OMG!! Well he couldn't have been more daring unless he committed a crime inside the OPP building!

Maybe that is where he came from.

Never know.

Good point!

You know, now I'm thinking that LE are using the media to talk to this guy. I believe that LE is trying to draw him out by releasing whatever they think will disturb him enough to cause him to mess up.

I don't want to blow it - but I have this gut feeling that he's the Sonia guy!

Time to go get him.......

The OPP headquarters in Orillia is where new officers do part of their training before they get hired.

There is also Camp Borden, A canadian forces base which has about 5,000 soldiers and civillians working there and it is only about an hours drive to Orillia, and 1/2 hour to Orangeville.

Well, the area certainly seems to be crawling with men! So....

"There's no linkage in any of these cases," Det. Norm Meech said.

April Dobson, 40, was shot to death Oct. 14, 2005, on Browning Trail in the city's Letitia Heights neighbourhood. Her killer has never been caught.

The skeletal remains of Alexandra Flanagan, 33, were found Oct. 4 in a south-end city park. Her death is being treated as "suspected foul play" until a cause of death is determined"

"Katherine Janeiro, 20, was found stabbed to death in her Dunlop Street West apartment on Oct. 10, 1994. Her killer has never been caught"

For Barrie police, October is traditionally one of its busiest months when it comes to murder.

"October seems to be a common month to be involved with major crimes, like homicides," Sgt. Dave Goodbrand said.

Today it was on the major TV news shows (CP24, CTV) that OPP think there's a link between the Orillia attack and Sonia. So, it looks like LE want this perp to get befuddled and perhaps mess up/spill the beans/etc.

You'd wonder why they aren't issuing a public safety warning. shades of RW all over again.

I hope this pic doesn't blow the margins and tell me if it does. I think this is where the attacker ran and the direction is in red. This is from the sidewalk seen in the background in the video and the signpost and the pile of dirt/refuse near the end of the fence. It is at the motel and this gives the direction as going south-west on Neywash. JMO Also, you can see where the two corner parking spaces meet up, making a squared off corner with the parking lines.

OK, I put it as an attachment instead of an inserted image.

And it does appear to me as if the man is slowing down at the fence.

Yep Matou, that is what Wondergirl, Sillybilly and myself were talking about yesterday. Here are some snippets

post # - 462
Okay, I totally take back my post upthread, lol. Upon further review of all the businesses, on Google Streetview, I think the video was indeed taken on the side of the Motel, or from the Metro but zoomed in on the Motel, and that's why the video is so grainy.

The signs/air units on the side of the building, are shown in the video. The little patch of green grass has a No Parking sign directly in front of it, streetside. You can see this in the video.

You can also see the little "T" leading from the parking lot to the street, to the right of where the perp is running in the video. It appears that it may be an actual vehicle entrance, but you can't tell from the video, and that wouldn't make sense anyway, since the parking lot lines indicate parking at the "T".

The video is definitely showing the perp running from behind the Metro, by the Motel, towards the intersection of Neywash and Laclie St.'s., IMO.

Just a couple of thoughts / observations:
Turning so distinctly left at the front corner of the motel would then put him either veering back left onto Front Street (where he would have been very obvious running in front of the empty mall and parking lot at that time of the night), OR possibly running straight up Neywash, which looks primarily residential. If he veered onto Front St at all, i doubt it was more than a few feet, otherwise he didn't have to run up the side of the motel at all, he could have simply run from the back corner of the Metro towards Front, without going past the motel onto Neywash. If he did veer off Neywash onto Front at all, he may have run into the lane/lot behind the Remax building at the corner of Neywash and Front.

That's it Wondergirl! You nailed it! :) He does seem to slow down once he reaches Neywash St., and doesn't seem to me that he continued onto Laclie St. I so hope other business in that area (Master Lube, the Motel, etc.) have surveillance cameras and have also 'captured' images of him.

Thanks Hazel, xoxo I wasn't sure and got confused because I asked if the man was running in the direction of Camp Couchiching and I was told it wasn't in the same direction.

Now I am confused, lol, which is not hard to do.

The man was NOT running in the direction of CC, unless, I am totally looking at the map wrong.

Do you think he was, Matou?

I think the Tim H.'s beside the CC would more likely be a spot that the perp possibly hung out, seen SV, as he knows the area well.

I am just not getting the connection between this young assault perp and CC.....I could see the connection between CC and SV's perp, though.

Nevertheless, this recent attack definitely seems like it could be related.

When I go into street view of the screenshot I took, the little screen with the yellow "street man" icon moves in the direction of S-W when I move the man in the direction that the attacker was running.

... I am just not getting the connection between this young assault perp and CC.....I could see the connection between CC and SV's perp, though ...

Could be no connection at all Wondergirl, but IF SV met her perp in Orillia through her affiliation with Camp Couchiching, and the viciousness of both attacks and possibly other similarities are so noteworthy, then SV's perp could be one and the same resident of Orillia who has attacked this most recent victim.

I used to go horseback riding in around Bolton in my former Ontario glory days ;). Caledon/Bolton/Orangeville ... very very horsey area. Sonia was the nurse at Camp Couchiching in Orillia. She could have made an acquaintance with someone who lived there and was on staff at Camp Couchiching in prior years, but who spent the summer of 2010 in the Bolton/Orangeville area, possibly leadership camp, or therapeutic horse camps for disabled or developmentally handicapped kids. Can't help but think of SV's car being abandoned outside the GH equestrian supply store.

Dude may still live in Orillia but work at different summer camps in different years. It is certainly not unheard of to have camp counsellors involved in sexual assaults. Given the dates of the attacks, it might be the perp's outlet / winding up of summer after spending time being such a good role model with the kiddies. (I could go on with my story of the hydro meter man who was caught peeping in windows ... because he was getting married in a couple of weeks ... but will save that for another time.) Yep, it's a jungle out there honey !!

"The woman was walking by the loading docks behind the store around 2 a.m. when she was attacked and assaulted, the OPP said in a release last Wednesday.

Officers said it was a daring, brutal attack during which the victim could have died.

"It was a violent assault," one cop said. "The victim was grabbed and choked from behind and could have been killed."

I hope the victim is recovering from this hideous ordeal, she must be terrified that he is still out there - as soon as she is able to give a little more detail, they will be able to nab the running coward.

Just wanted to post this older bit for the extra details.

http://www.simcoe.com/community/orillia/article/1072697
"Police say the 35-year-old victim was sexually assaulted by an unknown male Aug. 27 while walking behind the Metro grocery store at about 2 a.m.
"As far as we know right now, there is no connection between the person who did this and the victim," Dixon added"

"This crime occurred in a secluded area, the view from nearby Centennial Drive partially obstructed due to fencing, trees and an elevated rail bed that runs adjacent to the road, he said.
"(This crime) wasn't in the front where the public would normally be," he added. "The downtown camera thing wouldn't help there, that's for sure."
