Re: pork chops and orange peels - I always thought it sounded like they were from a take out order or a doggie bag they had picked up somewhere. You can get that sort of stuff in the deli section of most grocery stores. They may have snacked on them before leaving the burning RAV4, knowing they wouldn't be eating well for a while. I think there were orange peels, too, so they were obviously being "leisurely" about it if it was a snack. JMO

Yes, I suppose they could look but a bit like a needle in a haystack and I wonder how long they keep the recordings? They apparently installed hundreds of cameras just before the 2010 Winter Olympics, not sure if they are all still active. There are the traffic cams too that could be reviewed: Webcams at our Major Terminals | BC Ferries - British Columbia Ferry Services Inc..
I'm sure before they were suspects that RCMP asked the parents what time they left. They would have a estimated time it'd take to get to the ferry, so they could pinpoint a possible time.

I agree, I think they may have hit up a steak house or some random grocery store deli in Thompson. There's not many options after that. Also, did you see the photo of the orange peels? Orange slice rings placed neatly over what appears to be a pop can.

That looks more like rust on a car part to me. JMO.

That could almost be the RCMP and LE in general's motto, we find needles in haystacks. If they are digital cameras, the cost of keeping recordings is almost nothing, so, let's hope there are no glitches.

possibly dumb Q- will the RCMP know which ferry they took because there will be records?
I believe they will have camera footage, the ferry terminals are full of camera's. Spotting the truck would be pretty simple. It's possible they also have footage of licence plates.

I've never seen that photo before. It definitely doesn't look like something done in a hurry. I doubt it would have been in the car and survived the fire. It almost looks like they'd placed the rings around the soda can while driving and kept drinking the soda after getting out of the suv to burn it.

<modsnip: quoted post was removed>

Before this, I found true crime an excessively boring genre. And then this case came up on the morning news one day, and I haven’t been able to stop thinking about it!

It’s the speed with which it happened, and all the black holes in knowledge. And with the suspects deceased, the videos, etc... it is like something straight out of the mind of David Lynch.

SBM

I've never followed a TV show with as many twists and turns as this case. I actually can't think of a true crime case--and I have followed many in the past 20 years--that escalated as quickly as this did and kept just generating updates, seemingly out of nowhere for such a sustained period of time.

Thread is open again.

There is really only so much we can say about pork chops and orange peels. Please move on from that particular part of the discussion.

WS is primarily pro LE unless there is known reason not to be. Posts that derail the thread with anti LE sentiments will be removed and members subject to temporary or permanent loss of posting privileges.

Thanks.

It seems he would have given BS whatever he could, like he was being a friend or the cool dad Imo. He is the one who bought that air soft rifle. Was he unaware that his son threatened to cut off a classmates head? Did he buy the air soft after the threat? Who does that?!

I bet he gave Bryer whatever he wanted that he could afford within reason. He probably has a lot of guilt and trying to make up lost time. I believe based on the interview from one of Bryer's prior classmates was when they were in junior high. So I don't think he had any idea of the threat. He was to have no contact with Bryer's mother or grandmother, and I can't see Bryer telling his father that.

If anything I'm not even sure Bryer told his mother he was going to stay with his dad for that summer. I bet while living with Grandma, he got back in contact with him. And decided to just go spend the summer there. His mother likely found out, and probably didn't really care much. Which is kind of weird though. If she was afraid of AS, and had criminal harassment charges brought up against him, why would she let her son go there?

That's what it looks like to me too. It's the same colour as the rust on the can...which I don't think is a drink can either although I have no idea what it is. It looks like it has a hinge on the can to me, with some sort of metal bar between the lid and the can base.

I would think different types of metal react differently to fire so I'm not thinking orange peel at all.

All JMO

My attempts at enlargement...

I have read, not sure where now that it was Bryer's mother who left town. Kam's dad jointly owns a business (which I won't list the name of it here, but is not too hard to find) and has a lot of space on his property which is far weighs out of the city core so keeping a distance is a lot easier.

Thanks, yes perhaps that’s what I recall, B’s family left town.

BBM

Not to fixate on your posts specifically but...

AS seems Imo to have had some kind of idea of something. He already had his book in the works and his quote about a "blaze of glory" is telling. Again MOO.

This comment came after learning the two were named as murder suspects on July 24th.

He was also interviewed 2 days prior while the 2 were known to be missing and gives no indication he was aware of untoward actions whatsoever. Just ordinary kids....very different from the “blaze of glory” interview.

I hadn't actually watched this interview before now. Now I'm convinced he had no idea that they were planning anything. I think he knew his son better then anyone gave him credit for though. He said they were still out there, and he was right. Even though at first glance it didn't look good for them before they were made suspects.

As I know nothing about mechanics, I enlisted the aid of my personal assistant aka my husband. I said your image was found at the site of a burnt pickup truck and asked what he thought it looked like. He told me but added that it looked like part of it had been snapped off or damaged and said the red coils would only remain that colour for, say, a year. His answer - a shock absorber. Here's your image plus a new one. I've drawn an arrow pointing to one bit in each image.
