Good luck finding one of those old vehicles that is still on the road.

Guess what. Some Fords made in the past decade don't have locking gas caps.

Wouldn't the van that Lucas Fowler was driving fall into that category? Maybe they have an eye for that kind of thing. I have one sitting on the side of my house right now.

Of course, they'd need a bit of tubing and a gas can - not noted by the First Nation constables who stopped them.
Very interesting thought on why they might have been at the van! Can't you imagine the scene. Beater van stopped by side of road that looks abandoned with no signs of life, 2 suspects running low on fuel, one turns to the other and says 'lets fill up', they pop out of their vehicle, start to siphon, sleeping people inside wake up, fight happens, and sadly 2 people die way too young.

My 2012 Dodge Journey does not have a locking gas cap, neither did my 2006 Malibu Maxx. Just a twist off cap. The gas door doesn't lock...

Thanks for this link, CM .

Maybe an inherited 'injustice collector' ? A lifetime of perceived "unfairness", dealt to both him and his father ?
Speculating here.

Injustice Collector sounds appropriate. (and it's all "her" fault this mess now with son.)

When was the last time the botany professor Leonard Dyck was seen alive and well?

Could it have been that he stumbled upon Bryer and Kam by the side of the road after they'd murdered the couple (probably not with premeditated intent but something must have escalated the situation). Got out his car to see what was going on (not being aware of what was there - he could have just seen two cars pulled over and perhaps even the broken rear window) and was then taken hostage by the two boys? They could have then forced him to give up bank card PINS and withdraw as much cash as they could over a couple of days before deciding that they needed to get rid of him as he was a witness to the murder.

Just another theory, but totally depends on when Leonard was last seen prior to his murder. Is there any record of his movements?

To be fair to him, the tainted blood scandal WAS an utter injustice, and any man in family/divorce court may experience a rough and not always fair ride.

We own a fleet of vehicles and none have locking gas caps. I’ve never even heard of those but I admit I live in the middle of nowhere so not surprised lol maybe it’s a city thing? Or American thing? Not at all being rude-I’m just saying in the northern bc area, I’ve never known anyone to have a locking gas cap. We are very behind the times! And our ford raptor has no gas cap at all. It’s a 2015

That's an excellent point. That might very well be why they approached the broken down van.

Even if a vehicle does have a locking gas cap, most are easily dealt with. They're useless. Most newer vehicles do, however, have a screen built into the fill tube to prevent siphoning. But even that can be dealt with. However, lack of anti-siphon screen in the fill tube would be one reason for targeting older vehicles.

Yes, they don't have gas caps at all. Plus, no need to flip the hatch from inside. Just open it from outside the vehicle.

This is just an opinion of my own - Most people are victims of something to some degree, but there's some that seem to horde injustices and go by the victim title.

I don't like the new trend on the talent shows of the performer telling their sad tale before they perform. Seems like every single act has to tell a tearful story. It feels like a manipulation of my emotions.

How many towns have “Lake” in the name? It could drop that number down considerably.

My original comment was more of huh would you look at that. I don’t really think there’s anything to it.

It's like navigating a minefield of unconfirmed reports to get any factual information on this case! I am not sure I have ever seen this many journalists and news outlets posting unconfirmed reports. So, many of them are inaccurate.

I finally caught up with the thread. Even after reading, I am still not exactly sure where we stand with the happenings in this other than the latest "potential" sighting in Ontario is "unconfirmed."

I did see the pictures of the burnt areas and keys which were new to me; it's all so very odd. I just want to know what these guys end-game is, maybe they don't have one.

PURE SPECULATION and JMO, but that was my thought too. Someone saw the van assumed it was broken down and left there, so why not siphon the gas out. Possibly Chynna heard something outside and sat up and was putting on her shoes (found with one shoe) to go out and investigate who was outside. The thief or thieves were startled realizing someome was inside and shot through the rear window hitting Chynna first. Lucas jumped out the side door (seen open in crime scene photos) and he was then shot because he could identify the theives. The culprits may have considered stealing the van but it would not start, possibly explaining why both bodies were outside of the van. PURE SPECULATION and JMO

Same, not sure how many cars now have locking gas caps. I thought it was a thing for commercial vehicles and older cars? I live in a big city in Ontario and have put gas in MANY types of cars for the last 35 years and to my memory, not one has been a locking gas cap?

In response to what's their end game? My guess: To survive in the wild? After practicing how to do so for two years plus playing that survival game ( where you can kill people) to prepare?

It has been brutal trying to sift through it all.
The one thing I will be taking away from this is a nice big reminder of why I chose to ditch SM a couple years ago.
