One murderer, and more than one accomplice after the fact.

Makes sense to me.

But then again, I always had trouble with the "one murderer" theory.

Yes, dragging Sonia out of her home and putting in the car, on dump area pull her out of the car and dragging the body quite a distance, especially in the dark - I would think like you: improbable.
I recently have read the story about Ted Bundy. He was able to avoid DNA traces for a long time.

In Google Street view, I noticed a memorial that looks like it is for Sonia. It is on Beechgrove and likely marks the wooded area where her body was found. It is close to the entrance of someone's property, mailbox is nearby and street sign showing a curve in the road.

Which direction would the car be travelling in? Would the car be travelling westbound from Mountainview onto Beechgrove sideroad and pull over to the gravel curb to dump her body? If the car was travelling eastbound, why not dispose of her on the south side ditch/wooded area?

The last few cases of dumped female body I've followed on here involved the husband or boyfriend being charged: Melissa Richmond
AND couples
Noelle Paquette: male and female couple violent murder and body dumped on side of road
Loretta Saunders: male and female couple perps, violent murder and body dumped on side of road.

Any chance one of the perps was female, " the boss' ?

Concerning " power-driven " perps and the dumping of bodies, like so much trash..

Anniversary yields no answers in death of Sonia Varaschin (Editorial)

In each consecutive anniversary, police have either traipsed back to the scene to dig up “new” evidence, they’ve offered hefty rewards, declared they have the killer’s DNA and it’s only a matter of time before her family finds justice. But time continues to tick by. This year, on the fourth anniversary of Sonia's death, investigators announced they had a surveillance video of two people they want to speak with.

Thank you Matou. It certainly can be hers. I always thought it was further in - but when I go back and read articles, they do say beside an unpaved road. This puts a different complexion on things. In that he didn't care if her remains were found. He didn't even try and hide her.
This is shocking.

In this case you have to ask.. why remove the body? The killer wanted time with her alone.

If he wanted time with her alone, why on the side of a road? I would have thought that he would of carried her further in, to accommodate any fantasies.

I wonder if the cross actually marks the spot - or if she was discovered further in? It took one week to locate her, and it was a person out walking their dog. During that week, Joggers etc. used that road and yet they did not see her?
It is just steps off the road, so I am very surprised that it took one week to discover her remains.

And am wondering if that is the actual spot, or if a roadside memorial in the general area was set up for her.

I found a link with police tape on the scene and didn't bookmark it when I went looking for the spot on streetview. I thought she was found in a marshy area. Then I found the shrine. Here is a pic from when her body was found:

OK so she was found in a swamp?? I'm so confused....

Varaschin was last seen exactly two years ago, on Aug. 29, 2010. The 42-year-old woman's body was found a week later in the swamp that's located near Beechgrove Side Rd. and Mountainview Rd.
Yesterday, not far from a shrine friends have erected in her honour, police divers searched the murky waters for new evidence.

to quote from article
" A helicopter buzzed overhead as forensics officers collected evidence from the bush."Police blocked off a section of Beechgrove, a country road that cuts through farmland, marshes and woods southeast of the town of 27,000. About 300 metres from the roadblock, an area of trees off the road was marked with yellow police tape. A helicopter buzzed overhead as forensics officers collected evidence from the bush.

Alfaz Zaban, who owns the land where the body was found, said he didn’t notice anything was amiss until parents of his children’s friends arrived to pick them up from a sleepover at his house and noticed the road was blocked off.

“This is a peaceful area, it’s quiet. We were surprised and sickened,” he said.

Mr. Zaban said his land is hemmed in by conservation areas and that he rarely ever ventures into the heavy bush near the road where the remains were found."

So by this, I am assuming that the memorial is not in the place where her remains were found. But were placed beside the road. And her remains were further back into heavy bush with a swampy area. ??

But this:

A local woman spotted the remains before 9 a.m. while walking her dog along Beechgrove Sideroad, a narrow dirt road about 13 kilometres east of town.

She spotted the remains? Inside the heavy woods or swamp or wherever she was found?

Not leaning one way or the other.... is it possible the dog took off into the bushes, the woman followed and spotted the remains? In any event, I don't think she would be too far off the road, and she must have been in tall grasses, or something in order not to be spotted by others who jogged or biked pass that very place. IMO. I think the dog played some part in it -

He killer may have taken her to one location, then later put her in the swappy area for help get rid of evidence.

Maybe. Why not? We don't know the sequence of events and we don't know the motive - everything is possible.

To dotr:
Please, take a look on facebook FIND Sonia Varaschin's Killer:
There is much of "theatre" and dispute, I have never seen on facebook created for victims. I call some keywords: Orangeville knows the murderer, maybe a female perp too, maybe 4 persons (2 male, 2 female), maybe a perp who is living with his parents, discreminate against realtor Rebecca (Sonia's townhouse), discreminate against new owners of S' house - and so on and so on. Seems like Orangeville people have knowledge enough but are not coming forward. Please, read yourself.

If she was found in a swampy area, not only would the perp or perps have blood on them but also lots of mud everywhere IMO. Was the inside of her car muddy as well when it was found?

 • #1,078
No mentioning of mud. I think it is important to know if she was thrown to the side of the road (where memorial is) or if some effort was taken to conceal her. So many questions.......

Some snippets ...

http://www.thestar.com/news/gta/201..._police_search_area_where_body_was_found.html

"Across the road, a team of five police divers is dragging swampy waters for new evidence.

The Ontario Provincial Police say it was the evidence that drew them there, not the anniversary of Varaschin’s disappearance.

However, they won’t say what the new evidence is or when it was passed on.

Police also wouldn’t reveal what, if any, clues surfaced after a 2½-hour search on Wednesday of the wooded area and swampy water.

There were no answers, and a killer remains at large"

<<<<Snip>>>>

"It remains a mystery why Varaschin’s body was dumped on this desolate gravel road with a few homes nearby.

There are countless side roads much closer to where she lived in Orangeville."
