So then did they just happen upon the boat along Sundance Creek or along the river? Or had they found it earlier when they still had the RAV4 and transported it to the creek before they set the Rav on fire?

Unless the police release the information I don't think we'll know for sure what exact route they took while traveling north in BC. Bryer told his grandmother and his father different stories about where they were going and I don't recall ever hearing what Kam told his family. If they did go to Whitehorse, like Bryer told his grandmother, and the last she heard from them was either the 13th or 14th (when she said Bryer told her it wasn't what they had expected and she did not know where they planned to go next, I would think it is safe to assume that they left early in the morning on the 12th. Regardless as to which route they took it would take them over 30 hours to drive to Whitehorse from Port Alberni.

Can someone with flow rate knowledge or river experience help me understand something here?

I live very close to the North Saskatchewan River which is a broad, shallow, steady-moving river. At normal summer levels, it takes about an hour to float 20 km in a canoe from Devon, AB through downtown Edmonton, AB.

Can someone offer a theory as to why only now are items being found along the banks of the river, with heavy enough water/rapids to dent an aluminum boat, 9km from where the Rav4 was burned? Why aren't they further downstream if the two fled by boat and capsized that first night? Why weren't they found over the last two weeks of mass searching in the area? Could the boat as well as several items been trapped in the eddy of the rapids and only recently spit out? Or could the two have been hiding out and only late last week attempted the boat escape?

Just looking for any ideas.

About the items found. If the items linked to them were scattered over 9 k on the banks of the Nelson, I wonder if those things came from the boat? If it overturned, those items could have washed ashore. If that's the case, then BS and KM are dead.

What I don’t quite understand - he thought the vehicle might’ve been burning due to an accident, possible occupants inside, so I agree, it must’ve been found close to the road. So what isn’t clear, if the RAV4 was just sitting upright in a more or less level ditch, what caused him to believe an accident occurred?

He saw thick smoke rising in the bushes, and had to search for 45 minutes to find the still burning, still upright SUV.

LOL Yes, it is a little less baffling than some of their other decisions--like, I can totally see using a major river as a navigational point--though it's still not great strategy by any stretch of the imagination. It baffles me less than, say, Pork Chop-gate.

Pork chops? Chicken poutine? No, seriously, it's probably something with their DNA on it and the reason why we're only hearing about it now is they had to test it. Or it could be an item which their families or Professor Dyck's family recognized. JMO.

Definitely not an expert but I think sometimes river currents can trap items and then spit them back out. Also the vegetation in the area is very dense and it's possible they weren't able to search the entire river bank with a fine tooth comb until now.

I lived in Edmonton for many years. Ottawa river near Pembroke would be closer to Nelson river. That boat is more appropriate for Split Lake. Check YouTube videos of Nelson and Ottawa river tours.

Clothing with DNA on it, pieces of paper like ID cards or maybe the Rav4 registration, or maps with their DNA, items traceable to the Rav4, maybe their DNA on that water jug - could even be a pile of feces

Disregarding the tragedy for a moment, as a former graphic designer I have to say this map is beautiful. Would it be too much work to include the Jade store stop for free coffee?
