I must admit, I’ve never heard of Ritalin being snorted.

Snorting Ritalin | Sniffing Side Effects, Dangers & Help
Misusing Ritalin, such as by crushing and snorting it, is dangerous because at high doses it can lead to fever, irregular heart rate, heart failure, and seizures 1. Over time, snorting Ritalin can also result in serious cardiovascular issues, anger, psychotic symptoms such as paranoia, and if abruptly discontinued, is associated with withdrawal symptoms like depression, fatigue, and sleep disturbances 1,3. Snorting Ritalin can also lead to a more intensely realized high—a phenomenon that may increase the risk that a user will become addicted 3.....

.....Snorting Ritalin can be more dangerous than consuming it orally because of the potential to amplify the drug’s effects in the brain, which may in turn increase the drug’s addictive potential. In the brain, chemicals called neurotransmitters influence the way people feel. Stimulants like Ritalin affect two specific neurotransmitters, norepinephrine and dopamine, in the brain 3 to produce a euphoric stimulant high. This powerful high and the underlying biochemical mechanisms of stimulant intoxication can quickly lead to continued, compulsive drug use—it keeps the user coming back time and again in spite of the negative physical or mental consequences that may occur over time 3.

Searching for answers: Sense of unease lingers in B.C.’s isolated north as police hunt suspects in remote killings

...“The two men were recognizable, as was their truck. Some residents of Dease Lake recalled them camping in a lot outside town, and RCMP searched there. Ms. Adams’s said her mother saw the men hitchhiking along the highway, each thumbing in a different direction.”
Sounds like that may be the third site searched near Dease Lake. And that method of hitch-hiking strikes me as looking for a victim.

Yes, they HAVE (as in the past several days) been spotted in Manitoba. I think in Split Lake earlier this week.

That would be old news. If no other outlet is reporting it or if LE is not posting it as a new sighting on a twitter account, then I would not believe it.
Yeah that's kind of what I was thinking. Technically true but not new.

This very lengthy Globe and Mail report provides a comprehensive summary but there’s also a few tidbits I haven’t noticed published before. These are some of the highlights - BBM

Searching for answers: Sense of unease lingers in B.C.’s isolated north as police hunt suspects in remote killings

“A teen in Port Alberni described hanging out with Mr. Schmegelsky and Mr. McLeod while they camped at Sproat Lake this spring, and said Mr. Schmegelsky was wearing a swastika armband and military fatigues, and using a replica Nazi knife to crush Ritalin tablets and snort them.”

“The two men were recognizable, as was their truck. Some residents of Dease Lake recalled them camping in a lot outside town, and RCMP searched there. Ms. Adams’s said her mother saw the men hitchhiking along the highway, each thumbing in a different direction.”

“(Walmart) Co-worker M.J. Pelletier recalled Mr. McLeod was nice enough, but said he seemed uncomfortable in close contact with people other than Mr. Schmegelsky at work. “Usually, people are shy, but the whole not-standing-next-to-you or getting-close-to-you? That’s the odd part,” she said.”

“A video posted to Mr. McLeod’s YouTube page last year shows the men running through the digital countryside, battling other players in the first-person shooter game Counter-Strike. In the game Rust, where Mr. Schmegelsky clocked more than 500 hours in recent years, the goal is to survive in the outdoors and to “protect yourself from other players, and kill them for meat.”..”

“(In northern BC) Mr. Simonovic said that, when he saw Mr. Schmegelsky and Mr. McLeod at his family’s business, he immediately had a bad feeling about them in his gut. After 50 years living and working along one of the continent’s most desolate stretches of highway, Mr. Simonovic says he has learned to trust his instincts and that he didn’t like them on sight.”

“The teens fled east through Alberta, where RCMP say, a resident in Cold Lake found them in the RAV 4 stuck on a trail, and helped them get free. The teens were then captured on a store security camera in Meadow Lake, northwest of Saskatoon....”
Thanks for sharing! Quite a bit of that was new info to me. That's interesting about the guy who had a bad feeling about them. I wonder at what point he encountered them. I've learned over the years to always trust those instincts, even if they seem completely inexplicable.

Yeah. I sortof realized at some point we actually do have info about kam its just "lackluster"
Seems most people who knew them describe kam as generally nice and quiet and surprise seems to be the general reaction. They dont mention him much because they just go on about how off BS seemed.
I mean its not just the media doing that, people who knew them both seem to focus on BS as being the concerning one

speculation only beyond
Looking at one of them in full camo and one in a pokemon shirt, almost wonder if it was preplanned but only one of them knew in advance. Maybe if KM has been the protector for his strange friend since elementary he coudl still be with him out of some sense of loyalty. Or feels in just as deep, or is, or doesnt know any of it was premeditated. Hell who knows tho maybe thats totally backwards

Surely Walmart must have strict inventory control of the firearms they sell.

LE should cetainly be auditing their records very carfully.

