Curious who C Mcnut might be, are you referencing a rap artist who, dressed like a squirrel, raps poems by Wordsworth?

No the caution: m*y c*ntain n*ts director

Sorry trying to reduce search engine hits. CS was the initials of the person who is also following SB on twitter. Just trying to help provide more sleuthing avenues, I didn't see anything suspect at first glance.

I'm also curious about these "financial transaction*S*" in Inglewood. I can't help but tie this into leaving the cellular phone at home. Perhaps she bought a new one before heading off to start a new life? Doubtful having this knowledge from LE would make sleuthing any easier, but it could explain the lack of suspicion and updates regarding the case of this poor gal. MOO

Also - Vancouver or Toronto *could* have been an anonymous train ticket? Where's the terminal in Calgary?

To take a train to Vancouver from Calgary involves bussing to Edmonton then boarding a train for the duration. I assume the same is for Toronto. The charter bus is near (walking distance) Inglewood/9th Ave. Shannon could have booked the suggested way below or found a ride to Edmonton and continued with VIA Rail. It is definetly a possibility. She could have also taken the greyhound to Vancouver which would have been faster and cheaper then train. Train would be more private and contemplative, and more expensive.

Pulled from VIA Rail:
Red Arrow Motorcoach

Your trip involves an intermodal connection at Edmonton from a Red Arrow Motorcoach to a VIA train.

First, book your motorcoach trip from CALGARY to Edmonton with Red Arrow Motorcoach at www.redarrow.ca.

Next, book your train trip from Edmonton to VANCOUVER with VIA.

Should you require an overnight hotel stay in Edmonton, please contact our partner Best Western Cedar Park Inn at 1 800 661-9461 for special VIA Rail rates.

VIA Rail has partnered with Red Arrow Motorcoach to make your trip planning simpler. By increasing our connectivity with other modes, we're facilitating seamless door-to-door travel. At the same time, we're reducing car congestion and helping to build a healthy transportation ecosystem from coast to coast.

Red Arrow would be a great resource for her frequent trips to Edmonton. I am curious if she ever used the service.

It seems affordable...

If she bought a bus or train ticket, wouldn't they would know which city? They have video at all the terminals.

Hopefully it was checked!

Totally! I would think it would be the same standard protocol they employ as checking flights and border crossings.

Would there be that much resources thrown at this though? Police weren't alerted until days after she possibly left. Is there video still available at that time? Is there any cause for a warrant to look at the video? Do they politely ask the terminals to look at video voluntarily and alert them if they see anything? With 3000 "missing" reports a year, does LE really go through that process every time?

I would imagine that with most of those missing people, they are found quite quickly and as they stated, most are teens that leave on their own free will. The police devoted a presser to this case that included a family plea - something they certainly don't do for the majority of those missing people.

I would take that as evidence that they believe she could be in danger somehow. I am confident that they followed standard protocol which includes travel means.

If they had financial records showing she purchased a ticket to somewhere, that would be sufficient enough for a warrant. At the very least, depots and airports would save their video for 30 days. I doubt they would hesitate offering without a warrant in any event.

I'm with you OutOfTheDarkness, I think the general public believe that LE do a lot more in each case than they actually do. Not saying anything negative, it's just all about money, resources, need and reality. In a case near me, a man went missing and 10 days later his truck was found having been ditched near a train station. By that time, the station had already recorded over their CCTV recordings for the day in question, and so that opportunity was lost. It is likely a different time span for every train station in regard to how long it takes to overwrite previous recordings, but just saying. LE also has to weigh each case as to the possibility that an 'adult' went 'missing' on their own volition. If there are no signs of SB having taken the train/bus/whatever is at the station, I can't see them bothering with it. I have a feeling that most families believe their missing family member wouldn't go missing on purpose, and LE must hear that all the time. I'm sure they might check with every young child missing, but not every teen/adult. I think LE goes on the pemise of... if there is no evidence of foul play, force, etc., where do they even start, how much can they spend with no leads, no direction, how many man-hours can they afford to spend when there are so many others with perhaps more clues or more seeming urgency? It's all about that one tip that fuels the investigation to fan out from there, and it seems that in this case, they haven't yet received that one tip. Very sad. MOO.

I don't know if this will help, but this is the Missing Women's Report for Canada. It lays out the protocols and standards along with areas of concern. It is in pdf form. It has some really useful information for the purpose of this forum.

Holy moly I was just reading this! I would agree, it's really helpful in providing some information on what goes on with LE specifically with cases of a missing woman.

Where do y'all suppose the term 'messy divorce' came from in the earlier news reports?

From what I have observed with " messy divorces," is that people fight about the kids, sometimes pets, but splitting up of assets, even an old worn couch, causes huge problems.
Imo, those things represent disappointments/ expectations and feelings, and are sometimes used as an excuse to keep fighting and engaging.

I appreciate what you are saying and I understand completely.

But what I meant by my question is where did the media get the idea that Shannon was in the middle of a messy divorce???

Snipped, from an earlier report:

...Burgess is undergoing a messy divorce...

Wondered if news writer assumed the divorce was messy, since those two words go together so well, or family member suggested that. Have not seen that divorce comment anywhere else.

Good question here. I wish the reporter could respond to this. It feels like this case has hit dead end.

Has anyone managed to find her profile on e-harmony? Maybe it's got a "last online" attribute too..?

That article is dated December 3 & was updated: December 11 obviously the update didn't include the removal of the 'messy divorce' bit...

Also looking back I see Alberta had a major dump of snow from November 26 - 28, tho I'm sure it's already been discussed.

Regardless, it's a heck of a time to decide to walk away from your life.

http://www.theweathernetwork.com/ne...-expecting-snowfall-and-frigid-weather/40762/

So, IF she didn't simply walk away from her life & considering the weather, I can related to leaving her car at home, but not her cell...

What are the chances she slipped somewhere on the ice/snow and just hasn't been found yet? And why aren't we hearing about any searches for THAT reason?

:dunno:
