It seems to be an inordinate number of doctor visits, did BS think he was ill, was he in poor health, did something new pop up for HS?
Did somebody (the killer) think they were about to die or become infirm and would blow all the money on the new mansion, grandkids and BS' expensive hobby investments, not to mention a billion dollar debt?
Neither dying by strangulation or from a gunshot is an ''easy'' way to go, but assuming death by gun is less painful and quicker - but messier, is that why H&B were not shot, or the killer did not want to ''desecrate'' the bodies. Unless they wanted the Shermans to suffer?
Speculation, imo. rbbm.

I'd thought the same thing as well regarding the number of doctors HS had seen. They could easily afford private healthcare to see doctors outside of Canada. Not to mention within their circle of people and line of work, the Sherman family must have had connections within the medical community.

There are other ways of doing things, including ways to make people suffer. The Sherman family was/is a pharmaceutical company. Surely someone could have gotten their hands on something deadly (medication) if they'd wanted to? Has anyone else wondered this or just me?

What was the "rare condition" and "life altering drug" that BS talked about? Can someone point me to a link? Another question, did Apotex ever have security issues, break-ins or problems with theft? This has probably been asked a thousand times by now, sorry!

Ok, that makes sense. I guess they never expected her to die first? I'm the executor on an estate right now that did not have a will, and it automatically created numerous hassles. I'm just surprised with all BS legal acumen that he did not make sure she had her own will.

Perhaps the Will specified that surviving spouse has control of the estate and, after death of both spouses, assets are divided equally amongst children? That would mean that he, the breadwinner, has decided how assets are handled after his death.

What should her Will stipulate - that she inherits her husbands assets and then they pass on to the children? Long marriages usually have one Will that starts with surviving spouse having use of all assets until death.

Did I read somewhere that her sister expected to inherit or be gifted a large sum around the time of the deaths? Perhaps they had an unusual Will the left assets to siblings before children?

"No will has ever been found for Honey, although the Star interviewed a Honey confidant who says Honey told her three weeks before her death that she had “updated” her will at a law firm."
"Updated" means, there actually must have been 2 LW: 1 original, 1 updated. Does it makes sense, if HS said this to her sister, who waited for a big sum of money anyway, namely during HS' lifetime? Does it make sense, if it wasn't the truth?

These points stand out for me ... Barry owing a billion dollars seems like one reason to suicide. Their health issues (101 doctors for her, 20 for him??). I'm curious about his autobiography that mentions Justin Trudeau. Does it also mention Pierre Trudeau?

We knew that Honey was going to their Florida house first, he was joining later. Separate airline tickets? Did the airplane ticket copy include both flights, or only his?

"Last week, we reported that Barry Sherman told a family member before he died that he owed $1 billion and was not going to pay it back."
...

Among the stacks of generic drug documents and lawsuits, police also found an “autobiography” Barry was writing and a photograph of Honey, Barry and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau. In one pile, detectives spotted a copy of an airplane ticket Barry had purchased for a Dec. 24 flight to Fort Lauderdale to join Honey for a holiday break. "
Detectives have probed Barry and Honey Sherman’s estate plans for murder clues — why, they won’t say

What if they had a joint Will that Honey updated recently, but which is in fact a joint Will so it requires both signatures for updates? Do we know?

As for Honey's sister, either Honey was over spending to upset and get attention from her husband, or, she genuinely wanted to enrich her sister, thus cutting inheritance from their now billion dollar indebted children.

The Toronto Star article that indicates that Barry owed cumulatively $1 billion is paywalled. Did Barry himself owe $1 billion or did Apotex owe $1 billion? There's a big difference. If Apotex owed that amount, that is most of its annual revenue for one year. IIRC that Barry was worth over $3 billion.

The debt belonged to Apotex not Barry personally. This was an occurrence that happens frequently in that industry- lose a lawsuit, win a lawsuit, settle. $1 billion wasnt going to sink Apotex by any stretch.
It has been estimated that BS was worth (including Apo) somewhere between 5-$10 billion.

Is this true? I've never heard of a joint will. Maybe it was more common a long time ago? In any case, the way they word it is that they found BS will but not HS will. That seems to me like his will was not for both of them.

It does seem odd to me that HS sister would not receive anything. I'm really wondering if HS had a will somewhere that hasn't been found. I had to track down a will for a friend who passed away in January - nobody even knew if he had a will. We ended up finding one at a lawyer's office after a lot of digging and phone calls. It's absurd to me that there is no centralized system for tracking wills held by lawyers.

Would HS have a will only and specifically for the business/real estate she and her sister owned? However, I assume the mortgages on these properties came from Sherfam companies? not sure if that complicates matters.

Or could HS have updated BS will with a codicil? Codicil (will) - Wikipedia

Or HS was proven to die first and/or within X amount of hours before BS therefore her will was null and void and no need to publicize the validity of existence or contents of such will?

