I'm with you OutOfTheDarkness, I think the general public believe that LE do a lot more in each case than they actually do. Not saying anything negative, it's just all about money, resources, need and reality. In a case near me, a man went missing and 10 days later his truck was found having been ditched near a train station. By that time, the station had already recorded over their CCTV recordings for the day in question, and so that opportunity was lost. It is likely a different time span for every train station in regard to how long it takes to overwrite previous recordings, but just saying. LE also has to weigh each case as to the possibility that an 'adult' went 'missing' on their own volition. If there are no signs of SB having taken the train/bus/whatever is at the station, I can't see them bothering with it. I have a feeling that most families believe their missing family member wouldn't go missing on purpose, and LE must hear that all the time. I'm sure they might check with every young child missing, but not every teen/adult. I think LE goes on the pemise of... if there is no evidence of foul play, force, etc., where do they even start, how much can they spend with no leads, no direction, how many man-hours can they afford to spend when there are so many others with perhaps more clues or more seeming urgency? It's all about that one tip that fuels the investigation to fan out from there, and it seems that in this case, they haven't yet received that one tip. Very sad. MOO.
