here is a google search for 2011 RAV4 key, I'm thinking the little plastic loop that goes on the ring would melt, and would prevent it from staying on the key ring (hope that makes sense lol).

We've had a few fobs that the loop has broken over the years, it's stupid lol

I think so too. The reporter’s tweet describes the keys as having been torched.

Ontario Provincial Police in northeastern Ontario confirm they have received calls of possible sightings of two men wanted in connection with three homicides in British Columbia, but police add none of those sightings have been confirmed.

Authorities are continuing to search for fugitives Kam McLeod and Bryer Schmegelsky. The two were last seen in northern Manitoba near Gillam more than a week ago.

OPP Constable Michelle Coulombe says police in northeastern Ontario have received reports of two possible sightings: one near Iron Bridge and another near Kapuskasing.

On Wednesday, police got a report about a suspicious white vehicle driven through a construction zone on Highway 11 in Kapuskasing around 10:30 a.m.

With old vehicles, keys could be duplicated at the hardware store. You can still do this with some vehicles made in the last decade, to have a duplicate door key for when you warm the vehicle up in the winter. People keep the chip key on another key ring when doing this.

She says two young men in a white Ford Focus pulled up next to a construction worker near the Comfort Inn and brandished a gun. She says they gave the worker the finger and drove off.

She says she reported the incident to OPP because he was so shaken and upset. She says he was crying and was certain the men in the car matched the descriptions of the BC fugitives.

I don't think violent games or music has anything to do with it other than visual and aural stimuli. The individual most likely has a predisposition to violence developed early on in the structure of the brain. The coping mechanism seems to be deficit in acting or not acting upon committing murder. I think the video games are a precursor to making the fantasy come true, but not the end reason, as they can desensitize a person (most people would probably be freaked out at the thought of even seeing a dead body), but it seems they are so desensitized - to the point where they look forward to it. I'm not expert... I'm just guessing.

From the two recent studies I posted, the jury is still out. Some studies indicate that when given two male friends, if one plays violent games, the other will present more aggression a year later regardless of whether that person plays violent games. Other studies indicate that there is no correlation between violent gaming and aggression.

It looks like adolescence are more at risk because the brain is not fully developed, and violent gaming taps into the pleasure centre of the brain.

Either way, it looks like Kam and Bryer decided to role play some of what they learned through gaming (per Bryer's father statement: 2 years playing survival games in the woods), and now they are testing their skills against the Canadian wilderness while pursued by authorities.

On Wednesday, Ontario Provincial Police issued a news release saying they had received a report about a suspicious vehicle driving through a construction zone on Highway 11 in Kapuskasing, 234 kilometres north of Sudbury. The vehicle was spotted at 10:31 a.m. ET

"At this time the OPP cannot confirm the identity of the people in the vehicle that was occupied by two males. The OPP is continuing to investigate this incident and is actively looking for the vehicle," spokesperson Sgt. Shona Camirand said in a statement.

Police ask anyone who notices anything suspicious to report it to police immediately, rather than share it on social media.

I do agree with many of the points you’ve made. There’s no doubt that issues were present in their lives, however the depth of those issues simply can’t be assessed based on such little information. I guess the issue I have is many of the comments have been made by people after they were approached by the media. We don’t know if they’ve been twisted, presented differently than they were said or quoted out of context. For example the video of Bryers father breaking down and saying his son was hurting and wanted his pain to end - that seems to have been translated by media into “wants to go [sic] blaze of glory”.
The only time that there will possibly be verification of anything, including statements said to reporters, is if it goes to trial, which I doubt the public will be privy to anything. Haven’t they already applied in advance for a publication ban??

Maybe. But the media has specifically used quotes attributed by his father as fearing he plans to go out in "a blaze of glory."

That may not have aired in an actual video but I';m going with that it's accurate, for now.

Yeah, I am not saying there's a relationship between violent games and anti-social behavior. I don't have the evidence. But it's really not the topic I was discussing. And again, I don't think video games make kids into killers. I just don't.

Research is inconclusive at this time. It cannot be said that violent gaming does not alter behaviour, and it cannot be said that it does.

Does it also come with a flat, all metal key? My vehicle has an all metal sub key that can be used to unlock everthing except the glove compartment. It's used if you need to give a key to the parking attendent. Could we be looking at a sub key?

He does say "Mounties are going to shoot first and ask questions later".

ETA: If you notice in all the articles 'blaze of glory' is never actually written with quotations meaning they were paraphrasing. So they took what he said and turned it into what they wanted people to take from it.

I'd take anything Bryer's father says as a lie, clearly it was a troubled home and the guy does seem to like media attention.
I doubt he knows and understands his son.

Well I do hope this woman personally is aware of the identity of the construction worker and it wasn’t a total stranger creating a hoax, never to be seen again.

True story. Key fell off the ring in my vehicle as I was closing the door. Asked some people for help. They got my vehicle open quickly, shook hands and told me their names. A few weeks later, they were named in the newspaper, charged as part of a car theft ring.

Me either... unless they are doing a "hey, here we are" type of thing.

In a way, I'm happy that people are still even looking. From the CBC article I just read, they have already checked out the area and didn't find anything, so I'm assuming now that it was called in fairly quickly IMO

I think we need to use caution and we need to have some patience.... last week, there was a "sighting" near Yorkton, SK... LE tracked down the vehicle and released the statement that it was not them. The sighting in York Landing, LE has said they cannot confirm the sighting. It doesn't mean it didn't happen, but maybe it is not them, maybe it was, maybe someone is messing with LE.

Being a flagger for a road crew, maybe they have been reminded to keep a lookout for these guys, which they should. If they did get out of Gillam, I could see it being a road crew that spots them before others. JMO

here is a link to the 2011 RAV4 valet key. It may still have that plastic housing on the top, but maybe it's metal under? I also think it's easier to get a spare valet key made just about anywhere than it is a key fob.
