An interesting take on the situation. Cps seemed to pass this one on to Vancouver and Toronto. With the warm weather, why are they not searching the riverbank, alleys, and dumpsters in her area? Has this happened?

That article is dated December 3, 2014 & was Updated: December 11, 2014, obviously the update didn't include the removal of the 'messy divorce' bit...

Also looking back I see Alberta had a major dump of snow from November 26 - 28, tho I'm sure it's already been discussed.

Regardless, it's a heck of a time to decide to walk away from your life.

http://www.theweathernetwork.com/ne...-expecting-snowfall-and-frigid-weather/40762/

So, IF she didn't simply walk away from her life & considering the weather, I can related to leaving her car at home, but not her cell...

What are the chances she slipped somewhere on the ice/snow and just hasn't been found yet? And why aren't we hearing about any searches for THAT reason?

:dunno:

Near the beginning of this thread it was mentioned the family searched the area, and if I recall stan laurel was going to dress in his hot pink spandex and case the area?? *smile* MOO!

And who is this Jb? Is he a decendant of nobility or powerful people? There have been cases where the police have looked the other way when the children of those with money and power commit crimes. They can also "find a perpetrator" in some cases! Not sure if Jb has some blue blood and perhaps was slumming with Sb. Does anyone have any info?? Might explain alot.

Good question!

I did notice someone who shared the same surname as JB who commented under a news story about Shannon being missing and they said something like you can't help those that don't want to be found.

I will see if I can find it again. eta: ive looked & realize the chances of me finding it are slim to none but if i happen upon it i will definately post the link.

The police were a little too quick to clear him for my comfort level. If you do some very careful research you can find cases of sons of senators for example who have raped and killed women...only to be cleared...and others of lower fortune framed!

We assume they are making investigative decisions based on good information. Not always the case.... Sometimes politics can be involved. If word travels down the chain of command that Jb is not a suspect, the investigation will focus in other directions while Jb walks free.

Also what is the status of her residence now. Who lives there? Is it a crime/protected scene. Or has everything disappeared... Like Shannon.

MOO, I have a feeling Jb isn't waiting at his kitchen table or placing yellow ribbons around the old oak trees waiting for her return. Maybe he is vacationing in the Caribbean or unwinding at his family's estate. It would be some interesting sleuthing to see what can be uncovered.

Moo, but something is rotten in the the Ramsey Hills!

I have not seen any report stating that the husband has been in fact, cleared. All the reports state is that foul play is not suspected. In a parallel case - Lisa Mitchell, LE stated the exact same thing - Foul play is not suspected and she could be in another city. They subsequently found her remains in her home and her husband has been charged with first degree homicide. It took close to two years but again, we don't know all the details.

It is very possible that LE are looking at him very carefully. When there is no body, no crime scene, no lawful reason for a warrant and the husband has been completely cooperative, they cannot start a campaign of malicious prosecution. Whether he is a suspect or not, he still has rights.

I am not saying he shouldn't be suspected - quite the contrary... LE is well aware that the majority of crimes committed in these types off scenarios are done by a spouse. They just have to be very careful.

His LinkedIn profile gives no indication that he has any "powerful" connections and his family name is not synonymous with any of the Calgary well-to-do. His job and where he lives offers no indication that he is anything but... average, for lack of a better word.

I can state as one who does have those types of connections and family in the CPS, that it has never been much of a benefit. If anything, they bend over backwards to ensure that they don't make special accommodations. I remember when a former Chief's son was arrested for selling drugs - He was put through the system pretty hard.

Thank you...great info. Let's hope Jb was not involved. Unfortunately either way, it doesnt appear Shannon is going to be located anytime soon. I hope she found her mr right and is on some tropical island taking some time to sort things out, or in Toronto or Vancouver building her acting career.

She may be impulsive...but no phone, no money, minimal possessions...she's a hell of a lot braver than me!

Guess we'll all have to wait and see how it resolves...if it does

I don't know if this will help, but this is the Missing Women's Report for Canada. It lays out the protocols and standards along with areas of concern. It is in pdf form. It has some really useful information for the purpose of this forum.

POLICIES AND PRACTICES IN THE INVESTIGATION OF MISSING PERSONS AND SUSPECTED MULTIPLE HOMICIDES

http://www.google.ca/url?sa=t&sourc...=HdEES_bqTMh4ccGepX5Iqw&bvm=bv.83640239,d.aWw

The intro at the link says that within ONE WEEK the vast majority of the missing are found or return home.

In light of that, and following along with the P&P, where do you suppose Shannon's Missing Person case stands today ??? Is she one of those Long Term Missing Persons (now missing more than 30 days)...page 18 f) or no? If no, why not ???

:dunno:

I normally look for which MSM is writing the article, where it originates from.. and if it comes originally from a paper that is known to be more tabloid-ish, I take such things with a grain of salt. In this case however, it is Metro News, and I don't believe they are affiliated with Sun, are they? Please correct me if I am mistaken. So if Metro is the only paper (I can only find it in there, unless... does someone know anywhere else where it appears not just as a 'metro news reports that.. '), then where did they get that tidbit?

