Weird, I googled "Shannon H Burgess" and filtered results to 'past week'. Her IMDB profile comes up with 1 day ago underneath, as well as another link for IMDB with 6 days ago underneath but the link reads 'IMDb: Least-Recently-Deceased People With Name …' that's pretty creepy and misleading and hopefully not true!!!

When I click the link, she is in a list, so are these actors actually deceased or perhaps I am misunderstanding this….Strange.

Hoping the imdb thing is a matter of jumping the gun, but removal from TPS is disconcerting. imo.

Don't want to interrupt the thread & am 5 pages late but saying thanks for clarifying re: SBs' brakes. Idk where I got the idea they had been cut? There would have likely been traces of brake fluid if they were snipped & it would have to be some kind of magic to end up in the driveway if they were cut also.

And not to nitpick but as someone who has dealt with mental health issues, can I ask that people refrain from using the term "crazy" to describe behaviour associated with a mental illness? Crazy in this regard, imho, should be reserved for psychopaths & extreme cases. Most people with bipolar don't go manic and run across the country in the middle of winter. And if they do, it is more likely to be schizophrenia & not bipolar. I hope that doesn't offend anyone esp since I am new here.

If SB took off on her own, at some point by now wouldn't she be needing money? How could she get around unseen & on cash this whole time? Surely someone somewhere would have seen her? And if she committed suicide, where is her body? If someone randomly killed her, they wouldn't try too hard to conceal her body (obv not leave her in plain sight unless a serial killer) so by now you'd think in that case a body would have been found?

It seems like either she had some kind of plan for going incognito or her ex did something & concealed it or someone else known to/stalking SB has done something & concealed it. On a sidenote regarding depression/mental health, one might also question that theory considering the holidays came & went without a word from SB. Even mentally healthy ppl get emotional during the holidays, but no contact with family? Something is not gelling here.
A manic episode is just that, and running across country is *definitely* not out of the realm of possibilty for someone with bipolar disorder, if I can speak from experience... *especially* during the holidays.

No one, as far as I know, has said she has been diagnosed with anything.

How can she be living on cash? Given she was on a dating site, which everyone has access to worldwide, if she decided to run off and stay with someone who contacted her and promised her the world... then perhaps it's someone else's cards and cash. It also complicates the case if she ran off to meet someone else, and it was Mr. Very Wrong. She could have disappeared and be hidden anywhere...

Shannon also has close ties with a certain comic friend who "jokes" about his diagnosed manic depression and various other comics do as well. I respect trying to be politically correct but we are human and can't always walk on eggshells about correct terminology or are as concerned about tactfulness. Some people are quite educated on the topic and if they choose to enlighten and educate the group that is great. Pointing out others incorrect use of the word "crazy" is in my opinion not the best way to do this. Also maybe whoever uses the word "crazy" is aware of the meaning you described and is using it the correct way. Or maybe it is just a word used in a hypothetical situation.

No way, that's crazy.

Hmm interesting.

Plot for Ascension:

Ascension (2014)
Plot Summary

Showing one plot summary

Soon to be Martial Arts Master, Luna is forced to go on a dangerous journey when her teacher, Sensei Sirius is kidnapped by a vengeful ex-student.
- Written by Anonymous

Does anyone remember if the movie Ascension was listed before on her IMDB profile?

I don't recall seeing it. It looks like it might have just been added or the movie itself was added to IMDB and tagged Shannon as being in it (so automatically appears on her profile maybe?) I'm not sure how IMDB works or if you can just tag actors in movies, I'm thinking doubtful and an actor would have to approve this. I clicked edit on Shannon's profile and you do indeed have to log in and have an account.

When I googled Shannon and filter results to the last week, her IMDB profile pops up first with 1 day ago underneath. So did someone access her account and add this movie? Or maybe the movie was there the whole time and I just don't remember!

What if it has since been discovered that S did in fact have a valid passport and that it is missing?

http://metronews.ca/news/calgary/12...o-family-said-its-not-like-her-to-dissappear/

"They couldn’t find a passport, but are unsure if she has a valid passport."

The sister said that she didn't know if Shannon had a valid passport and none was found at the home that she shared with her husband, but police know the answer to that question. Police have access to the information of whether someone has a passport. If police believed that Shannon had a valid passport, the search should have expanded to international locations.

I forgot to ask in my last reply/post to this... What are your thoughts/theory? Do you think she is still alive? I am curious like you, what the contributors to this thread think as to whether there's foul play involved and if she's alive or in a different province.

If Shannon were alive, she would have come forward, if only to spare her family the pain of not knowing where she is. She is not alive.

There was something in that 10 min presser with the police and family that struck me then about her financial transactions. I mentioned it before. It's the way the officer evades a question, then starts to say something but changes it when pressed about her banking activity. Will have to watch again.

The officer does not evade the question about Shannon's banking. In fact he states that the investigation includes looking in Shannon's banking and that her online presence is of interest to police ... but there had been no activity since the time that her husband reported last seeing her.

Shannon may have come forward and police have not been updated or they have and choose not to update the public. We have no evidence or statement saying that Shannon is dead and so we should keep an open mind and sleuth as many possibilities that we can think of.

I am certain that if Shannon had come forward, police would have surely been updated, and in turn, LE surely would have updated the public, even if such update may simply be a terse statement without giving any other information other than she has contacted, is alive, is safe, case closed. I have seen that done in newspapers often after people have been reported missing, there is no reason to keep the public potentially fearing for their safety, potentially still looking for the missing person, etc. I do however agree that we should keep an open mind and sleuth everything we can. Personally, I don't think she is alive, and if she is, I think she would have to be held captive somewhere without means of communicating. MOO.

I'm confused. If Shannon was alive and well, and 'came forward', why wouldn't the police know about it?

I briefly followed the Hillary Sharma thread here on WS awhile back. She was another young, vivacious woman and aspiring photographer from Ohio who went missing.

The circumstances of her disappearance definitely left open two scenarios - could've been suicide or foul play. Her car was discovered at a park and they searched the park and found her belongings (IIRC her purse hanging from a tree and I her camera). Friends of hers said her she would never do this to her beloved camera and someone must've done this. Supposedly her car wasn't there when park rangers searched one day, but then was there a day after or something like that, so highly suspicious and looked almost to be foul play.

They eventually found her body in the river and she had hung herself from a park tree and the branch broke so she was in the river. So, so sad. So young and seemed so full of life. I tried to find any MSM info after and it went quiet for a long time. Only until way later did MSM finally publish that it wasn't foul play. I truly hope this isn't the situation in Shannon's story :(

Absolutely. The good thing about now requiring passports to fly even into the US, is that these things can be checked out if people happen to go missing. In our post 9/11 world, people don't get to just travel without governments knowing about it any more, and I'm certain LE would have put in an enquiry right away in that regard. We can't even drive across the border any more without specific official documentation which they also track. I think we can therefore rule out that she left the country by any mode of transportation (unless someone had really excellent fake specific official ID (which is likely difficult to obtain) for her to fool them with, which is unlikely).

I am pretty sure that part of the protocol for the MP Unit for CPS is to check flights and border crossings.

I agree, I think LE has an obligation to let the public know. Not like a press conference or anything, but I think they would have to update their websites, and missing persons posters/media etc.

I'm don't think they have the responsibility to keep family secrets (not tell family members she is found if she doesn't want to be). I think they would advise the missing person that they will communicate to the family for them (tell the family she is found but does not want to be contacted by family). I'm just guessing here, not sure that actual protocols, I wonder what they are...

If Shannon did not come forward to police but to a trusted friend or family member and that
person has not informed police then the police wouldn't know.
