The family says it is out of character for her to just leave without contact with anyone, yet, her husband apparently didn't think much of her being gone without contact for 4 to 5 days before someone finally contacted LE... such a glaring inconsistency. Which is it? It's out of character, or something he's used to?

Is there a local search and information effort in Calgary by anyone?

where would one start besides her home? as she lives at the crossroads of ways out of town and also into the sprawling alwyth train yards and foothills industrial that runs near 100 blocks by 50. The Fish Creek Park thing is disturbing because the water treatment plant just above where Fish Creek enters the Bow makes the water nitrogen rich which means the river is accessible (not frozen). Also, there is a slight elevation change in the river which makes it unnervingly swift. The park gates close at 10:00pm in some spots but I'm unsure of the main gateway going in. Also it is a park used by many (bike path, fly fishers,, or close to the river) but not many venture towards the wetlands/grasslands. The pictures were found by F&W (who check fishermen daily, sometimes 3 times a day), so the route was riverside.

The pictures should have an embedded time date user stamp that us regulars can't see? I know that word documents have it and if the word program used was registered by the user, that name can be found on the printed matter regardless of the printer. This was used to catch a pastor stateside who blackmailed and murdered someone.

I wonder if the photos were on photography film print or on paper or polaroid. I hope LE makes a follow up statement this evening as they have been investigating this for three days now. If this is potentially a random act of foul play the public deserves to know.

This case, as I had predicted will not end well. Police have provided very little and sometimes misleading information. They need to inform the public on the outside chance Shannon is alive and being held somewhere against her will or tortured in the worst case scenario. The community should be relied on for assistance and tips at this point.

The fact that the photos have been there less than two weeks makes me think the person went back to the scene to leave the photos possibly. Was the case not getting enough attention, so the person had to go to these measures to get attention from MSM/LE? It's they wanted to lead LE exactly where to look. Either because of a conscience or for attention seeking.

I hope you're right about CCTV cameras there, I hope LE knows something. The newest articles say it is related to this case.

Tortured??? When did that enter the picture? I highly doubt LE is going to let on too much about what they know. Why give any nefarious suspect a heads up that they are on to him/her/them?

Good question, with everything digital these days I would think it'd have to be polaroid or printed on home computer/ink jet printer on photo paper. I wonder if the photos were in plastic to protect the images? The weather would have surely withered down paper based photos if they weren't protected.

That's probably part of how they determined how long they could have been there. Hasn't the weather been warm there the last couple of weeks?

I wonder if another woman had it out for SB? Would SB's husband had been involved with anyone else new? As suspicious as I am about the husband, I'm still trying not to totally focus on him alone.

Or was she involved with someone else?

If these photos are related I would say it's not likely the ex.

Couldn't he be trying to deflect suspicion?

The chances of stranger abduction is rare and mostly reserved for Hollywood.

True. But if he did kill Shannon it would be a crime of passion not some sick game. The guy would likely be on the verge of a nervous breakdown himself and unlikely to pin up photographs of shannon in a park.

You would be surprised how many couples play, what some would consider, sick games. One can also be cool and collected while posting photos.

We don't currently know if the pictures are related... if so, it could be an amateurish attempt at deflecting suspicion, a cry for attention, or perhaps even a publicity stunt.

Or was she involved with someone else?

Yes! If she was rebounding from a recently failed relationship she may have made a quick judgement of character with someone she doesn't know such as a man from a dating site or a party or club, or she could have hooked up with someone she does know in the acting/comic/friends circle. I hope she has a really good friend who knew her intimate details and the dynamics of her life and that LE has all of this covered.

Just to update the Slenderman/Cosplay suggestion... Potentially a viable lead:

Apparently the Slenderman persona has inspired some very bizarre real life games - Cosplay.

Usually eight notes or pictures are posted on trees in the woods by the person playing the Slenderman and participants find the notes, trying not to get tagged by the Slenderman.

If you get all the notes and not get tagged you win. If the Slenderman tags all the victims, he wins.

This can either be played as just a game, or videotaped and uploaded for other fans to comment.

But I think a day or two in rain or snow would deteriorate the image to be unrecognizable, it doesn't take much to breakdown paper and make ink or photo chemicals run. I find it interesting the can make out the images considering the weather Calgary gets.

and what if the game is played for real?

larp is an odd role playing as it incorporates D&D characters and fairytale and sci-fi and lovecraft characters and smurfs and so forth. adding slenderman into the mix isn't that far off base.

luckily from December 1st thru now it has been Chinook (first nations: Snow Eater) dry, there is no snow just a blanket of frost. It takes a loooong time for things to rot here.

I was starting to head down that road that maybe SB is involved in some LARP/Cosplay role. Either she is deep into character or the game turned diabolical and became very real.

It falls in line with her past involvements and may explain why she has now disappeared. Someone took it too far.
