very affluent family, no need to access the kids inheritance, IMO.

Sorry if already posted, but this answers the question I started the day with, namely - what happened to the proceeds from the sale of Empire Laboratories?

The boys were entitled to $330,000 each from the sale of their father’s company, Empire Laboratories, but their adoptive parents spent most of the money. Whatever little that was left of it was spent by the boys when they came of age.

An excerpt taken from:

Barry Sherman’s Children: Facts to Know about Barry Sherman's Family

Why am I looking back at the Empire sale and its proceeds? Well, Kerry's level of anger has seemed over the top and misplaced.

If this is in fact what went down with the proceeds, the level of anger - perhaps not so much the object of it - is easier to understand.

I think it’s impossible for WS members to determine the reason for KWs anger nor is it reasonable considering those closest to him noticed something was not right. He was represented by a Litigation Guardian (meaning he failed the mental health assessment) when the Appeal Court refused to uphold the appeal in August but at this time we don’t know anything further as his mental health issues are a confidential matter. Hopefully he’s receiving ongoing treatment and is able to overcome his difficulties.

Still digging...

This article from Marketwired goes into greater detail and the royalties condition is prominent.

Here's the link to the Wiki page:

The only reference to a 15 year royalty came from Marketwired. I think it is safe to assume that they had their facts wrong. We would have learned of a royalty not being paid. This is an example of not believing every detail provided by Wikipedia.

Thanks.

I think that clarifies things.

Canadian tycoon Barry Sherman 'killed wife then himself' | Daily Mail Online
There’s a 3:39 minute video on this link but I’m unable to embed it here.

Kerry does states the call was from his lawyer and it was in the early afternoon.

Only the identity of the two victims had been revealed through Twitter around that time.

One of the earliest media reports:
Apotex billionaire Barry Sherman and his wife Honey found dead | The Star

ETA: IIRC this was the tweet disclosing only the names (1:30 pm).
Twitter

Every time I am reminded about that tweet by Hoskins I think about what a 🤬🤬🤬 he was to do that. It really makes me angry- no consideration for the Sherman family at all. Some friend......

I wonder if some of us got $8 million dollars , would we have increased the value even more or would we have frittered it away as the orphans apparently did?

They certainly had a chance that few get to dream amd scheme. Rather, they might as well have flushed the money down the toilet. Their own initiatives apparently garnered nothing.

Just the other day I read where Honey is believed to have been attacked at the front door entry area. No idea where link is.

We have known that Honey had a pool of blood around her at the swimming pool where she was found.

Were dogs used to track in the house to find where the attacks took place, where the blood trail for Honey started?

It's from the Warmington article in The Toronto Sun: "There were two crimes scenes inside the house, said the officer, who suggested Honey had been struck by something near the front door and dragged to the pool area where she was suited up with a belt that was secured to a railing. It was also suggested police believed her husband then took his own life by hanging himself right beside her." Full article here.

Jack Kay deserves much better than this. He didn’t need to come back and help, but he felt it was his duty to the employees, to Barry, and to Apotex. I know that for a fact. I hope he now starts to enjoy his life.

I wonder if his dismissal was, if only in part, related to statements he made to news media (on at least one occasion) that the murders would likely never be solved. I could see how that would make Jonathon Sherman resentful of Kay, especially as it could be perceived as an indirect attack on the Greenspan team in which he's obviously deeply personally (and financially) invested.

I think more likely they had serious disagreements about business decisions. I could imagine Kay, who seems to have been a dear friend of BS, wanting to do things as Barry would have wanted, while Jonathon had other ideas. Just guessing, of course.

  • #651
Whatever the reason, why couldn't they write a press release thanking Jack for stepping in for a year during a difficult time, rather than announcing that they canned him and escorted him out of the building? Certainly not the way Kay should have been treated, no matter what the circumstances were.

Interesting - I don’t remember seeing that before about signs of attack on HS by the front door.

First thought that comes to mind is, well that clearly wasn’t her husband! The ridiculous idea of BS as perp only seems even possible IMO as a fit of rage that went out of control, followed by suicidal remorse. That is inconsistent with HS being attacked upon entry to the home IMO. Attack at entrance implies someone lying in wait in her absence & suprising her. Not someone caught up in a fit of passionate rage from fighting with her.

Also IIRC evidence suggested HS was taken hostage / murdered first, when she got home (from meeting with architect?) & then BS was attacked somewhat later when he got home (from the office?). AFAIK there’s been next to no confirmed evidence in this case, mostly tons of smoke generated & fanned about by random parties for unknown reasons ..... but if that’s true about order of arrival at the home, impossible for BS to have been the one attacking HS upon entry.

Next thought that comes to mind is ..... how absurd to even look at the evidence through this lens! I’m, say, about 95 % certain that BS had no involvement in this travesty JMO, but for some reason I’m still integrating info with an eye toward shrinking or growing that 5% of doubt. The thought that should arise is ‘who did this & why,’ not ‘ok then it even more totally couldn’t have been BS’!

