That was the summer we had our two bathrooms gutted and redone in our Toronto home in order to sell it later on. I recall that August was extremely hot and humid. So hot and humid that we rented a room in a Mississauga hotel in order to bathe and wash our hair. So............

Aren't these guys way over dressed for the hot weather we had that summer? Wouldn't they be wearing shorts and light t-shirts in that particular August? Why are they wearing long pants, long sleeves? Are these LAYERS of clothing put on in order to cover up bloodied clothing?

The weather that summer and the way these guys are dressed is a contradiction for me.

They appear to be teens or young adults, and for whatever reason, even on hot summer days I see teens and young adults dressed like this in my part of s. Ontario, ALL the time. Granted, we haven't even had a summer yet this year but for the last several years I see this in the summer. I think it's like a status thing, a cool-thing, or something. Like teenagers in the winter who don't wear winter coats, because they're not "cool".

I do remember discussing how hot it was that day/evening and if I remember correctly, didn't Sonia have her air conditioning on, along with some other neighbours? Or was it that they didn't? Early reports state that people living in the area said they heard screams. One young man said he was woken up by yelling and screeching car tires. I suppose none of those people had air conditioning or at least were using it?

I also remember discussing the fact that it was hot and that the perp was wearing construction boots. So we discussed whether they had just gotten off work, were going to work or whether it was just a fashion statement. I think the same thing with these young men. T-shirts, hoodies and pants/jeans are the norm, especially in the evenings for some young men regardless of the temperature.

Or...while it does tend to get hot during the day at this time of year, the evenings actually do cool off considerably. Perhaps that's the effect of the shorter days?

I found a screenshot I took a long time ago of an add posted by a neighbour of SV (one who was interviewed after SV was killed). She posted online looking for two roommates on Aug 31st 2010. This piqued my interest very much at the time and still does now. I submitted this info to crimestoppers years ago. My question now is, did she have roommates at the time and did they suddenly move away? Were they university students? This neighbour is young and no longer lives in the area from what I can tell. JMO

Just saw this post Matou. Yep, I have to agree. We're looking at a time frame where young people were gearing up for another school year and it's very possible that some were moving out of the area to go to post secondary schools. Frosh week would have been commencing very shortly after this crime. Not to mention some could have been younger than the minimum age of 18 that was used in the DNA swipe of men in the area. So it's possible that the neighbour who was looking for roommates had a couple of people move out around the time of the crime as well. And having young people moving out of the area at that time would not have seemed all that suspicious. I hope all that was taken into consideration during the investigation.

I think the gazebo is being lit by a city lamp jump next to it. In this video of a van that was spotted driving by Alexandria Park that morning, you can see the bright lights in the park.

I'm surprised this is the first time the gazebo is being mentioned. Hopefully, the perp/s will get the jitters and let something slip. I agree for a hot night, they are overly dressed, but it is hard tell exactly what they are wearing. Does anyone still think the man in jail in Florida mentioned on Audrey's forum still maybe involved? His name has slipped my mind...

I can't believe it took this long to obtain or release this video. The delivery guy in the van video was released very early on in this case.

And about releasing the video today - did LE recently obtain it or have they been looking at it for four years hoping to make something of it? Also, SV has family and I'm wondering how much LE is trying to show them that they (LE) are still working the case.

Is the alley accessible from 3rd street or is it one-way? I think if it was accessible from 3rd street then the guys from the gazebo wouldn't have seen the car going into the alley at the other end at all. Wouldn't police know this? LE would know if Sonia's car drove by the gazebo IMO. If they have these guys on camera then they also have Sonia's car driving by if it accessed the alley via Broadway or 2nd street. I have to think these guys are more than just witnesses. Maybe they are younger than 18 and were never DNA profiled as already suggested. JMO

This news report shows the video camera used to capture the two males at the gazebo. Also there is an officer reporting why they are looking for the two males as witnesses.

Because it is the 4th anniversary of SV's murder and they don't want to be criticized for not solving it yet. (JMO)
They have had this video for 4 years. If these guys were really suspects LE would have released it sooner. (JMO)

The way these guys are sauntering, doesn't give me the feeling that they just committed some horrific crime. I believe they haven't stepped forward for a couple of possible reasons - first, they may have seen absolutely nothing as the crime activity may have long been over, and second, they are likely not the type to step forward to LE. I think it's a bit of both. I AM wondering why these young guys haven't stepped forward for the $50k reward. That's more than pocket change.

Another thing I am wondering about is why they are only showing that one part of the video. I would like to see from what direction the two men had come from towards the gazebo. If they had approached from the right, that would have been the direction the car had been left at.

I tend to agree with you. On the 4th anniversary of the murder they are releasing what they consider to be insignificant evidence to keep the story in the news and jog some memories. Including anyone who was in the area, like those two guys.

I believe you are correct. The car was not found with the doors and trunk open. I thought I remembered that the person who reported it did so because of the blood on the bumper? Or maybe it was one door open? I can't remember.

As far as showing just that one part of the video, it is always a good idea to only show part of the evidence. If one or both of these guys do turn up, they should be able to fill in the details of what would be seen in the rest of the video. Or any other videos that may show this pair in the area that morning.

Bringing the video out this late is not too smart. Over the years people forget things. If these guys saw something they probably aren't going to remember much after all this time. If they were involved, someone could have remembered seeing them but now I doubt it. Now I see why this case is not solved.

Random thoughts, speculation.

What is he carrying?!
Is it something heavy, because most guys carry things in one arm to the side imo, ie. back in the day before backpacks, a girl would cradle schoolbooks in front, with both arms, like guy in video, while boys would carry their books in one arm to side of body.
Looks like two dark spots on item.... Tent? Weapon? Telescope? Guitar case would have handle, unless broken.
Why are a couple of young guys hanging around a gazebo?
Good view of something or someone? Watching for the ' fireworks'?
Hot summer for the clothing worn, unless they worked in cool environment, or as protection from branches and mosquitoes in the woods. imo.

Wondering how much a victim who has family affects LE and when LE releases info. At least SV is blessed that her family is no doubt fighting for her now. Fighting to find justice for her. I'd imagine that LE takes all that into consideration when releasing info.

Others aren't as blessed to have live people fighting for their justice after horrific crimes.

The people who first saw the car, if I recall, noticed that there was blood on the trunk and bumper of the car. This alerted them that something was strange. At no point did the witnesses report that they found the car with the doors and trunk open. It was the blood on the trunk and on the bumper only!

At approx 1: 48 of video, it is stated that doors are left wide open.
