Ok, so it *has* been confirmed in MSM that the last person to 'see' her was JB. (That is if we can believe the 'Sun' newspaper). In the article, I found it interesting that it says in the quoted article (BBM):

The article specifies that JB was last to see her, but that it was the family that found her car parked at her home (even though JB also lived at the same home and in the same article the writer has referred to JB separately), and that they haven't seen any trace of her since 'returning'. ... so therefore, only JB saw her after 'returning'.
I have often suspected that JB's timeline is questionable. He didn't report her missing or alert the family - they alerted him. Something about his story seems 'off' and suspect. MOO.

Hey all, I've been lurking for some time & wanted to join the thread.

Has anyone looked into the incident of the car brakes being cut? Bc as I've read, SB would sometimes walk but had her own vehicle. Someone could have snipped her brakes to ensure she would be on foot or dependent on/ accepting of a ride. The only problem is how did that person get her out of the house? Unless they knew her routines & just waited for the right time. Is that "D" person the same person who made the comment/joke about her brakes via Twitter? Blaming some mythical character from their roleplay? That seems like an odd interaction/thing to say imho. If my brake lines were cut, I'd be freaking paranoid!

With Christmas having passed, I truly hope Shannon left of her own accord and is safe. Her family must be so concerned.

Welcome! Thanks for posting :)

I believe 'D' made the comment on her FB….unless you found it on Twitter then that's a good find as I don't think anyone's posted about that yet.

The brakes were discussed as to how fast brakes 'go' and if she would've noticed them wearing down and it was even suggested maybe someone tampered with the brake fluid. Your idea of someone planning ahead is definitely possible too. If LE looked over the vehicle, I hope they would've seen cut brakes I think, not sure if it's obvious to the eye, if anyone knows this please tell us as I don't know anything about cars. If LE did find tampering with her car, we don't know since they're very quiet right now, we have no idea if there's evidence of anything yet.

Hopefully there will be some news soon, her poor family :(

Totally. If you live with someone whether platonic roommates or estranged spouses, most people know the normal day to days and habits of that person good and bad.

I can't find the 'timeline' that I posted before.. but.. I'm wondering about a different angle now..

Timeline again:

Nov 25th - sometime before midnight (it does not state the time SB posted this, however the first response to her post arrived at 11:58pm Calgary time on November 25th, so it would have had to have been earlier than that) - SB posted about 'her brakes went to *****'

Nov 26th - 2:03am - SB edited the spelling of 'brakes' on her original post above

Nov 26th - 9:15pm - SB is sad that she didn't make it 'back' into Calgary in time for the YukYuk's swap event

Nov 26th - 10:06pm - in response to her LARP friend's post in fun about Aengus being the one to 'curse' SB in regard to her brakes, SB posts that she will forever miss Aengus (I believe that somewhere along the way, I read that Aengus died in battle, so that may be why she will 'forever miss' him)

Nov 27th - 12:30am - 2.5 hrs later, it is the last time she was 'seen', and it was by her 'estranged' husband

SB was apparently in Edmonton during the weekend before her disappearance, according to her sister at the family presser.
We don't know if she then came back home to Calgary, or remained in Edmonton after the weekend.
On Tuesday late at night, SB is writing about her brakes not working. We don't know if that was written by SB while in Edmonton or Calgary.
Then on Wednesday, at 9;15pm, SB is saying she didn't make it back into Calgary in time for YukYuk's swap event.
So one thing is for sure and that is that SB was out of Calgary on Wednesday Nov 26th.
I'm wondering.. what if SB came back to Calgary after the weekend away, and knew she had to be back in Edmonton on the Wednesday.. but found on the Tuesday night that her brakes were shot.. and she was 'cursed'.
Somehow she got back to Edmonton on the Wednesday, and then back home on the Wednesday night..
JB sees her at the home at 12;30am late on the Wednesday night.
I wonder if JB could have/would have gone to Edmonton after work to pick her up in Edmonton, and bring her back to Calgary. If she hitched a ride or took a bus from Calgary to Edmonton in the morning on the Wednesday. Or.. if JB took the day off work on the Wednesday and drove her both to Edmonton and then drove her back home to Calgary in the evening.
Then he may have dropped her off at the matrimonial home, and left to go and be somewhere else.

I have been looking at this all along as if SB was the one who initiated the 'estrangement', but.. what if it were initiated by JB because he wanted to go back to his ex, or found someone new, and then went to stay with that person on and off while still maintaining his share of the home he shared with SB. Could this be why SB's sister said 'she could be in distress'? Could this be why it was 'messy'?

That would explain why JB last saw her at 12;30am on the Thursday, and didn't know she was 'missing' until the Monday when contacted by SB's sister. It would explain why he hadn't been concerned and didn't report anything to anyone.

-Restpectfully snipped by me-

Welcome! Thanks for posting :)

The reports said that there were no indications of foul play, so I guess the brakes were not cut, IMO.

True, but even I was thinking that even if they find indications of foul play I don't think they'd let the public know as a strategic move to not alert a potential suspect.

