Wondering if JS has ever been seen hanging around art stores/ museums, maybe even far from home?
"Slauenwhite graduated from an art school in Alberta. He was ambitious, a prankster, and loved life until a mental illness took over.

She says he knew he was in trouble, so came home to get help.

“One day we went into see him at the hospital and they said ‘he's got schizoaffective disorder, this is what we'll be doing’ and that's what we did,” Cook said."

"She surrounds herself with Josh's art, which includes bright, sunny and detailed pieces, and lots of pictures of the entire family -- four boys and two girls.

Josh is the oldest child and he stands out. At six-foot-four and 280 pounds, he towers above the rest in the family photo.

Cook doesn't know how someone like this disappears."

Mother demands answers from medical examiner’s office after finding son’s bones, missed phone in belongings | The Journal Pioneer

In the summer of 2017, Joshua Slauenwhite disappeared from his mother’s home in Farmington, Lunenburg County.

He walked away with only a laptop bag containing a few of his important possessions, including a sketchpad and pencils. Joshua’s remains and what was left of his belongings were discovered in December in a wooded area about 20 kilometres from his mother’s home.

RCMP investigators believed suicide to be the cause of death.

Right up until he was found, Josh’s mom kept faith her oldest boy could still be alive. She then set her sights on getting Joshua’s possessions from the medical examiner’s office.

She got her son’s possessions in two garbage bags, like they were picked up in a ditch, she said. Joshua’s toe bones were in one of his black skateboard shoes. His iPhone had been missed by the coroner’s office as well as RCMP investigators who gathered his belongings at the scene.

“Nobody bothered to look,” said Cook through tears.

Joshua’s belongings also mattered to his siblings. Five of them sorted through his things with their mother in her living room on Dec. 30.

His 22-year-old brother Ryan pulled Joshua’s soaking wet shoes out of a clear garbage bag. Mounds of moss and mud were still inside the shoes. The toe on one was sticking straight up. Ryan straightened the shoe and discovered three toe bones.

Joshua’s teenage brothers Joey, 16, and Marcus, 18, witnessed this.

“They were absolutely traumatized,” said Cook who broke down at the sight of her son’s bones.
