If you are referring to CM, wife of TM, she is friends with SB on FB.

Has anyone else come across the friend who stayed with SB and JB at their home for two weeks in the late July early August for Fringe?
Initials RL.

I'll look that friend up...

But, about CM, I can't see SB on her friends list... Or maybe I'm going blind..?! lol

Lois, I see who you're talking about... But all I can see is that he was there at least once in August.

Yeah he was their billett and stayed with them for two weeks while working at the Fringe Festival. I imagine those two weeks were full of fun and excitement for everyone involved. (Shannon had a busy schedule for Fringe as well)

If the couple was supposedly going thru a messy divorce it was either put on hold in honor of the Fringe or it progressed afterwards.

I may not make sense tonight... my brain is mush.

Oh! I see what you mean. You're making sense, don't worry :D

Maybe the messy divorce thing started some time after that. Or it wasn't really a messy one... About it being put on hold in honor of the Fringe, who knows. If things weren't that bad early August, then things must have worsened after the Fringe.

Also, there are pictures posted on her timeline that date back to August 29, 2014, when she stayed at some hotel with JB. Would they really travel together if things were that bad?

It doesn't seem like RL shared anything about SB's disappearance... Not that it really makes us learn anything but I wonder how people can just read about a friend or an acquintance who went missing and not even repost the link.

**DISCLAIMER - I do not think I have found Shannon... just wanted to share a story.

on the 19th of this month my mother and i went out for supper at a popular restaurant, and i swear to god, when we walked into the establishment the lounge server was talking to the hostess and she (the lounge girl) was a total doppelganger for shannon. i was freaking out and when we got to our table i quickly brought up shannon's photo on my phone to show the comparison to my mom, but we didn't really see her up close like that again. i saw her again from about 15 feet away and was trying to figure out ways to take her photo! she did eventually stop at the table ahead to deliver a drink and i was able to see her profile, i got a closer look and figured it wasnt her. she had red hair, the same look, but had a cleft in her chin, seemed much thinner, younger and her nose was bigger from the side than that picture i have seen of shannon and beowoof. i am going to go back to the lounge and see this girl again. i want to talk to her face to face (small talk as she serves us, not anything about shannon or her resemblance). pretty crazy eh? i'm 99.9% sure i'm wrong but i have to go back just to get rid of that .1% that won't leave my head. the resemblence is super eerie though i must say - my mother also kinda got weirded out by it. i'd love to get a picture of this girl just to show people the similarity so they didn't think i was crazy, but would never post a stranger's photo.

i live 6 hours from calgary. there has been zero publicity about shannon missing where i live.

i'd like to find out what the most popular theory is on her disappearance.

1. stranger abduction (went to 7-11 for a coffee after midnight eg, was picked up by a stranger/unknown stalker involuntary)
2. non stranger abduction (met up with a friend/aquaintance/possible online date/known stalker) held hostage, may be alive or passed.
3. domestic dispute out of hand (ex husband and shannon fought, she was accidentally or purposefully killed, body hidden)
4. suicide (impending divorce, financially strapped seeing no way out, depression, eating disorder, etc etc)
5. "unplugged" "gone girl" (saved cash from tips etc, took off with or without help to make a new start)
6. same as above but ran into a bad situation, someone who offered to take her in turned on her and something bad happened

Interesting! I wonder if the restaraunt has a social media page. If so, maybe the hostess will be listed somewhere. Six hours from Calgary? Are we still talking Alberta?

I am all over the place in what I think happened to Shannon. I think either husband, suicide, or Gone Girl.

I was thinking he didn't bother reposting the link because he lives in the States. I also think that since he was a billett and stayed with them for two whole weeks he may have made some observations in regards to the couple. I think that Shannon and her husband were very excited to have him stay and may have looked up to him as a role model of sorts. Maybe they were even intimate.

i live in saskatoon, SK.

i checked out the restaurant's facebook, it's 'liked' by a lot of people, shows no friends, looked thru pix, nothing there. i know it's not her, but it was still an experience at first when i got there. i wonder if i'm the only person in this bloody city who even knows about this missing lady (not counting the people i've told).

i've been lurking on this thread and conjuring up ideas in my head, this is just my opinion, i can't say any of this is true or could have happened because we have been given SOOO little info.

