Redundant.

Any lip readers out there that can figure out what he is saying as he leaves the store?

I can try if anyone can find it on a loop somewhere.

Kinda looks to me like he says "yep".

I assume the employee in the background said something to the effect of "have a nice day".

That's exactly what it looks like.

I don't take their word for it. I take word of the LE. They say they were last seen in it. They have not released a photo of it otherwise it would be all over more legitimate sources.

ETA: It would also be here somewhere

RCMP Manitoba weren’t involved when the pair were confirmed to be suspects in Meadow Lake, Sask by the RCMP in BC. Manitoba’s participation officially began when the RAV4 was found burning in that province.

Because the murders occurred in BC, arrest warrant issued from BC, regardless of where these two are arrested in Canada they'd be returned to BC.

Yes, it looks to me like they both kind of turn in response to the store employee, and I would imagine they would have said something like that to them on the way out.

At the 11 sec mark...looks like a few words

That would make sense. I hadn't actually spotted it on rcmp's page before but I very clearly missed it.

Even with all the heat the RCMP are taking for their communication on this case, the RCMP were quite clear about the RAV4 and the fact that is was found burned along with a clear location where the vehicle was found IMO. Others have posted the RCMP bulletins and quotes from the press conferences where this vehicle has been mentioned so this is all verifiable. I'm trying to understand your confusion as in my mind even though we still don't know who owns this vehicle (even though people have their suspicions), I don't think anyone doubts that this vehicle is an impt part of the road trip of these 2 suspects.

I thought it looked like he said "thanks".

There was no confusion as to them being in that kind of vehicle. It was as to where the photo itself came from, but that has been cleared up :)

For those interested in learning more about online gaming communities and the opportunity they offer for extensive communication between members, there is a tragic case that just happened in Toronto/Markham where 4 people were found murdered: CANADA - Menhaz Zaman, 23, Markham, Toronto, Suspect in Quadruple Homicide - Markham Family Murders

Not much on the thread yet as it just started but MSM reporting about the online gaming world is facinating. I wonder how deeply involved the 2 suspects in this cases were in that world and I wonder if RCMP has been actively monitoring communication on the various platforms?

I am posting this information ONLY to provide a source for folks that might not know too much about online gaming communities to learn more about it. I am in NO WAY making a comment that these communities or gaming in general had ANYTHING to do with why the 2 suspects have done what they seem to have done.

I am always curious to learn as much about suspects as possible and not knowing much about the online gaming communities, I was facinated to fall down the rabbit hole last night reading about the Toronto case murder suspect and how he spent his time actively involved in these communities to effectively set up a fantasty world for himself as he withdrew from the day to day life that most of us enjoy with no question!

Edit to add link to article about trends in online gaming communities and psychological issues:

Cybersecurity expert Daniel Tobok said he wasn’t surprised when he heard that quadruple homicide suspect Menhaz Zaman allegedly shared the details of the killings in on an online gaming chat group, called Perfect World, before and after the murders.

“There’s been an emerging trend in the past five to seven years,” said Tobok.

“What we’re seeing today is, with a lot of the social media platforms, a gateway — [to] have a new way to communicate your message, have a lot of viewers either commenting or being a part of that.”

Tobok adds that the world of gaming has ‘exploded’ over the past few years, and even though most of the online chatter is about gameplay, people have started using it as a platform to discuss more heinous activities. [BBM]

MOO

Disaffected young men, retreating from society into the cyber world? I fear we're going to hear more of this kind of thing, although I really hope not. No analysis from me, just hoping that this can be prevented.

We’re told this is the spot where Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky got stuck in @CityofColdLake on Sunday July 21. It’s next to a seniors home, a soccer field, and a backyard swimming pool that’s currently entertaining 4 kids.

I really like this photo as it's a good example of the teens following the "transmission line." This is not a road but service easement that's probably easier to navigate during the winter months.

This would be their mindset on Sunday, July 21-- just before they would arrive the Co-op in Meadow Lake where they were last seen on surveillance per RCMP.

MOO

But there's no need to follow a transmission line in Cold Lake. There is what looks like a nice campground on the lake.

There is a road out of town ( 28th St) that appears to go through a substantial unpopulated area before it intersects with the main road (Route 897). And it goes up to a more isolated lake area at Primrose Lake.

And it would be obvious even at night that you were in the "city", as the lights of the Cold Lake Medical Center and the school are right there. I guess if you didn't get a good look at the roadbed conditions and thought you could hide out in the thicket of trees up ahead, this might seem like a clever way to escape detection. But it's quite stupid.

Agree. I've been reading quite a bit about this topic on the other case and its disturbing. Trend seems to be to retreat from 'real life' and disengage from human interaction and 'live' online.

Here is quote from psychologist in article Sharing details of mass killings on social media, online gaming sites ‘an emerging trend’: experts:

"Psychologist Oren Amitay said social media or gaming can provide mass killers with an audience they may not find in their everyday lives".

“If you know one friend who validates you or shares your experience, that’s nothing compared to supposedly having thousands of friends or followers giving you that validation,” said Amitay".

That's the end of the video...and you can't even see his hands at that point. Sorry but I am very confused as to what you are seeing...

it's about the 10 sec. mark - it's something black visible for like 1/2 a second

Oops, thanks for letting me know my error. My apologies as I misread the timing. I have corrected it to the 10 second and 39 second mark

I think these two teens have been severely underestimated. Based on news reports, their vehicle was stopped by a First Nations safety officer in Manitoba Split Lake (July 22nd). Upon search, the safety officer stated in an interview that there were a “couple of boxes in the back”, as well as survival gear and maps. The teens were heading towards Gillam, as also stated in the interview. Gillam is an obvious rural town with minimal roadways. The road they were driving on comes to a dead end. Considering they had maps, they must have known this. Yet, out of all places to go & hide they chose Gillam? Additionally, they decided to burn their only means of transportation without any effort of concealment, and just run into the forest? I don’t think so. They boys are obviously not that intelligent seeing as they committed 3 “random” acts of murders, yet they have managed to evade RCMP, police, military, and citizens along with all the drones, aircraft, and technology that comes with it. They must receive some credit for carrying on this manhunt for almost 2 weeks now. My point is, they had maps and survival gear, thus I can only assume that their locations of travel & actions (burning their vehicle) are premeditated and planned out. Although it is possible they could be dead somewhere in the vast Canadian wilderness, part of me would rather see them alive so that we can get answers & motive in this interesting case. However, my condolences are with the families of the murder victims, justice must be served.
