We heard that the shooter was job hopping and homeless but never that he travelled overseas previously.
We knew he was trying to obtain a passport .... but had not heard that he possessed a Libyan passport previously.

If the problems with home grown terrorists, relates to mental issues, as opposed to political/ religious ones, will that change how LE respond to mentally ill individuals brandishing weapons ?
If someone is behaving in a threatening or erratic manner, should LE assume the person might commit a terrorist act, and effectively stop the potential threat,
or just talk to them, because they are mentally unwell ?

Everyone with a weapon that is threatening will be treated the same, regardless of mental health issues. That's how it has always been.

"Couture-Rouleau and Zehaf-Bibeau also tangled with authorities over their passport. Couture-Rouleau's passport was seized after he was arrested at the airport in July while on his way to Turkey. Zehaf-Bibeau was apparently frustrated over the time it was taking to obtain a Canadian passport and the time it would take to get a Libyan passport. Find it hard to believe any media source will be able to verify this statement from the RCMP -

Zehaf-Bibeau subsidized his pre-attack activities from his own earnings, saved while employed in the Alberta oilsands, the statement said.

"He had access to a considerable amount of funds. We are investigating all of his disbursements in the period leading up to the attack," the RCMP said.

Can't see how his criminal background would land him a job with any company involved in the Alberta oilsands. Between drug use, serving jail time and living in a BC shelter, when exactly did MZB work and save money?

This seems dubious as well, imo -

RCMP also said they believe a knife Zehaf-Bibeau was carrying was taken from his aunt's property in Mont Tremblant, Que. He had lived there years earlier and appeared to have stored the knife on the property.

Authorities are still looking into the origin of the gun used in the deadly attack at the National War Memorial that left 24-year-old Cpl. Nathan Cirillo dead. Police called it an old, uncommon gun that Zehaf-Bibeau could have also hidden on the property.

For the last few years, these property owners never came across weapons hidden on their property? If MZB had 'access to a considerable amount of funds', why didn't he purchase weapon(s) in the last couple of weeks? Why take the time to see if something old is still where you left it years ago? He would need to clean the rifle to make sure it worked. He had that knowledge?

Susan Bibeau later denied that in a letter published by Postmedia News, saying her son told her he wanted to go to Saudi Arabia where he could study the Qur'an. RCMP confirmed to CBC News on Saturday that indeed they had made an error in transcribing the interview, and that Susan Bibeau did not mention Syria on the recording.

Imo, Paulson should have finished his inquiry on the gun before making an assumption that he passed on to the public. There's no serial number on the gun to trace? Aside from the fact the whole gun registry was kicked out by Harper? Not getting something here.

Between the dubious money source and where the gun came from - fear mongering, also imo. Paulson has much to gain by this - something he has wanted for a long time but so far can't have.

Gotta wonder about this whole affair - a dead guy can't speak. Would like to hear from the aunt - property owner. Or has she been muzzled?

Not real clear on what you think is so dubious about the possibility of Bibeau having worked in the oilsands or where the gun came from, and how this all equates to fear mongering on behalf of LE.

If the dead guy could speak, what could he say that would allay your concerns about where his money came from or where he got the gun?
