“Mr Fowler’s sister, Savannah Fowler, took to Facebook overnight to inform wellwishers that her family wasn’t endorsing any crowd-funding for themselves, despite many offers of support, and asked that those wanting to donate flowers or money instead give to charity.

“We know that many will want to send flowers as a tribute to Lucas and Chynna,” Ms Fowler wrote.

“We would ask that instead, you consider donating to a charity close to your heart and that you notate the donation ‘for Lucas and Chynna’.

“Our family have not and do not intend to endorse any crowd funding for Lucas.

this is my hunch as well. still, glad OPP is investigating, and good that it was reported regardless of KM and BS because obviously it's a concern to have two young men going around taunting people with a weapon. that's terrifying for that poor worker.

Can't see them acting that way (if it is indeed them, which I doubt). I believe in past encounters, they would have come across as charming (even polite) young men. Why would you draw attention to yourselves? Previously witnessed by the York Landing gas bar girl, she noted Kam keeping his head down and being quiet. That makes more sense.

My issue is that it would be incredibly brazen and outright reckless for them to do something like that.

They’re triple murderers on the run, and behavior like that doesn’t serve any purpose.

Except to tell law enforcement where they are.

I agree, my thoughts are if true they are;

A) Very dumb
B) Want to get caught, like some killers who eventually get sloppy or alert the media becuase they are tired of the game.

Maybe they're getting braver and feeling invincible the longer they elude police? Could they be taunting police if it was them?

How seriously can we take the opinion of a man with mental health issues who had limited contact with his son throughout his son's life?

This past two years he has seen his son regularly, including working with him and taking him different places ie shopping. Seems to me that he must have some viable insight regarding his son.

on the one hand - not very. on the other, i don't think it's out of the question to surmise that there's probably some kernels of truth in what he's said.

Nobody knows their kid better than a parent. While I doubt he will "go out in a blaze of glory", I believe he is/was "on a suicide mission" and in obvious pain. The kid grew up in a dysfunctional household... just adds to the recipe for disaster.

If so I'd imagine they'd be maps of BC or even Northern BC. Not Manitoba.

I travel by road quite a bit and I do not have maps of other provinces unless I plan on going there. I have a road map book of my province however that lives between my passenger seat and e-brake/console.

I meant that the RAV4 contents at Split Lake would probably have included maps and other stuff belonging to Prof. Dyck. Botany books, diaries, etc. All burned to Ash in the fire.

I think practising at survival in Port Alberni with it’s temperate rain forest and west coast marine climate (a very mild climate which would be comparable to Seattle, say) wouldn’t be the best way of preparing them for the far more challenging terrain and weather of Northern Manitoba. It would be like taking a couple of teenagers from Port Angeles Washington and dumping them somewhere in the wilds of Alaska.

Old Ma Nature in Port Alberni is a gentle creature, really. Old Ma Nature in Gillam is a ruthless you know what.

On the other hand, the desire to live is so amazingly strong, I can’t forget that - and they are two healthy young men. So yes, though my gut feeling says they’re gone, I suppose they could last quite awhile out there yet.

He also said that the two had "baby hands". Recalling that Dellen Millard and Mark Smich did not steal the truck of a man who started telling them about his service in the military in Israel.

Would two beanpoles attack and overpower a guy who winches vehicles out of mudholes with ease, in broad daylight, with people watching? Not the way they work.

They sized him up and moved along.

On top of that, there were buildings around, the good Samaritan's brother was in his own yard near by, some kids were playing in a swimming pool, and I believe there is a multi unit dwelling there too. Why would these guys need to shoot anyone at this point when there could easily be eye witnesses? Strategically, there would be no advantage to shooting their helper, before or after.

I think that given that they are on the run, every fuel stop puts you at risk of being caught. So if it were me, I'd be filling the tank and driving until just about empty just to cut back on the number of stops.

I agree. I was balancing that with the [potentially erroneous] idea that there were long stretches between towns, such that one couldn't be certain to come across a fueling station every 50/100 miles, so would top off when the chance arose.

She says two young men in a white Ford Focus pulled up next to a construction worker near the Comfort Inn and brandished a gun. She says they gave the worker the finger and drove off.

She says she reported the incident to OPP because he was so shaken and upset. She says he was crying and was certain the men in the car matched the descriptions of the BC fugitives.

I just recently finished a book about the serial killer Israel Keyes. When he flew to the lower 48 and rented a car, it was a white Ford Focus, which the cops noted in frustration was the most common rental car in the US.

I know this may not be them, but also can't help but wonder what various bits of idolatry/inspiration these two might have taken from notorious killers such as Keyes.

Huh. I just noticed that a lot of media left off part of what Bryer's father said.

"Rest in peace, Bryer. I love you. I'm so sorry this all had to happen. I'm so sorry that I couldn't rescue you."

That kind of provides additional context for the "sorry this all had to happen," part, which was discussed here previously without this additional context.