Walmart would, indeed, be a great place to pilfer the supplies and equipment they need. Especially on those late night shifts
walmart sells firearms in Canada??..

There's something odd about this because the killings (and vehicle fires) were right out in the open, very brazen. Yet, after killing, they go into hiding? It doesn't seem to fit unless they're dead or cooking up some big plan against the RCMP. Why kill out in the open, lead the police on a trail, and then hide for days?
Could they be playing a game? Idk seems that way? Or they are dead - which I doubt

If he ditches that camo jacket. They will be invisible.

K&S were documented leaving Port Alberni on July 12, while the gun robbery was reported on July 11, so they couldn't have done it themselves.

I do think they secured a weapon and ammo in Port Alberni or at least made arrangements prior to their departure. This whole stupid ploy seems pre-meditated in many respects and having firearms and a supply of ammo would be a critical part of this whole ploy. Securing them in would be easiest from the base where you live. And how much would this cost? They sure made those 5 months of Walmart wages go a long way.

I don't think it's credible that they would happenstance across firearms and ammo after they departed unless they had already made arrangements.

Wait a minute, I thought they only worked at Walmart for 5 weeks, not months. Weeks or months? BS Dad said something about his 2nd paycheck here in the screengrabs. What's that about $100 cologne BS wanted and his Dad said he bought it for him. Fancy kid, huh. Bet he wants some bug spray now.

Each hitchhiking in a different direction, so if one vehicle stops they both hop in? That must be how the UBC Botanist was a victim - picked up a hitchhiker.

What happened next? Where was their vehicle when they stopped the Botanist?

Or it is a ruse. Burning vehicles are obvious; suspicion is that they must be in the area, when really they acquired another car first and are already down the highway.

Forensics should be able to tell if some kind of method was used to delay the fire starting. But even without that, if they had multiple vehicles, they could speed away from the site faster than anticipated, and (perhaps) splitting up would reduce the chance of detection over some ground since most people are looking for two people, not one person.

Just in case any of my Canadian frères et soeurs bien-aimés are feeling a bit uncomfy about how long this is taking, in my state, NSW in AU, a complete idiot kept the NSW police, the AU army and Air Force, the State Emergency Services and the entire community at bay for seven ( 7 ) years, hidden away in the bush, making the odd foray out and straight back in.

Note the picture of the bush, similar, in some ways , I reckon, to where these 2 are skipping around.

So, I'm guessing KM's face and body language in the Co-Op were because he didn't want to be around other people. He probably couldn't wait to get out of the store.

From the G&M article I linked -
The teens fled east through Alberta, where RCMP say, a resident in Cold Lake found them in the RAV 4 stuck on a trail, and helped them get free.”

This answers one question about their route. And if they got stuck on a trail by Cold Lake I’m even more convinced they didn’t have a travel plan to lead them to a dead end road in Gillam either.

The vibe I'm getting is it was one of those friendships where people had a hard time putting them together as friends, though it was clear they were close. Kind of like, "Well, Kam seems okay, all things considered, but his friend is really creepy. What's he see in him?" And it also seems like BS's poor dad is the only one who genuinely is surprised by this news about his son whereas people who knew KM do seem more legitimately surprised.

That being said, I don't think either of them is an unwilling or an unwitting participant.

All MOO.

Yes, those were my exact thoughts too.

Three crime scenes near Dease Lake:
  • the camper and contents (e.g.: computer tower) near Dease Lake
  • burning truck 50 km S of Dease Lake
  • Botanist's body 2 km S of the truck

Most Walmart stores sell ammo but it would be difficult to steal because it locked up in the sporting goods area. Very few employees have those keys in order to ensure that protocol is followed. The customer requesting ammo, must produce their PAL before the case is unlocked, the ammo is carried to a till by the same employee, who hands it and the PAL card to the cashier. The sale will not complete with out the correct information being entered.

Canadian Tire also sells ammo but their protocol is even more strict, you must show your PAL before they open the case, they record type and amount of ammo purchased in a ledger, along with the name, address and PAL before they carry it to a cashier and you present the same again.

I suspect the firearm and ammo they used were stolen and they likely didn't get much but also wonder if they have enough knowledge to even know what they need.
I know they keep it locked up in the sporting goods section, but if they keep stock in the back, is that locked up as well? That's where my mind was going in regards to the ammo is them taking a box here or there from the back of it isn't locked up

Wal-mart in canada sells ammo but not guns as I understand it

The pair worked at wal-mart for five WEEKS, as I understand it

Camper was burned with the truck: third site police searching near DL believed to be a spot the pair camped, as I understand it. Link not handy but I was wondering same thing and someone answered, not too far back, few pages tops

How police closed in on NSW's most wanted man Malcom Naden

Wow, his cousin, neighbour and assault of a 12 year old! And on the run for seven years! Not the kind of thing anyone wants to hear my Australian frere when these murderers are on the run and probably bushing it off and on somewhere. :)

Btw, how big of place is Dubbo? Never mind I googled it :)