Comment & Questions:
The amount of Doctor visits may not be as unusual as it seems, as it covers a period of about seven years. Factors that could come into play.
*Many elderly patients have caregivers who retire/leave or move, leading to the patient having to find new doctors.
*Sometimes there are group practices where you will see different doctors on your regular or follow-up visits.
*Some patients want a second opinion from a different doctor on most issues.
*Some types of illnesses and treatments require a whole team of doctors to be involved. For example a GP, Oncologist, Orthopedic-Surgeon, Radiologist and Immunologist could all see the same patient.

On another topic. I cannot remember, but was there ever a mention of Adam Paulin being on vacation to Japan. I know Fred Mercure and JS were there just before the deaths. However I thought it was mentioned that AP was there sometime earlier, but I cannot find the mention.

I assume that KD and the TPS monitor this Websleuths site. Does anybody know for sure?

Some people have speculated that the NW could be from the Middle East or an Eastern European Country. Any reason he could not be from Japan?

RE Doc visits
101 visits over an approx 5+ yr span, with +/- 39 types of Doctor's (The Complete List Of Doctor Specialties and Medical Subspecialties | Dr. Bill) I do not think is outrageous. If we considered the math of 5 yrs = 1825 days divide by 101 visits / or 101 divided by 5 and you have 18 or 20 appointments in a year. Not really that many as she had recently gone through treatments for throat cancer. That alone would be multiple appointments, blood tests would probably count as a dr visit. Now for Barry 20 visits over 5 yrs, 4 visits a year is not many, especially if you are on medication, you see the doc to get renewals.

"Upon their deaths, Barry Sherman held $67 million in personal property and $1.8 million in real estate. Honey Sherman had $45.9 million in personal property and $9.5 million in real estate, the documents say. This figure covered by the estate files, though, represents a fraction of their true wealth; Forbes estimates Barry Sherman was worth around $3 billion at the time of his death"

You would think if HS had this much in personal property and real estate then she would have her own will. Would the real estate and personal property be in her name only? Or jointly held together? This is kind of bothering me because any lawyer would make certain she had a will if these things were her name only because I don't think a husband having a will would cover his wife's assets if she passes at the same time. Someone correct me if I am wrong please. Possible everything with the exception of Apotex is under the Sherfam "umbrella"?

“ In the 1990s, following an extension of patents that made generic drugs less profitable to produce, the company began exploring making branded drugs of its own. One of them was deferiprone, a potential treatment for the blood disorderthalassemia.[24] Trials were overseen by U of T hematologist Dr. Nancy Olivieri at The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto. By 1998, Olivieri had serious concerns as to whether the drug was effective or safe, and broke a confidentiality agreement with Apotex to publish her findings. Apotex responded by attempting to damage her reputation and filing a lawsuit; U of T took the company's side rather than risk the loss of a $20 million donation for a planned research center and removed Olivireri from her position as head of a research program on hemoglobin disorders. Eventually Olivieri regained her position after years of her own litigation; the incident helped inspire John le Carré's novel The Constant Gardener.[17]
Barry Sherman - Wikipedia

Why the killer didn’t use easily accessible drugs is unknown. The Shermans had therapeutic levels of drugs prescribed to them in their systems.

There was an alleged theft of intellectual property by an employee. Apotex alleged that the employee was going to use the information to start his own generic pharmaceutical company. The reported theft unveiled some of the security measures in place at Apotex.

GUEST VOICE: Why I'll be at the JDL protest outside Barry Sherman's house
''In the private sector, we are blessed with Canadian philanthropists such as Barry Sherman
By throwing support behind Trudeau and inviting others to follow him, Sherman is, in effect, seeking to unseat Harper and promote a deal that another Jewish leader, Netanyahu, contends puts Israel’s very existence at risk.''
''Netanyahu and Sherman are pulling their Jewish supporters in opposite directions. Which leader should Canadian Jews follow?
At this time, Netanyahu is sparing no effort to peacefully persuade the world to help prevent the Islamic Republic of Iran from developing a nuclear arsenal, which he believes poses not just a military threat, but an existential threat to the State of Israel , Jewish, and other, inhabitants.'',
''An invited guest wrote to the Shermans, rejecting their invitation and urging them to reconsider.''

Regarding HS will, this article has a lot of information. It was definitely not a joint will, because they had to apply for an appointment of estate trustee for Honey.

I really think she had a will that is still out there somewhere.

Honey Sherman ‘updated’ her will shortly before billionaire couple slain, confidant reveals - WWWHive Digital

“Honey and I were talking and she said meet me at Yonge and St. Clair Avenue. She said she was just coming from her lawyer’s office and she had just updated her will. She had done some amendments,” the confidant told the Star. “Honey said she wanted me to first go with her to Loblaws to get those frozen croissants from Ace Bakery that she liked, then we would go to her home.”

"Over the time the service provider worked for Honey, Honey often stressed the importance of having a will and “making sure everything is protected,” said the service provider."

“We don’t know who the beneficiaries are, if there is a will,” Sherman estate lawyer Timothy Youdan told the court hearing. “We don’t know if there is no will.” To proceed with the administration of the couple’s estate after the deaths, Youdan filed a document asking for the “appointment of estate trustee without a will in the estate of Honey Sherman.”

Agreed one would think if you have that much $$ invested why not have a will? I am really not sure what is considered personal property,
