here's a purely hypothetical question (i'm interested. not really related to this case).....
in the case of michael jackson (a real example but i'm only asking about the concept), his mother was a major beneficiary of his estate. but she was very old..... does his mother have to live until estate is settled for any assets distributed at that time to be part of her estate? i.e. do you have to live until estate is settled for your heirs to inherit what you were going to inherit?....... i think the answer is no. you are ok, although i don't know if there is minimum time period you must live beyond the first deceased (like one month or something fairly benign)......... note: i do know in MJ's case his estate will be paying out for many years and i'd assume his mother's heirs won't see that money.
