THanks! Is the 'L' shaped portion the lagoon and the two squares next to it the garbage dump?

Oh I think it is them. This town is in the middle of nowhere, you don’t just happen upon it as part of a walk. It’s small enough that everyone is known, and you wouldn’t run into the bush if you were a resident of the town, and you wouldn’t be walking around the dump either.
The question for me is how did they get there and why didn’t the RCMP anticipate that nearby towns should be patrolled and on alert?

York Landing is a First Nation territory and they control all access to it, so I think they would have had a greater sense of control of access by outsiders. I believe RCMP would have to defer to First Nation Chiefs of the area, but I read a comment that they had been very much aware of the issues and on alert.

You can see the three locations here - looks like a 7 hour drive from Split Lake to Rav4.

View attachment 195526

@otto - please confirm.

Several posts here showing Gillam (not Fox Lake car burn) to the Split Lake Ferry via MB 280 is about 2 hour drive -- 173.km.

Big discrepancy to your 7 hour post.

(Ferry: Split Lake to York Landing about 1.5 hours).

Thanks.

They are currently charged with the murder of all three.
Do you have a link to the report of that? I have never seen them charged with murder of the couple, only listed as suspects? They were charged with 2nd-degree murder of Mr. Dyck.

They are??

I mean, there is a reason authorities believe they killed all 3 people. They aren't speculating at this point. They are accused/charged.

They have been charged with only one murder, not three. I don't know what the word "accused" means to you, but I think in terms of charges. People have been making accusations all over the place, yes.

Hopefully the authorities have more reasons and evidence than what we know.

I want to know WHY the police have had nothing to say about the man seen arguing with the couple, and WHY, after all this time he has not come forward or been tracked at all?

Because some people may refuse to accept that he is not the murderer, even if he just wanted to drive them to Fort Nelson.

When I first looked at the area I thought that the ponds was sewage processing and the small area opposite looked like landfill. Its small but still about the size of a house so big enough. The other area a little further up the road looked like a scrap yard and further out there seems like a quarry.

No, look further right until you see some rubble.

I think so - although it's probably very similar - but our poster here was familiar with Manitoba (I think).

They've probably committed some crimes in Manitoba too. Someone said that they would not be put in the same prison, so perhaps there would be a deal worked out between provinces? I dunno.
Co-Convicted are never usually placed in the same Institution...at least in the Federal Pens in Canada.

I remember that "rumor" so why didn't the RCMP at least have a few officers stationed there? Just in case it wasn't a "rumor" Tsk tsk

Any links please?

It still seems odd to light the car on fire. Why do that? You are surrounded by bush. You could easily dump it in the bush. Why draw attention to it?
Possibly they are not the ones who torched the car? MOO

I don't yet believe they are responsible for "all the horror". I don't know what happened with Mr. Dyck, but none of that makes any sense and we don't know if other people were also involved. It is far more likely that Chynna and Lucas were murdered by the man seen arguing with them and making gestures right near their van late at night (11.30pm?), after which their bodies were discovered and reported a few hours later (6.45am?)- than the speculative scenario that the 2 teenagers detoured down to stop on the side of the road and murder/rob them. If they were murderers to this scale, they would have certainly killed other people in the past extremely stressful week and as far as reported, they have not even threatened anybody during this time, when desperate have not even stolen clothing and have gone to the dump.
Well, I wonder what ever happened with that fugitive from the USA who came across the border while all this man hunt was going on. Haven't seen much about that in media.

Pretty well all of northern Manitoba is First Nations territory...
First Nations were on alert. RCMP seemingly wasnt

Where I live there is a beautiful falls area near where the salmon spawn. There is a platform area to watch and usually a conservation/warden nearby. I go to watch the bears and the way to know they are nearby is by smell. A big whiff of dead fish because they have been eating them all day. In the fall they can smell like sour fruit especially if apple trees are nearby. “You are what you eat”.
Yes fish but not rotting meat lol
