Former Calgary woman, U of C elite wrestler goes missing in Hamilton
“We’ve had a lot of leads and none of them have really panned out,” said Dave. “Nothing has turned out to be real right now … We’re lost. We’d appreciate any help we can get.”

Holly Ellsworth-Clark, a singer living in Hamilton, was born and raised in Calgary and was an elite wrestler at the University of Calgary.
''Holly, who stands six-feet-tall and weighs 200 pounds, was a gifted athlete at the University of Calgary. She won three gold medals and one silver medal at the national level in wrestling over a five-year post-secondary career as a member of the Dinos.

On multiple occasions, she was a finalist for the university’s athlete-of-the-year award. Holly graduated from U of C in 2016.

About a year before she wrapped up her degree, Dave said he taught his daughter to play three chords on the guitar.

She took to music immediately, and before long was writing her own songs and playing in public. After collaborating with other musicians in Calgary, she decided to move to Toronto in 2018 to pursue a musical career.''

“It turned out she had a really amazing talent for this,” said Dave, adding his daughter has written upwards of 60 songs ever since, having also recorded many of them. “It’s just stunning. I’ve never been close to anybody who’s that prolific and gifted in this area.”

I'm never one to jump on the human trafficking bandwagon when it shows up in these threads. Although it's happening all over the world, Holly would be atypical in choice for those that are in the trafficking business.

A "typical" trafficked person is extremely vulnerable, (run away, bad home life, drug addict, alcoholic, etc.) and young. Normally a teenager that is easily groomed and brought on board. They need someone to care for them, buy them food, give them a place to stay, and they allow the trafficker to be that person until it all goes bad and they realize that they've been "taken". Certainly not their fault, but the trafficker knows who they are looking for and hones in on the vulnerability.

Holly really doesn't fit that mould. She has a job, she has family, she's not a teenager, she's not living on the streets (or wasn't anyway), she's an athlete and can take care of herself (however, right now I'm not sure she is able).

I could be wrong. Stranger things have happened. Hamilton can be quite rough as I've said before. There are very nice parts of the City and then there are really unpleasant places. Drugs are highly in evidence. Homelessness is rampant. Shelters are dotted all over the Hamilton downtown. Human trafficking is a current problem in the City, as in many other Cities.

I have to wonder if she left Hamilton all together. Maybe she went to Toronto. Lots of shelters there. I haven't seen a word about Holly on the Toronto news but it's all over the Hamilton station. I think they need to get some traction with MSM in the Toronto market. No one is looking for Holly there because they don't know about her.

She must be so scared. I hope she has found shelter somewhere.

Calgary family on desperate search for missing daughter in Hamilton
“There were oddities other people believed were linked to mental illness and we went with that… She said some things that sounded preposterous,” Clark said.

“But everything about her disappearance is consistent with her being absolutely terrified and just running.”

It's not close really... about 18kms/11 miles. It's likely not her, but the police officer that was interviewed live mentioned it was possibly related to a missing person but would not provide any further details out of respect for the family (wouldn't even say if was male or female).

Holly's is the only case getting local coverage at the moment so that's why my mind went there.

Thanks dotr! Holly's father mentioned in the TV interview they had searched as far as Royal Botanical Gardens which is basically half way between the two locations.

I do agree that the extremely vulnerable population that you mentioned it most likely to be at risk for sex trafficking. However, ANYONE can be forced or coerced into it. It is harmful to think that this only happens to ‘those’ people... then we do not educate every person who could be a target.
I am a living example of this. I grew up in a well off, suburban family. Never had any problems growing up. Was attending university and had a job. I was groomed by someone and coerced into sex trafficking. I am thankful, every time that I see a story like this, that I was able to get out of that situation (relatively) unharmed. I was not drawn into it because of a NEED such as homelessness or drug addiction. I was looking for love in the wrong places - which a lot of people do at some point in their life.

My point is - do not rule it out. Sex trafficking is A LOT more common than you think it is. It happens to people you would never expect, people you likely know personally.

I just pray that she is found safe. And (hopefully) she hasn’t been trafficked.
