Canada - Six dead in shootings at Mosque in Quebec City, 29 Jan 2017

I don't believe for a minute that Bissonette was the only one involved in this. Something else is going on here.
The tragedy remains that 6 innocent people were taken viciously from this earth and my heart goes out to their families and friends.
I hope that the RCMP and CSIS are also involved in the investigation because I have very little faith in the Surete du Quebec and the SPVQ/SPVM. There needs to be some major overseeing of this investigation going on. I live in Quebec and have always said that if anything ever happened to me you guys on Websleuths would be on it before the cops here even had a clue.

Is that an American flag hanging behind his door?

I don't think that's an American flag and I'm not following what the signicance of an American flag would be anyway.

Sorry for the weird quoting here, but NYT doesn't make copying and pasting easy:

"The man who was held, Alexandre Bissonnette, had a history of provocative views and antisocial behavior, according to a report in the Quebec newspaper La Presse....Mr. Bissonette had made harassing comments against members of an online chat room.....Mr. Bissonnette had made remarks critical of feminists and foreigners, and that he had expressed sympathies online with the National Front, the far-right political party in France.....The article quotes classmates of Mr. Bissonnette as saying that he had been bullied and taunted at school, and was known for making insulting and offensive remarks."

SOLE SUSPECT OF THE QUEBEC MOSQUE SHOOTING DESCRIBED AS 'LONER' AND ANTI-FEMINIST 'TROLL'

"His online life was full of hate, but in real life he was calm and his chess game was on point"

Business Insider

The sole suspect of the shooting at a Quebec City mosque on Sunday night that left six dead was described as a “loner,” and a “troll,” by people familiar with the suspect’s Facebook posts, Le Soleil, a Quebec City daily, reports.

The suspect, 27-year-old Alexandre Bisonnette, was apprehended by police on Monday morning.

Law enforcement sources confirmed to NBC on Monday afternoon that Bissonnette is the sole suspect in the shooting, though police initially apprehended two suspects. The second person apprehended by police is now considered a witness, and not a suspect.

Bissonnette studies political science at the University of Laval, a French-language university in Quebec City, according to Le Soleil.

“He was practically in all my classes. He’s a loner,” a Laval student told the newspaper. “He doesn’t really have any friends.”

Francois Deschamps, a member of Bienvenue aux Réfugiés, an organization that works with refugees and immigrants in Quebec City, told Le Soleil he “jumped” when he saw the photo the newspaper published of Bisonnette on Monday.

Deschamps said that Bissonnette frequently trolled the organization’s Facebook page, posting comments attacking women’s rights and refugee rights. Deschamps further said that his organization often watches what the “extreme right” are posting on social media.

I feel badly for the witness who was named as a shooter.

Also hoping for his sake, that the suspect's brother is not an identical twin!
http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/montreal/quebec-city-mosque-attack-alexandre-bissonnette-1.3958559
A woman who identified herself as a neighbour of Bissonnette's parents in Cap-Rouge said the suspect had recently moved into an apartment that he was renting with his twin brother, not far from the mosque where the shooting occurred.

This was always about hate. Too bad people here had to think it was about Muslim against Muslim. He probably did the pig head thing, set fires, etc. This vile human can burn in hell.

Muslims hate Muslims, too bad some people here seem unaware of that.

True, but in this particular case, it wasn't a Muslim shooting at other Muslims.

Well, it is likely a towel as other posters mentioned, but the significance would be "Why in the world does a French Canadian kid have an American flag in his room?"

It would be very odd.

Thank you. I am truly ashamed about this and that someone was wrongly identified in the press and then ripped apart on social media.

As if there hasn't been enough confusion already .... :waitasec: :waitasec:

Maybe it's Evil Twin and Nice Twin. Hope they got the right one.

(Sorry to be goofy....sometimes just need a laugh.)

Considering that the police had arrested an individual named "Mohammed" in connection with the attack and that religous based Moslem on Moslem violence is common in many parts of the world, those thoughts were not exactly baseless.

Did not even think of that!
Meant identical appearance- it might freak people out.
imo, speculation.

If this guy truly is a "lone wolf" it will be very interesting to find out where he obtained the weapons. IMO the only way to get your hands on an AK-47 in Canada is through a connection with organized crime.
Unless he was able to purchase it online somehow??

Definitely not baseless I agree, but jumping the gun a bit, 100%

Or, purchased it in the United States, then smuggled it back to Canada? I think private gun sales in the USA do not need to involve back ground checks where US ID would be asked for.

Or, he stole them. That's kinda what I'm thinking, though IDK.
