here's a purely hypothetical question (i'm interested. not really related to this case).....

in the case of michael jackson (a real example but i'm only asking about the concept), his mother was a major beneficiary of his estate. but she was very old..... does his mother have to live until estate is settled for any assets distributed at that time to be part of her estate? i.e. do you have to live until estate is settled for your heirs to inherit what you were going to inherit?....... i think the answer is no. you are ok, although i don't know if there is minimum time period you must live beyond the first deceased (like one month or something fairly benign)......... note: i do know in MJ's case his estate will be paying out for many years and i'd assume his mother's heirs won't see that money.

ok, i'm told MJ's mother's heirs would benefit from payments from MJ estate 40 years in the future (for instance)......... and she didn't have to live much longer than MJ at all. not sure how long that is though

i haven't read all the underlying newspaper articles but my sense is people are overestimating the possibility HS used a brand new legal relationship to do this will. i read the suggesting that she was near forest hill and had just been at her lawyer as not being in downtown T.O.. but in the middle of the day, downtown to forest hill is nothing at all. and she might have met the downtown lawyer uptown

i see the comment that HS had missed a meeting due to "family stuff". i had thought that was the wording too. but it wasn't. her wording was way more generic, like "dealing with stuff"

FYI, i see warmington (name?), man about town for toronto sun, talked to neighbour who mentions 1) H and B got along great, 2) the sherman house had been robbed recently through the skylight, 3) the whole sherman/apotex/haiti/"you know who" relationship. and the bizarre suicide within days of a physican in new york who had been involved in that haiti situation

donovan has said that the clinton/haiti/sherman murder stuff is ludicrious, which is my opinion too. but that new york suicide is bizarre and very timely in relation to shermans.

Endless court battles, angry relatives and shady players: the truth about Barry Sherman

Yes, Thank you, according to this article, Honey just said she was dealing with some stuff. I think I did read somewhere else she was quoted as saying she was dealing with some family stuff, but I cannot find it now.

Sphinx, i said the exact same thing here a few months ago, namely that she said "dealing with family stuff"... but as you indicate, it was "stuff" not "family stuff"...... i hope it wasn't seeing my comment that gave you that impression. probably not as there's alot of paraphrasing out there.

Just to address the chatter about the realtor FaceTime call:

The couple that was touring B & H’s house when their bodies were discovered were Chinese. I don’t have the exact source right now, but I remember specifically reading that in a Star article from a few months ago. It said they were super horrified (obviously) and eventually bought another house in Toronto.

So it doesn’t seem bizarre or weird at all that the realtor was showing homes via FaceTime, since there was obviously a strong international market for that type of home. It’s possible that call was even the same couple that toured the house in person a few days later after confirming via FaceTime that they were interested. I don’t think that leads anywhere.

To me it’s really starting to feel like the act itself was done by someone in their inner circle- family member or close business associate- and not some shadowy stranger.

From your link -

“Toronto police say that they will release a joint statement Monday morning on the ongoing investigation into the murders of Barry and Honey Sherman.

The statement will be released at a news conference at the Toronto Police Service’s headquarters around 10:30 a.m....

....Insp. Hank Idsgina will be on hand for today's news conference, but the family will not be in attendance, police said.”

However, it sounds like this is not new information. It sounds like this info was from back when they were in court last:

From the TS article:

The new data, obtained in the spring, was analyzed this summer by civilian analysts with the police force’s Intelligence Services. The report from the analysts was given to the homicide unit in September, and more production orders were to be served on other entities as a result, Yim told court.

Asked by the Star if a crown attorney had been consulted — which sometimes occurs if police are considering charges or have a particularly difficult search warrant request to formulate — Yim replied that one had been consulted by homicide detectives on the case. Yim would not say why.

Wow there's been so much information in the last few weeks made public, compared to the total silence/lock down of information previously. So many interesting tidbits, intrigue, potential red herrings...and now, a press conference update?! Those familiar with Toronto Police - would they have a presser just for an update, or is it possible there will be an arrest announcement?!?!

Also from your link (Did we miss a TS article?):
"The Toronto Star is reporting that a Crown Attorney has been consulted in the case but police won't say why.."

Crown attorneys (ie a Prosectors) are assigned to cases at the onset and liaisons with police during a homicide investigation. As evidence is gathered, the Crown Attorney determines when it appears to adequately support murder charges and then presents it to a Judge.

It always amazes me, the way the media sometimes reports comments to make it appear as if it’s important news when it’s really just standard procedure.

I really doubt it’s an arrest announcement. But I think a police/family joint statement is indeed warranted and may quell some public rumours as well.

Well that's disappointing, but thank you for helping me manage my expectations!

Yeah, I'm willing to bet we won't learn anything new, it will just be "we want to re-assure the public this is an ongoing investigation... we want to honour their memories, etc". I hope I'm wrong though!

Hahaha, "If you've submitted a tip to the Shermans, please resubmit to TPS". Really working well together.