1. stranger abduction (went to 7-11 for a coffee after midnight eg, was picked up by a stranger/unknown stalker involuntary)

if she left the house that night/early morning without the phone, i'm thinking the phone was left to be charged because she was in edmonton all day and probably drained her battery. i remember seeing her post on facebook a while ago about getting a free coffee from 7-11 at around 2am, as well as jogging in the rain while it was dark, so i don't think she's afraid to be out at night in her neighbourhood (plus the end of november it starts getting dark around 5). in the beginning i really noticed a lot of sleuthing pertaining to a stranger abduction, the seedy areas she'd have to walk thru to go to lolita's bar, etc etc. plus this new girl found dead in the general vicinity of SE calgary. if she were killed though, wouldn't they have found her body by now? do serial killers change their M.O. when it comes to disposing of a body? *assuming it was the same perpetrator.
2. non stranger abduction (met up with a friend/aquaintance/possible online date/known stalker) held hostage, may be alive or passed.

i think if she was kidnapped or abducted by someone she knew, she probably would have been texting or sending messages online to meet them. the police would probably see messages left on the online dating sites for a meetup, or txts on her phone. this could be a strong possibility because i seriously doubt the police would tell the public 'yeah she was making plans to meet up with someone, we saw the texts' that would be pretty obvious and tip off the person that the LE were on to them.
3. domestic dispute out of hand (ex husband and shannon fought, she was accidentally or purposefully killed, body hidden)

what reason would a person who might be guilty of hurting her at home not put her phone with her body? maybe because it would ping and lead the cops to where she was and how she got there as in a quick trip from the house to a field somewhere? perhaps they don't know about batteries being taken out or think that it might not matter - better to be safe than sorry. the person would have possibly had quite a few days to clean up the crime scene, especially if she was choked for instance. no blood... just clean up any signs of struggle. clean under those fingernails good and find a spot somewhere so desolate that by the time someone accidentally comes across her (eg a farmers field), she'll be decomposed and a lot of evidence will be gone.
4. suicide (impending divorce, financially strapped seeing no way out, depression, eating disorder, etc etc)

i don't know what the river is like in calgary regarding if you jump in it and how far your body will go, if it's frozen over right now and melting, what the current is. we've had people go missing in the south sask river where i live, in the winter it's taken them up to 4 months to be found, usually quite a ways downstream. that's kind of the only explanation i can think of for suicide with a missing body, is bridge jumping. she could have gone downstream a bit in the amount of time she was last seen to when she was reported missing. but then again i'm not sure if the river is shallow in many spots and she would wash up... maybe some calgarians can comment on this, what i've seen of the river, it's much shallower than the south sask.

thinking about having to move because of a divorce if you aren't making lots of money can be extremely stressful. i'm going through this right now, i was ill for a long time and on disability. rent here starts around 900 dollars for a 1 bedroom and my allowance for that is 459.00 based on the fact i'm alone. sometimes i feel as though i can see no way out. she had a dream and perhaps things weren't going as fast as she wanted and a job would interfere with her dream, but she needed money pretty bad. growing up and realizing maybe you can't really 'quit your day job' can be devastating.

5. "unplugged" "gone girl" (saved cash from tips etc, took off with or without help to make a new start)

things would have to have been super bad to either disappear because you want to take a break from your family and friends with no contact for so long, or pull a gone girl for drama. and if you are going for the drama i think it would be because of a mental break. i mean you are hurting your family and those who care about you for attention, no conscience doing something like that, or not in your right state of mind. if you did something that might cause your family to tell you that you aren't in trouble, you might be very ashamed no matter what you are told. it could be a trick.
6. same as above but ran into a bad situation, someone who offered to take her in turned on her and something bad happened

offered a part in another city or province, kept it secret from people because she was asked to, or it was something she knew her friends and family would be against her doing, getting involved in activities that were shady.

i wonder how shot her brakes really were. maybe they just started squeaking and the car was still drivable but you know, sometimes you are broke and know things still work but need to be fixed soon, so you drive because you don't think it's overly serious. of course we will never know these fine details, and honestly i'm suprised we have gotten this far brainstorming with what little information we've been privy too. nobody is talking it seems, doesn't it?

Great observations! Hope to hear how your second visit goes.

My theory is either:

1. Foul play either domestic or by someone she knows
2. Accidental, I only think accident if there was alcohol involved that night, which we don't know. I thought if she was intoxicated, stormed off, walked for awhile and possibly slipped or if there's any places by the train tracks, body of water where something could have happened.

ooh i didn't think of accidental. if she's unfortunately not of this earth anymore and not intentionally hidden, she could still be in the city in some bush or somewhere just crazy that no one would think to look.