And if we look at the paragraph in its entirety, which states the quote below, it creates 2 questions. If the reporter was interviewing SB's sister, he/she reports that EM says 'SB may be in distress', then why not also attribute that other aspect (ie 'messy divorce') to EM as well? If it was NOT EM that gave that impression of a messy divorce, then who was it, why not put his/her name in there as well? Did EM not want her name affiliated with making that comment on the divorce? Was it someone else who asked for complete anonymity? And why would EM say that SB may be in distress? But yet, the same EM would have us believe JB isn't worth even looking into as a suspect (at least that is the impression I have received from things she has been quoted as saying). From some of her comments made, such as on her FB, it sounds as if she finds all of the sleuthing distasteful and unhelpful.. and yet.. where to begin?

Have to begin *some*where, right? And that seems to be the most obvious place for various reasons. (imho it is usually the spouse that ends up being the perp.. he was the last one to see her, which is also apparently a clue, based on history, and she was last seen in her own home, which has also been a clue in other cases, a home which just happens to be shared by the same individual.

To me, there must be some awfully good reason why LE and family do not suspect her estranged husband. I agree that I don't think it has anything to do with who he knows, or wealth, or family, it seems just too difficult nowadays to get away with that kind of favoritism. There has got to be SOME good reason though, I wonder what it is?

Perhaps it bothers just a handful of us, and not really LE, since they are likely inundated with missing people and cases requiring their attention. If there is no sign of anything untoward in this case, no clues on where to begin, then where to begin and how many resources to expend on this case?

"She skipped her weekend rehearsals and engagements, and was last seen in her Inglewood apartment on Wednesday. Burgess is undergoing a messy divorce, and her sister Erin Madill said Burgess may be in distress."

I appreciate what you are saying and I understand completely.

But what I meant by my question is where did the media get the idea that Shannon was in the middle of a messy divorce???

I was remembering tonight about the missing Justin Rhodes (McKinnon-Blomme?).. so looked him up, and there is a 'help find Justin' FB page set up which remains active. Link below. The family makes up posters and asks for support in getting them posted. The family is now offering a $10,000 reward for info leading to his whereabouts and safe return. It is a large contrast to what is happening in SB's case, where the family have not uttered a word in ages, and there seems to be no support page to help.
https://www.facebook.com/findjustinrhodes

Earlier one search led to another, and I guess it was on the FB page for missing Canadians, someone asked the question of whether they informed the public when a missing person had been located. Someone responded that there is yet another FB page for 'found' Canadians. Both of these links are below.
The interesting part....... is that when I went to the 'Found' FB page, there was a report on there that someone is deemed to have been found because they were no longer listed on the RCMP's missing persons website.
So I went to THAT website, and looked for SB, and could not find her there. I could however, find Justin (above), even though he has been missing 2 months longer than SB.
So what is this saying? Anything? What does it take to get posted on the RCMP's missing person's website? Why would every missing Canadian not be on that website? Is it up to family to ask? Or what?

Ryan LESAGE, 31. ‪#‎Missing‬ from ‪#‎WestShore‬, ‪#‎BC‬ since 01/14/15 is no longer listed on RCMP Website - Presumed Found.

Article regarding RCMP's launching of the missing person's website:

The RCMP website is located here: http://www.canadasmissing.ca/index-eng.htm

If you go there, there is a search button at the top somewhere, and you can doube-check to see if SB is there. If you find her, please let me know, but I could not find her there. How weird is that?

ETA: Ok nevermind. It appears the RCMP website for missing persons has serious issues. They must have missed posting hundreds of people on there. U S E L E S S

Comments posted today from CPS FB page...

User Question:
Is Shannon Burgess still missing?

CPS Answer:
Yes, unfortunately she is still missing.

FB User #2:
Is there any update on the search that you could provide CPS? I don't think we have heard anything since the photos in Fish Creek park and that was almost a month ago. Has there been any news?

CPS Answer:
As with these investigations, there are always things happening behind the scenes and when/if an important update is required, we will release via all information channels.

The silence indicates a possible investigation. I think they will solve this mystery. I doubt Shannon is still alive.

Thanks for this update Lois, it's the most we've heard 'officially' for awhile. Something is definitely happening on the down low with LE IMHO.

I sure hope LE has this covered and can offer some sort of conclusion in the near future. It confuses me that investigators would need more time to make an arrest if foul play is suspected. What do they still need to fit together?

I am also curious if this was at all related to the Bridgeland sexual assault (we have yet to hear an update about the victim if they recovered or if they have a suspect) and if it is related would the public have a need/right to know that women could be at risk and a suspect is at large?

Or is this an isolated event?

I have a hard time accepting that she would have left on her own and has yet to contact a friend or family member. Could she have a friend that wouldn't know that there is a missing person's investigation in the works? If a friend or family member has had contact with Shannon and is aware of the police involvement are they legally required to inform Police or can they legally keep quiet?

I have been following from the sidelines. Originally joined for the Nathan O'brien case and followed closely the Luka Magnotta case. This one hits closer to home as I know someone in the family. It's been eerily quiet for some time now. No updates anywhere no information at all. I wish they could all get some answers. As for if they suspected foul play why have they not said anything yet. CPS likes to keep their cards super close till they are 100% ready to make an arrest. In one case they recently arrested a man who's wife went missing 2 years earlier. Another case a guy I went to school with was stabbed to death at a bar and that also took 2 years before they arrested the guy. I think about Shannon daily, it has an eerie feeling to it though.

glad that you joined WS

Your insights will be valuable, and am sorry for the reason you are here. It's tough when a case hits close to home through associations we have.

Welcome to Ws debsy99, thanks for joining this thread!
Yes, this missing person case, does imo. have an eerie element to it.
Do you think there is any chance that Shannon did have some legitimate connection to either Toronto or Vancouver?
