This isn't a game? Lanius
Well all that Lanius stuff does revolve around protecting a dam and succeeding in quests. Frankly it gives me a headache just thinking about it. Someone does need to analyze their fascination with this, though. There may be some roadsigns in the game that explains their behaviour.

@Trooper Interesting indeed , why has the killing stopped ? And now that the search of the vehicle revealed no long gun and LE won’t disclose the manner of death for LD .... makes one wonder if they ditched the gun somewhere before killing LD ... which again would make you think maybe they didn’t intend on a murderous tirade .... I can’t explain the killings obviously but could it have been a Robbery gone awry ... they panicked had to get another ride quick and LD was the first “easy” target.... he put up a fight ( not so easy ) and they killed him during a struggle ? IDK I’m glad they haven’t taken another life that we know of tho .

I am taking the position that the stopping of killing is due to the lack of weaponry that would make it easier than killing with their own bare hands. There is something a little weak in their faces , to me, that tells me that point hasn't been reached yet, but it isn't improbable that it will be reached at some point. I certainly don't think they stopped killing out of a sense of remorse or disgust with themselves. Robbery , I think ,was a by product of the murders, and why not? there is the stuff, the owner of it is dead, they need it, they take it. It's a simple , logical process.

Even if that wasn't the conscious process, I reckon it was , subconsciously. Three people , with a bit of a gap inbetween, one a woman, … that is people determined to kill, come what may.

Yes, I've been wondering about that as well. I haven't read any updates about this Derek Whisenand lately, and I wonder where he is!

I have to wonder if this is related.

Here's another (earlier named) suspect. He resembles that sketch, IMO far more than Kam does. Just putting that out there. I'm not promoting anything, btw. I am merely interested in the truth in this case. And like everyone, I have my sense of the facts but also a lot of questions).

He looks more like that sketch to me, but we all differ in our facial recognition systems.

Derek Whisenand.

What places the two teens at the roadside murder of the young couple? Certainly, RCMP wants to talk to them about it, right? But will they charge them? I am going to stay tuned. Derek W. is still out there...AFAIK. If he hasn't shaved for a couple of days, he would resemble that composite even more.

RCMP receive tips on Texas murder suspect in connection with northern B.C. double homicide

Whisenand crossed into Manitoba from the USA around June 24 !

So...RCMP needs some physical evidence to link B&K to the killings of the young couple, IMO. If they have it, they will make the charges, and then, yes, I'll go with "it looks like they did it."

Until then, the two are wanted in one murder, that did not (as far as we know) involve a gun. Changing MO in between two closely timed murders is unusual. No van burned in the first case, two vehicles burned in the second.

Yes, I recall we were looking into his escape early on. So, the easiest way to clear th at up would be for the two teens to turn themselves in and be interviewed by LE. RCMP is already looking for Whisenand. Imagine how much more assets they could devote to that criminal if these kids would just turn themselves in?

I have a hard time understanding how they can survive in such an isolated area without much financial assistance.
Some First Nations were moved to more remote areas.

When Hudson's Bay Company first started trading fur, these three groups were doing quite well.

A few people have mentioned that they don't think that the suspects had a gun. RCMP have stated that the first two victims died of "gun violence," so the suspects had a gun.
Actually (I could be mistaken) I don't recall the phrase 'gun violence'...I don't think they've fully released how Mr. Dyck was killed. I know Lucas Fowler was reported to have a small gun wound near his abdomen. Also the Auxiliary Policemen at Split Lake did not come across a gun when they searched their vehicle. My inner voice tells me they have their coveted knife still though.

How thorough is a roadside check for alcohol in Split Lake? I don't believe they can search a vehicle without establishing cause. And I don't believe this was more than a quick glance. This was not a customs or border control kind of search. I could be wrong.

Well it would be pretty difficult to take those loads of gear and maps with them on foot after burning the RAV 4...

Yep. They should have prioritized food and sleeping bags, and one good map. Something for rain if they had it in the first place.

I was wondering if the odors around the dump may have had enough impact to not allow dogs to pickup their scent from there. Not sure how strong the odors would be or whether it would have had enough of an impact to prevent dogs from finding where they were last seen.

I'm so interested in this, too. I watch every clip with search dogs in it, that I can find, and have watched some hunting dogs in action (but never people-seeking dogs).

Presumably, the dog team did not arrive in 20 minutes. In fact, given the distances, how do the dogs get around? And do they use the same team or dog each time? They would need to keep the B&K laundry items in plastic, and re-scent the dogs each time. Their laundry would have a different scent (given the different environments and stressors) than their current scent, so how does that work? I too wonder if the area right around a dump is a good place to try and pick up a scent - I'm sure they'll have the dogs go along the area where they were sighted (that side of the dump). I wonder how similar they have to smell (to their laundry - and would there have been still-dirty laundry back at home? Maybe an infrequently laundered jacket or sweatshirt would work...from each home).

Rain and wind last night, right?

"Deese’s father, Dwayne Deese, told the Observer that the family had not received much information about the crimes, but he believed the attack to be violent because it took police three days to identify the bodies”…….

I wonder if it is possible that K & B could have a bag full of dried food packages that you just mix with water. Might not be great with cold water but still provide some nourishment. They would be lightweight to carry.

  • #512
Perhaps they are in someone’s basement gaming and laughing at all the sitings , uproar and panic they have caused..not funny but one never knows.
This theory is just about as good as any others. And that's exactly what they could be doing.

combination of hydro lines, winter roads, decent trails, theres alot of ways to get to the dump without having to go through town. They might have even come upon the dump before/instead of town. no way to know really. where on the spectrum are they between lost clueless desperate / and navigating ably, etc
Can you check trails from York Landing to Ilford, home of the "War Lake" First Nation?

Do we know if this is actually accurate? Is Split Lake a dry community and they were just checking for bootleggers?

He had an obviously very grey, full beard and white hair. Witness saw someone with a different style, trimmed beard that was dark. They estimated the person was in their 30's to 40's. Not similar to the victim.

Sorry, I'm not sure why some folks want to promote the idea that these young men are innocent. If they are, why don't they stop and turn themselves in?

ETA: Yes, they're innocent until proven guilty, but they're very strong suspects. If innocent, they should turn themselves in peacefully. They've had several opportunities so far.

Innocent until proven guilty. They have been charged with one murder but we don't know how the victim died (shot? run over accidentally etc), and are suspects in the others, not yet charged.

My son and his dad we're going to go out into the bush for a little bit and to help save room with their supplies they bought a whole bunch of Meal, Ready-to-Eat – commonly known as MRE.
They actually got them from a local military supply surplus shop.
Small compressed packages and nutritious as well.
My son brought me in a few different ones there was like spaghetti and steak with vegetables, tuna casserole and pudding, packages of juice and water. They even had salt and pepper and ketchup..... all kinds of different types. I tried some of the different ones and most of them were pretty good. There was a few that were kind of gross. But they actually we're nutritious and if a person had enough of them they could live on those for a while for sure.

Army surplus stores where they shopped may sell boxes of 3600 calorie meal bars. I think the teens left home prepared with something like these.

I think it's time for RCMP to pack up their toys and go home. When there's another tip, they can swarm another area, but Gillam is a dead end. I don't think the suspects were ever in the York Landing area as there is no evidence that the suspects were in the area. If the suspects were in the Gillam area, diverting the search to York Landing weakened their effort in Gillam.

It looks like the suspects were gone before police arrived.