I'm thinking:

2- non stranger abduction
3- domestic dispute or something family-related
6- ''Gone Girl'' gone wrong

Did you go back to see the waitress? I imagine how the 1% of doubt must be ''bothering'' you. (Sorry for the strange expression here but I'm very tired and my brain doesn't seem to process the English language too well right now :sigh: :blushing: )

Thanks for posting your ideas about the case. It's always nice to read new opinions as it give us new things to think about.

You make a very good point here, although he seems to have Canadian Facebook buddies, possibly because of The Fringe.

And it's also true that he probably had a sneek peak of what the dynamics were like between Shannon and JB around that time. If the couple was fighting often, or if something was really off, he must've noticed it at some point during those two weeks.

While watching the presser, did anyone feel like Shannon's sister looked very hyper for what she was doing there? I don't really know how to explain how I felt when I watched it but, to me, it almost felt like she was kind of ''too much'' and ''not enough'' at the same time. I didn't see pain, fear or concern on her face. But maybe it was all due to stress.

Just to be clear, I'm not accusing her sister of any wrong doing. I just think that the lack of concern/worries from her family must be explained by something.

- Were her family members instructed not to speak to the media, post anything on Facebook, and do anything but wait for them to catch a suspect?

- Was there a history with Shannon that makes her family think that she went away on her own will?

- Do they just lack the motivation to do anything in order to gain support from the public?

- Or is it that, for some reason, they don't care enough about her to speak up and ask for answers and help?

I've recently joined a couple of Facebook Missing People's Pages and I must say that there is a huge difference between how other people react to their spouse/daughter/son's disappearance and this case. Although, when you take into consideration the number of people going missing and how very few of them ''benefit'' from actual coverage (media or just social awareness).

Someone must know something, somewhere. Even if this is a Gone Girl thing, I doubt that no one would have a clue where she could be. They said that she could be in Vancouver or Toronto but there was no follow-up on that. Did they even look for her there? Did they even look for her close to where she lived and used to go often? Why did they suspect that she could be in either one of these cities? Did she express the desire to move there, did she have job offers pending there, did she have close friends who lived there?

Or did someone gave that idea to LE in order to make them look away from her immediate surroundings where something would've happened to her?

I wonder how many officers have worked on this case and if there is even an active investigation going on. I doubt it. It's sad to think that someone goes missing and people just sit and wait. I really, really hope this isn't the case and that the silence is due to LE's investigation.

I know this is a load of questions but I just needed to get them off my chest.

i'm going back to see the waitress same time same day as i did before, this coming week (wednesday afternoon). i'm gonna show my brother all of shannon's pix and take him with me.

i thought shannon's sister looked like she was nervous to be talking during the presser. she was very polite and gentle, but had a look of a deer caught in the headlights. not sure if she's involved in the arts too (acting etc) she seemed to have a bit of 'stagefright'.

The Greater Vancouver Area has a population of over 2 million people...

The Greater Toronto Area has a population of over 6 million people...

Toronto is over 7000 square kilometers, Vancouver is over 2800 square kilometers... London England is approximately 1500 square kilometers in comparison.

The cold hard facts are that SB's disappearance was nothing more than a news blip in those cities, and for the few that actually saw it, they wouldn't recognize her 2 days later. If she colored her hair and put on 20 pounds, she could walk past any of us daily in our respective downtowns, and we wouldn't have a clue. Even if we did think for a moment someone could be her... like some on here... would we report it?

Willful disappearance is astonishingly easy. Pay as you go phones, or Fongo numbers in Canada... work for cash... has anyone watched those border security shows and notice how many Canadian employers are willing to pay foreigners in cash, or for room and board... and escorts in both cities are big business, a good percentage of which, is without record keeping.

Google sugar daddy dating and read the testimonials on those sites, view the profiles and what they are looking for... mindboggling...

...and mindbogglingly easy for a young, attractive, naive woman to up and leave on a whim, and stay hidden.

Personally, I keep going back to the words "I will forever miss the man" in the Facebook post the night she was reportedly last seen...

One more glaring FYI... the CPS press conference currently has measly 1543 views on YouTube, many of which are repeat sleuths.

Interesting choice of monologue... although it is specifically referenced in a book called "How To Audition" by Gordon Hunt.

Is it me, or is the last line delivered with a flicker of real emotion...