This smokescreen of BS’s possible guilt is an amazing gift to the actual perp of this disgusting crime. Certainly the perp is pleased with the smokescreen & doing whatever s/he can to continue fanning it. And given what an asset the smokescreen is, the perp almost certainly did everything possible to create it - EG, staging the crime with obvious signs of m/s to get LE / people talking about whether BS could possibly have done it rather than who did it and why.

Nothing to suggest Honey was attacked as soon as she got home. Although it is possible that a fuming Barry attacked her when he got home. But with absolutely no evidence released, it's unlikely that we'll ever be able to piece this together.

My biggest argument is that TPS thought this was a murder/suicide from the get go. They saw the scene, we didn't. So either TPS was extremely inept or the killer was a master of deception.

For you to say that because their were two crime scenes, it eliminates Barry as a suspect, simply doesn't make sense. If the original crime scene was cleaned up, which I suspect it was (because the maid didn't seem to notice anything when they entered), would that change your opinion?

Iirc, HS drove a Lexus, which happens to be one of the favoured cars to steal.
Thinking the perp/s could have used similar methods to enter the car and house and a type of protective clothing worn. fwiw, imo.
For example..
Auto theft on the rise in Toronto area, and a security expert thinks he knows why | CBC News
Dec 4 2018
"Thieves boosting signal from key fobs inside your home to steal vehicles, automotive security specialist says
relay-theft.jpg

Oakville, Ont., resident Sebastian Bielawski caught his alleged car thief on-camera. He holds a device, which may have been used to amplify the signal coming from Bielawski's car fob, placed near the front door. (Halton Regional Police/Facebook)

"According to Markham automotive security specialist Jeff Bates, owner of Lockdown Security, wireless key fobs have a role to play in many recent car thefts, with thieves intercepting and rerouting their signals — even from inside homes — to open and steal cars."

"Bates said the spike is so great, a local Toronto car dealership selling new Lexus vehicles asked his company to install tracking systems on all high-end SUVs because so many of their vehicles are being stolen."
"Key fobs are constantly broadcasting a signal that communicates with a specific vehicle, he said, and when it comes into a close enough range, the vehicle will open and start."

The thief will bring a device close to the home's door, close to where most keys are sitting, to boost the fob's signal.

They leave another device near the vehicle, which receives the signal and opens the car."

This makes a lot of sense

Bloomberg’s top Canada reads of 2018 - BNN Bloomberg
"The Unsolved Murder of an Unusual Billionaire
Almost a year after the shocking murders of billionaire couple Barry and Honey Sherman, Bloomberg BusinessWeek did a deep dive to find out who might have killed the Apotex Inc. founder and his wife. We may never get an answer."

One year later: Where the Sherman murder investigation stands
"Here is Yahoo Canada’s summary of the past year’s investigation into the unsolved murders of Honey and Barry Sherman in December 2017."
"December
The anniversary of the Shermans’ deaths passed on Dec. 15 without news of any breakthroughs in the Toronto police investigation.

As of Dec. 24, Honey and Barry Sherman are still listed along with 32 other people in Toronto whose murders in 2017 remain unsolved.

Excellent observations, I totally agree with what you’ve written.

I am confused. I thought Warmington was a writer that you believed in. So the part where Honey was attacked written by Warmington is a lie?

andreww you have posted yourself, I believe many times, that H was attacked at a different location, and killed much earlier than B.. you have proposed (with speculation seemingly out of nowhere) that it happened in the bedroom, and that B had gravity on his side while lugging/dragging her down the basement. So now we see it in MSM that indeed there may have been two crimescene locations in the home, but yet where it is proposed to have been located, you are disagreeing with because it doesn't then exactly match with your theory. This would also answer your question you've been asking re why they would be wearing their winter coats inside the home. And yes, it had to have been cleaned up or the 6 people who entered the home after the fact would have noticed right away and presumably called police... not to mention looking all over the home to see what was up.

I wonder what evidence led to the early lead of m/s. We know there was “staging.” Maybe staging included overt m/s elements like EG speculation IMO forced suicide note by BS claiming responsibility. That would create immediate lead on m/s that LE would have to pursue until it fell apart, which could have taken 5 min or 5 days etc. Following up on overt evidence isn’t inept - failing to follow it would be inept. Talking to the media about conclusions implied by overt evidence seems either inept or tactical.

Number of crime scenes is irrelevant, issue is initial crime scene that implies cold-blooded attack inconsistent with BS guilt IMO. Married men don’t lay in wait to entrap & murder their wives in the home they share. Anyway BS didn’t here, he was at the office at time of attack onset, so there we have it.

Evidence that initial crime scene was cleaned up makes crime even more cold-blooded and thus BS as perp even more absurd. How would that work? Old guy stalks and murders his wife in their own home, opting for a setting that could only point to himself as perp..... then cleans up the crime scene.... for what reason? ..... before killing himself..... why? But of course BS did none of that - he was at the office.

Thought-provoking post; wish I had written it.

I'm still working the Egg-Scraper after posting dead-end angles yesterday.

Posters here who have followed the case for a long time deserve better than clutter.

I acted in haste, posted perfect waste. There's no need to rush-to-post here. Lesson learned.
