That's my understanding - that they cleared the area, and the suspects are not there and there is no evidence that they were there.

Although the RCMP haven’t left York Landing so I’m thinking the inability to confirm the sighting is not quite the same as cleared the area.

After a thorough & exhaustive search, #rcmpmb has not been able to substantiate the tip in York Landing. RCMP resources will continue to be in the York Landing & Gillam areas. We thank the community for their patience & understanding & ask them to continue to be vigilant.

So wearing camo shows a proclivity to a life of violence????
If that's the case, everyone stay well away from Walmart! Ours has to be like 30% camo wearers, and it isn't even hunting season.

Mine has half nude people.

There is no way some unknown guys were not them, which to me means someone lied to RCMP.

But wouldn’t they be liable to get shot that way?

Well why not just have them stay home, safe and sound on the couch
Ok. So in your opinion, it is plausible that these guys are running for no reason, the RCMP has no evidence against them, and there is another murderer on the loose?

Exactly, in this article about the caring woman laying a wreath where Leonard Dyck died, I noticed she was wearing camo pants. https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/brit...vancouver-death-wreath-quietly-laid-1.5226788

I live near where the suspects grew up, camo is more associated with hunting than with the military. Wearing full camo, including a hat, makes you look more like a dork than a mass murderer

Jeepers. If this was fabricated, it’s caused untold damage.

A complete waste and misdirection of resources, and two murderers on the loose.

Lives are at risk, especially in communities that may have left their guard down after hearing about this sighting.

I hope that’s not the case.

It just doesn't make sense that in a community of less than 500 people, you see two 6ft4 men rummaging in a dump and you do not recognize them. Surely they must recognize everyone, or nearly everyone. There were 4 people who witnessed them.

How did none of them recognize them, and it's not plausible that 4 people would decide to all lie to the RCMP for 'fun'.

I think they are expert hiders, and they are smart and that the sighting was them but they were prepared for their next step if and when they were seen. That is the whole thing of it being a game, they need to know their next more and be quick and discreet with it. MOO

Why don't they just call Mantracker? A good ole american tracker would have them nailed down in time for supper!

That has been suggested on Twitter and an Oak Bay Police officer is a bit touchy about the suggestion.

Why don't you head up there? Seems you've got it all worked out from your vast experience...watching Manhunt on TV.

We, on the other hand, are so grateful to our sisters & brothers who are risking their lives to try to capture these dangerous criminals.

And Canada now has the consecutive sentencing option for multiple murders. Technically for 3 murders a sentence could 3 x 25 = 75 years and the court can impose consecutive periods of parole ineligibility for each murder.

It’s good that you say “technically”. The Québec Court of Appeal is currently considering the sentence of a young man who, in a clear hate crime, murdered six moslems at prayer in a Québec City mosque. The government is asking that the sentence be increased from 40 years to 50, which is a long way from 150. The defence is asking that it be reduced from 40.

The RCMP may be wrong (it's happened before, and their recent history/performance is not stellar). And there may well be another murderer (s) involved, I don't know. My belief (or my opinion, not based on any facts) is that the RCMP doesn't know either.
I do believe however that they should not be convicted and pronounced guilty before being captured and put on trial.

I agree, camo is a very popular wardrobe choice in this country.

That being siad, he looks like he has real military gear, so he either stole it or went to an army surplus shop. Not exactly the real tree kind...