I think it's their PR protocol to use those words often as they said that in regards to the Catie Miller case early on, Catie's case ended up being a homicide with 3 people arrested 5-6 month later…. I'm hoping this is not the case for Shannon though, but I'm worried how quiet it's been (BBM).

"Police say there is no evidence to suggest foul play, but there is concern for the missing woman’s well-being.

Thanks Lala, that makes sense.
I agree the silence is odd; looking at what her relatives say though (when people offer all sorts of help, like donating money for a reward, perhaps putting up flyers no idea) they keep saying thanks, but there is very little we can do.

Isn't it so that if Shannon is away at this point per her own choice, for whatever reason, that the family cannot do anything? Why else would they say that? They can appeal on tv some more, put up flyers, have a reward for anyone who has info that is helpfull for her safe return, that would not be out of the question I guess?

I am not sure what to think about this case, I do think it is strange that the husband did not got alarmed earlier, in the same time, is it in any way possible (legally) that he was aware of her plan to be away for some time, and him keeping silent about it because her promised her he would? Maybe odd, but wondering if there could be such a possibillity. TIA

Wondering if Shannon was close to this area?

http://www.calgarysun.com/2014/12/2...ought-off-attempted-sex-assault-on-boxing-day

"Police on Monday praised the actions of a woman who fought off a “terrifying” random attempted sexual assault in Brentwood.

On Friday at 6:45 p.m., police say a a woman had left the Brentwood LRT station and was walking towards Brentwood Rd. N.W. when she was grabbed from behind and dragged into an alley at Blakiston Dr."

>>snip>>

"Police are using Calgary Transit surveillance video and other cameras to determine how long the suspect was stalking his victim.

“We’re trying to find out if he was following her and where they did meet up,” said Voros.

Police don’t have a known suspect in mind but do have a description — a Native man, 35-40 years old who’s 6-feet tall with a heavy build".

That was in the NW and SB went missing in the SE.

There was a high risk offender recently released that certainly fits the description of the latest crime.

What would this suspect have done to the woman once he was finished assaulting her? Would she have survived? Would he dump her in a garbage bin or drag her to a dark place for her to be found sometime later? If he was travelling by using the C-Train he would have been limited for places to conceal her. If he does rely on the transit system it is possible he could be exploring other neighborhoods. If he is a repeat offender or newly released he could be staying at a half-way house or earlier on he could have been at a shelter closer to the downtown area and rivers edge. Brentwood is fairly close to Ramsey. I could see this being a connection worth pursuing, that is if LE doesn't already have a suspect and motive for Shannon.

Brentwood is pretty far from Ramsay:

It is listed as a twenty minute drive - much, much further on transit.

I know it seems far but it can be much quicker by car especially in the evening. By car I would take 14th street to 24th and connect to Crowchild. Or even take 10th street thru to Charleswood and come out by the Brentwood mall. One can catch a train at the stadium for park and ride (I used to do this when I worked downtown).

The perp could be very transient and is working his way thru the city. Banff Trail has some motels and such for affordable accommodation and attracts many questionable souls.

Here is the description of the suspect involved in the Brentwood assault:
Police have spoken to the woman and are now releasing more information on the suspect.

He is described as:
Aboriginal male
About 35 to 40 years old
183 cm or 6’ tall
Heavy build
Pock-marked face
Medium-length, black, stringy hair
Was wearing a dark-coloured jacket, a dark-coloured hoodie pulled over his head and dark pants

He does fit the description of the newly released high-risk sex offender. IIRC the notification of his release to the public was made in early December. Surely the public warnings are issued prior to the offender's release and not after and if so he wouldn't be a suspect in Shannon's disappearance.

Clearly this government database is out of date as well the CPS links are not working... That is disappointing!

Here is the newest offender and that public notice was made December 5. However he was already released from custody in Winnipeg and had moved to Calgary. I do not see details of the exact day of his arrival. His description is very similar to the Brentwood assault.

Do we know for sure what the husbands job is? Does he sell old office equip or is he involved in old building demolition or what ? If he has 'official ' access to old abandoned buildings he could come and go at all hours of the day or night. Just thinking out loud.

I think his reference to " taking down old buildings" on Cupid is a stretch to what his job actually is which is selling off old office equipment that is no longer needed, possibly the stuff is sold off as the old buildings are shut down or starting over. That is if that LinkedIn profile is his.

Good point. I wonder if there is some storage/warehouse facility he accesses or his company uses, as well as closed offices or buildings. I am going by his LinkedIn profile (if that is in fact his) and I have seen advertisements where he is listing the office equipment and it goes back to the company he works for.

Definitely good point is right! As Lois said, hard to tell if we found the *right* JB or not….I think your observation is something for us to think about.

Considering that this was posted Dec 18, quite some time after Shannon disappeared, and the search at FC park concluded that the odd pictures found there, were unrelated to the case, it is interesting to note, that LE maintain this position.. imo.

Here is a video talking about the surveilance at the LRT station.

Another attack on a woman Nov. 9 was in Bridgeland.

This is a strange upload by Global, but it does show the area in Bridgeland. FWIW.
