It is believed they've left British Columbia and may have been spotted in northern Saskatchewan, the RCMP said on Tuesday morning. Two employees at a hardware store in Meadow Lake, Sask., about 250 kilometres northwest of Saskatoon, told CBC News the suspects were in their store and made purchases, though it was not clear when. “

There are three hardware stores in Meadow Lake. The article doesn't identify which one (i.e., that it was the Co-op store)

Good point. Could have gone to another hardware store. Maybe Co-op didn’t have what they needed.

ETA:
IIRC there was one confirmed sighting by Police which was the hardware store they released footage from.

Not sure you got an answer to your questions...I’m on my phone and it’s a lot harder scrolling through posts I missed.

I have no idea what sort of boxes/bags/backpacks Lucas and Chynna may have brought for their trip or how long it would take to go through it all. I suspect the murderers panicked and fled pretty quickly after the shootings. They did take the wallets and cash but didn’t find Chynna’s hidden passport.

They may have used flashlights but it wouldn’t have been completely dark. The sun sets at 10:30ish mid-July there but it doesn’t get totally dark that time of year...I think it’s called Nautical Twilight. It would be difficult to see but not pitch black.

I just think it is tough to root around and find things in vehicles and it was after 11:30 at night so likely maximum darkness for that time of year. CD's family might actually know pretty much what she packed since she left not long ago, IMO. LF probably had all his possessions with him because I do not think he was going back to the farm (?). Of course he had months to acquire some new things since he left AUS.

Yeap, that was the Co-op. The Home Hardware store would be the one someone would also go to for a greater selection of goods.

Home Hardware is more of a hardware store. The Co-op traditionally was a feed store, more geared to farmers.

If I can add to the complete speculation about 'considerate': my step-daughter worked for a summer at Tim Horton's, the largest chain of coffee/fast-food-ish places in Canada (think Dunkin' Donuts, American cousins) and she tells me 'nice' or 'polite' are for the customers who smile and order respectfully, 'considerate' is for the customer who buses their own tables rather than leave their garbage everywhere. Take that for what you will. :)

maybe he opened doors for people and never cut in line... but if you work the night shift, you are not going to be late during rush hour

Lucas was actually supposed to go back to the ranch for some of the summer and had left some but not a lot of belongings there.

True, charmers can kill too and many murderers can lay on the charm when needed.

He does look very serious and on edge too, his eyes look dark and cold to me. I don't know, there was something about his walk that gave me a chill. I use the word swagger, it's just so casual and lingering or something - something about his walk creeps me out!

his beard somehow reminded me of James Holmes. one supposed sign of increased mental instability is a radical change in appearance*, BTW, but the old school pictures of both BS and KM look the same as their recent photos. (*can't cite a learned treatise for this, but it was presented in a workplace violence training I was compelled to take).

What a beautiful article. Thanks for sharing it.
You're welcome! :) That paper did a whole series of articles on the victims in that case. Each article is really lovely--honestly brought tears to my eyes when I first read them.

Attaching the others for anyone who didn't get a chance to see them:

You can take a tour of their website. Guns on back wall.

Just went to grab you the link and it appears the website changed and photos of the interior are not showing. I will look for my previous post about this to see if that link will work. Did anyone by chance screenshot any of those pics?

Being a Canadian who shops at both stores, I'm familiar with both and what they offer, but thank you for the suggestion. The Co-Op has become more of a competitor to Home Hardware since their early days, and have increased their offerings. If I was in Meadow Lake looking for something, I'd definitely check out both stores.

The photos are still there, you just have to click on the "Local Service and Agro Center" from your link. ETA: Bottom right hand corner :)

Dumb question: What does SBM stand for?

Snipped By Me - I, myself and some others use it when replying to snippets from someone else's original post/thoughts. So not replying to entire post, but parts.

I use it to extend a courtesy to the original poster since I'm butchering their post and in a way using their words out of context and others don't/can't read the full post and meaning when snipped.

Not all do it, but I like to since I'm cherry picking other's words to respond with my own opinions/thoughts.

ETA - I just saw this has already been answered, sorry I'm catching up! :)

This is the right link, copying my previous post:

The ML Co-op carries quite a bit of camping, hunting, outdoor supplies. Here are some interior photos of the store taken from their website:

I think seasonal starts around aisle 12 (shown in photos). They may have also used the washroom which are typically in the back of the buildings.

ETA..
- restroom banner in blue hanging from ceiling.
- rifles on back wall under mounted deer head.

Interesting! I thought Kam's stache and beard reminded me of that V for Vandetta or Guy Fawkes mask. I could totally see Kam and Bryer being a fan of V for Vandetta, it seems right up their alley. MOO

Oh I misunderstood, I thought you were saying that they were more farm feed.

In a small town I would check out both stores too because of convenience and time.

They used to be (I had said "traditionally") and in smaller towns they still are, for the most part. Check out all the "Co-op"s on western grain elevator pictures (most have been demolished now). If I want barn cat food, I'll go to the Co-Op. If I want bullets or a rifle, I'll decide to go to Co-Op or Home Hardware depending on whether I'm in a rural or urban area.

They obviously went into the store because they wanted something. Either they didn't find it, or they stole it. And I'm pretty sure 3-time killers would have no qualms about shoplifting.

And to add, I think the trick to shoplifting is buy something small with full pockets or stuff in pants as it's less suspicious than walking out buying absolutely nothing especially if being watched. JMO

I agree. I don't see anything remarkable in the video.

They are walking, that's all. And the camera angle is looking down on them (while in the store) and it's not a typical human perspective, so it is easy to read things into it. (By that I mean we are typically viewing people horizontally; not semi-vertically.) They are very, very tall and long-legged and I think they carry themselves in an immature, "colt-ish" manner. (Hand in pocket, buttoning shirt while walking). But I truly don't think there is anything to be derived from the way they are walking and how that might explain anything about them.

The camera that recorded them upon exiting would catch anyone in their least photographic moments. I know I don't walk out of a store worrying about how I look or what expression I have on my face.

If they were at all anxious, I doubt they'd have been in the store to begin with due to concerns about recognition or cameras. They may not know how security cameras truly work, but they'd have to know they were there at all.

Wasn't it George Bush who used to get "accused" of swaggering, and he said, "In Texas, we call it walking". Nothing to be interpreted in my opinion. Not to say they didn't have things weighing heavily on their minds; I'm sure they did. With all respect to everyone's takes on this, I really don't see anything here to be translated into odd behavior or gaits.

JMO and as always, I respect everyone else's opinions as well as learning from all of you.

I've been saying it for a while, the video really doesn't give up anything. If we weren't fed the narrative of what they allegedly have done, we would assume these were a couple of guys just walking through, then out of a store. Nothing special.
But its that lack of seeing anything telling that is odd about it. For a couple of guys on the run, they don't look nervous, they certainly don't care about cameras filming them (they would have put on hoodies or ball caps for example); and they look fairly well kept and clean for a couple of guys who just murdered three people and are 'on the run' and flying under the radar. Seems way too casual, like they weren't even aware of any crimes. They certainly were not in the news at that time.
